What does that actually mean? Are you saying you don’t believe in climate change or that you don’t care or that you don’t like it? Seems like an odd use of the phrase ‘nonplussed’…

Oh I absolutely believe in it, seems irrefutable at this point.

I used the word nonplussed with intent – what I meant was that it just doesn’t factor in my day to day life; if I get a flight I’m not looking at the co2 and when I buy a car I’m not looking at the emissions.

My malaise is really due to the fact that I could cut everything out in an effort to ‘make a difference’, which would make no difference at all in reality and we’re a long time dead anyway.

All that said, I’m not anti environment – I don’t waste anything, recycle as much as humanly possible and regularly clear up green spaces.

I’ve got a lot of respect for those that really do care and do what they can, it’s a much less selfish viewpoint.

It’s a no from me – I pay a ridiculous amount of tax already and draw nothing from the system. I’m nonplussed about climate change – anything I do to mitigate is a drop in the ocean until there is a wider global shift.

He’s referring to NFTs rather than crypto as a whole though sirromj.

I’ve dabbled in crypto over the years, most of the alt coins are effectively a pyramid scheme – see Greater Fool theory – but if you hit one with broader and lasting appeal, you could be holding something worth having in the future.

I’m doing it for the first time ever. Probably haven’t been 5 days without drinking in 5 years (and most times I drink it’s at least 5 pints or equiv.). Want to get a good January of training in.

I’m a fairly recent F1 fan. Grew up in a motorbike obsessed family, MotoGP on every weekend. Always saw F1 as boring given that in MotoGP you can go from 1st to 4th to 1st in one corner, and F1 is won on tyres and in the pits.

Watched Drive to Survive and it’s gotten me into the drama behind the racing and I’ve enjoyed the whole season. I’m considering buying my younger bro a ticket for Silverstone next year for Christmas, but fk me, the expense.

I have a very well paying (whole industry is overpaid in my opinion) job in the City and even I’ve cringed. Two standard admission tickets, plus parking, before spending a penny – best part of £500. Appreciate it’s flagged as rich man’s sport but seems a bit out of touch.

I’m with most of the above; understand the sentiment in that the author wants equal opportunities in the way minorities are taught, but the way the paper is worded and presented seems to be expressly to cause an argument or jump on a broader rhetoric which in my view isn’t necessary and devalues the argument.

But hey what do I know – I’d shut Twitter down if it was up to me; seems to be better ways to make progress than the vapid echo chambers on the platform.

I have to agree with the commentary above regarding people’s appetite to change, I see it as fairly unlikely in the short term outside of the minority.

The general population on this forum are much, much more ecologically minded than the median. I personally have no current intention of reducing how much I fly – not that I do more than 1/2 trips abroad a year – and no intention to swap to an EV (albeit I drive fairly irregularly living near a tube station). I would happily pay more and contribute towards projects if I felt they made a difference (and indeed do), but not convinced mass tree planting at the cheapest possible cost is effective.

That being said, I also agree with TINAS’ point on cost being a key driver of appetite, albeit as with everything, it will end up creating the haves and the have nots.

If you watched it dubbed you’ve done it wrong.

VIP voices are absolutely awful, otherwise it was a decent series.

Tell me about why there are more spoke breakages?

Me too, I’d expect less given shorter.

Doesn’t help, but I almost bought one and then randomly went Mason Definition. Only one ride since I’ve built it up but it looks nice!

I don’t personally see the next ten years of equities returning the same as the historic average; sustainability commitments and the demise of support for hard capitalism will impact investor returns (plus usual macro covered above impacting for the next few). I bought the dip immediately post lockdown and I’m currently debating whether to sell now.

I thought it was average; really didn’t rate with the new 007, far too cheesy, and Remi didn’t have enough screen time to seem menacing. Nice to be back in the cinema mind having last been very disappointed with Tenet.

Generally a good message, the stationary driver is too far. From my perspective he is quite unlikeable mind, comes across a bit of a tool.

