There is a shop Cyclefix in Birtley that just opened/moved that will cater for the endure crowd

yep – he’s a good guy alright. Worth a shot if you live nearish.

What a crap place to put a shop – I didn’t know it was there even though I walk past it on a Saturday night (piss*d) on my way to the arena… damn shame.

After Pinkbikes write up of the Manitou Mattoc Pro, who would buy anything else (other than the anti zip tie movement members)? Performance, price and looks… next.

Don’t know what the music is BUT if you use videos for inspiration, you’re doing it right! What a video too, shows his skill even better than a DH race run could, IMO.

Could the smoked salmon packaging be a clue to import methods?

i.e. Vac-pac your naughty substance, hidden out of view between layers of pungent fish (mackerel maybe?) to try and put the dogs off?

That’s exactly what ‘they’ think but it won’t really put off a service dog. Nothing does really.

As stated, MSG is used to cut drugs, coke, speed etc. You just stumbled on someone’s ‘knocking up / bashing’ spot…

The old number plates are left behind so anyone who sees a dodgy car lingering and reported the number plate – they reported the wrong one and CCTV will take ages.

    @ Trout

If you never make a light again I want you to remember something…

You sir, you’ll go down in MTB history for what you’ve achieved. I’ve never seen a better light, no matter the cost. Your name will live forever in the annals of the dark night records.

    Peace from a happy customer.

@the OP: I’m 80kg and have rode with Arch EX on Hope for a little over a year – no issues at all and I ride quite hard I’ve been told.

I also think it’s the way you ride though, seems absolutely fair to me.

Enjoy your Crests (if that’s what you’re going for, they’ll be great I’m sure. Stan’s rims are my favorites by far out of Mavic and Bonty’s.

    OMG, WTF!

Amazing stuff, I want it on my ME Fang jacket to replace DWR. I wonder how durable it is? (I was watching with sound off).

Pha5e by Maxlight. Very low, short but light. That’s my 8 year old son (at the time) and it’s a bit to big for him as you can see. TT is 20.2 BTW.

@mikewsmith, thank you for this. The riding in these videos looks just up my street. Your advice is very appreciated, as is yours Jimmy. I’ve had a look at trail addiction and I love the idea they’ve got. Going to check out the Whiteroom too though…

    Keep them coming please

@trailhound, thanks for the acknowledgment man. You really did get a good service anyway and that’s something that many products don’t have these days, sound like your money was very well spent mate.

@pebbles, can’t tell if you’re serious or not about anything in this thread… Think you need to take a look around though, maybe mellow for the rest of us a bit?

I think this whole wave and not get one back stems from wanting to be ‘in the club’ mentality. I feel a bit of brotherhood when I see another cyclist and if I were to offer a wink, wave or a hi, if I didn’t receive acknowledgment then I would feel somehow let down. Strange, eh?

Nice back up there I see BUT you fail to see why others spend big bucks ONLY because you haven’t yet. If you were to spend more, you’d get more. This isn’t just lumens but outright quality in every direction. Sounds like you got a good light though, I’m not knocking it.

Have fun and watch out for the boogeyman!

Spec’ – that’s right mate, here on Monday probably. They’re going to replace these underneath:

my trek by robsoctane, on Flickr[/img]

It’s a Trek Fuel EX 2008. They’re 08 Fox Float RL’s with QR. I really can’t wait to feel the difference and the colour scheme matches perfect too

I’ll write the best review I can for you Spec’ and anyone else who’s interested.

I’m sure they will be a bit dry and worn. I’ll try and get them all freshly lubed up and then see. I’m gonna try the 90 degree spin trick if it’s the same though… here’s hoping it will work.

Thanks Spec’. I was wondering about how they’d feel with the small stuff. Guess they bed in a bit? As they’re so stiff they should help with my fear of ruts!!

Hope for me too. I’ve got mono 4 Evo’s and they outclass every other brake I’ve tried. That includes Avid BB7, Juicy 3 and 5, Elixer 5, Shimano XT 2011, LX 2008, SLX 2010. They also outshine Hope’s own mono 6 Ti.

All brakes are ‘powerful enough’ but it’s how that power gets delivered I reckon. If you want to feel the brake then get something that’s progressive rather than ‘on/off’.

Good luck with your choice OP!

Two things, I would build a wheel with anything else than DT swiss spoke. And I certainly would not build a wheel with stan’s rim, they are not up for the job.

    This IS a brainfart!

I ride Stan’s rims and I can ride steps. Just because your mate won’t doesn’t make them ‘not fit for purpose’.

I’ve never heard as much tosh matey!

Thanks Spec’. Glad you said that because I’ve now ordered them! Can you confirm they’ll be a better ride than my current Fox 130 RL? I’m sure you’ll say yes though! Haha

I don’t get how all of the ‘reviews’ on the net are much more like spec lists…

Do you find they’re more linear than Fox by the way? And what about small bump compliance? Heard somewhere they’re a more firm fork than the usual suspects. That’s why I’m asking here, there’s no substitute to real world trail reviews!

    Cheers

or even showed an interest in the estate by offering their services as ‘beaters’ during the winter etc etc then a whole raft of opportunity could be opened up.

Can I ask, how is beating a service? I could understand if you were to say clearing or something similar. I’ve done some beating in my time and it only serviced rich, fat Americans who want to shoot pheasants.

Anathema should be much more popular than they are. Fair enough they came from the Doom Metal scene but now they are the best Prog’ Rock band I’ve ever had the pleasure to listen to!

The last session at our kids club was about ‘understanding fitness’ so I was mainly working on getting the kids to feel the difference in riding in different gears, how it affects cadence, breathing, tiredness etc.

Hi Gearfreak, can you please tell me how different gears effect tiredness? Genuinely interested…

Arch EX custom build would be the best solution in my opinion.

I’ve been running an Arch/Hope wheelset built by Moonglu for the past 2 years and it’s still totally true with no dings and I ride with no finesse and have crashed a fair few times on them.

For availability of hub spares and spare spokes they are perfect too.

I agree with this – bought the same wheels and they’re very light and strong. They’ve taken a pounding but they’re still lovely.

EDIT: I’m 170lbs and they’re on a Fuel EX if that helps.