I’ve got some lightish 38s (1350g region) and find them to be quite badly affected by the wind. Have been tempted to go to 30s.

One thing I have noticed in the UK recently is that whilst beer hasnt gone up so much, the cost of soft drinks seems to be rising to the point where a large coke is the same as a pint of beer.

Agreed, ordered a pint of coke at a local last weekend and was surprised it was over £4.

You obviously keep it tidy during the week – cleaner does the deep clean bits.

    2hrs a fortnight, about 25quid a pop, London.

Money very well spent, completely negates the BS need to do deep clean on Sunday when you’ve worked all week.

    Fair play mate.

I did this when I sold my MTB 6 months back, some cash (£800, given he’d just sold his last bike), some PayPal gift for the same reason as you’ve said above (£1500ish).

No issues whatsoever, great guy, so can be legit.

Amazing the array of experiences. Excellent news to those above that have had a newborn and enjoyed being home, very happy for you.

Might be because I’m young-ish at 33, but I’ve never once cared about the health implications for myself, so it does feel a bit alien to relate to those that do. Not saying you’re not right to – my dad does – just a different experience.

Conversely to many of you, I’ve realised that I don’t live in London just because the work is here and can’t wait to go back in to the City on atleast a semi-regular basis.

Bit of a daft post. If it was your business, how much capital would you commit to opening with a tenuous opening date? You say they don’t have to open; most venues are on the verge of collapse and don’t have a great deal of choice – limited support available from landlords and banks in the event the venue is able to open.

    Folks,

Never done a TT and relatively new to road.
My 1/2hr rides have an avg HR of 165ish (max 190).

Out of interest, how close are you to max HR on a 10/20?

    Fair play, sounds hard.

I live in London – prior to moving here (midlands) I wasn’t a big fan because I thought the whole city was Oxford Street.

Reality is, there’s all sorts, everywhere. Find an area you like the look of, out of the centre and stay there. Transport is easy and cheap, you’ll save on the accommodation and see more of interest.

I’d been living here for 5 years before my dad came to visit – he assumed where I lived had 50,000 people by the window every day. He was pleasantly surprised when he realised that much of the city is has a lot of appeal.

That is everything that the new Cotic ti gravel bike someone posted the other week is not.

Hadn’t seen that – just looked and I have to agree, aesthetically it’s awful.

Every hope rim I’ve used has been extremely heavy and weaker than you’d expect for the weight.

Love the hubs, but no on the rims.

I’m with both Andy and Thegeneralist. Yes you should be financially literate, but also the mortgage market is that competitive and fluid that there is negligible difference (ie you pay the expected curve plus capital charge if you fix for longer).

Some people value the piece of mind of being fixed, some don’t.

I stand by the ‘die before I can claim one’ plan at this point, I realise this is not ideal

Just because others think maxing a pension is the best thing to do doesn’t mean you have to. Pension companies/funds work on an average life basis; there are as many that live under as there are over.

    1) Cars – I like cars, current car was over £30k, albeit the loan represents a relatively small proportion of take home salary (certainly compared to my mortgage!).

    2) Business class seats; who cares, you’re flying in a tin box waiting to get to the destination, spend it when you’re there.

I find if I don’t ride enough I start wanting to buy a new bike.

Missed this from Chief – this is gold. Same as researching parts on the internet.

Second hand is the way forward – I sold a mint Following MB with all top kit (hope, carbon everything, top end SRAM etc) for £2.6k which I thought was reasonable (cost well over £4k).

Just need to be patient and wait; that is if you’re really set on something new. Posters above recommending ride what you have are offering sage advice. New bikes are great but the new bike buzz does wear off fairly quickly and you’re left with what is essentially the same experience.

FatCreations is your guy, unfortunately the waitlist for frame resprays is loooong.

I got an Open Up through Ali which fast tracked me through the list, paintjob was excellent, unfortunately i’ve taken chunks out of it from dropping a chain and stacking bikes in the car! Devestated.
