    Or just ride accordingly ….
I’m technically crap and realize it, I started riding bikes in my 30’s and 20+ years on feel I’m missing some of the fundamental skills which most people learn as kids.
I enjoy myself but just accept that I will get off and walk if needed.

Just re-started after a similar break … skills are still there but a bit rusty. I have a old long board and a screamer, use the long board for a while to get used to things again. I’ve been 4 or 5 times and am just thinking about using the screamer in the right conditions. Chatting to folk, the new generations of boards and sails are much easier but old kit and new kit don’t work together, so don’t try and upgrade one and not the other.

While my eyes have given in to age, I still only need glasses for reading so can’t help with that one.

I’m hooked again at the moment …. till I get fed up waiting for the wind !

It would also take out Jordan wood singletrack and the track down to Ravensthorpe school ! Basically everything east of the loop round the golf course up to the track to Thornhill Edge.

You might find a slight detour is required in the loop by Klaus, the track to the west of Kirkheaton heading SSE across what USED to be scrub is now a field – all the trees were felled, cleared and the field was ploughed !

Also waves from Mirfield …. and yes there is lots of good riding from the door !

As Woody says – the woods are not at their best at the moment !

Very sad, I’m 56 and can remember seeing him when on the way to the Dales with my parents a number of times many years ago. Seen him several times since, last time a few years ago. Always brightened the day to see him smiling and waving.

    RIP

Worked in IT ( Computers ) since leaving school – 38 years ago. Seen lots of changes, worked for a retail company for 26 years till it went under with mainframes, unix and windows based servers. Currently working supporting an Insurance Software package for global clients. Lots of roles over the years. Mixture of good and not so good !

Another vote for Nuun tablets, I used to suffer cramp after a few hours ride. Since using Nuun I don’t seem to suffer !

I’ve started trying to beat my previous bests but realized it was taking the fun out of riding. I’m now still interested if I improve but I use it more to explore segments I don’t know. To learn new bits of the local area and as a means of recording rides and trying not to repeat the same loop regularly.

Countzero – I had a one of the original 400 Chevette HS’s, road and stage rallied it in the 80’s, early 90’s. Great fun although it only produced about 170bhp at it’s peak. Sold it on when I couldn’t afford to continue motorsport. I saw it on another rally about a year later, going well in the morning and in the afternoon on a trailer without a straight panel, I suspect that was the end of a great car … sad day !

In the office, one of 10 remaining Head Office employees, biding time in a liquidated company, we think we might have this week and next then it closes completely.
Last few shops close today !

Sad end for a high street chain that one employed over 5000 in 500 plus outlets only 4 years ago. After working here for 27 years I have to now find a another job ….

Aww well … should have plenty of time for bike rides !

Not sure when we will finish …. or if we will go back !

The retail company I have worked 27 years in IT for is in administration for the third time in four years and it looks like this is the end of the road.

All the Head Office and Warehouse staff are slowly being made redundant …… I’m still there at the moment ……. but for how long !?!?

So if I was to start drinking wine at 7pm and drank a bottle through the evening till 10:30pm, which I assume is around 10 units …. would this have worked it’s way out of the body for about 7am ?

We were in a village about 10km from Albufiera in June, I hired a Spesh hardtail from ‘NumberOneBikes’. They delivered and picked up from where we were staying, the bike was in good condition.

I joined a local group of riders a couple of times, fun when you don’t speak the language and they don’t speak much English :)

But also found somewhere on the web which sells military type maps which have most of the tracks on. Then it’s just go and explore ….. Strava also gives some clues.

While there is some singletrack, it’s mostly jeep tracks in that area. Or that’s all I found !

54 and 11/12ths here ….. had to give up squash about 3 years ago due to knee pain, I was limping and feeling beat up after hard games.
Used it has an excuse to buy a decent bike light as I was told biking would be ok. Now, I ride 2-3 times a week and climb indoors if the weathers dodgy with only occasional aches from the knees.
Also use a skill compensating full suspension as my only bike !

We were out last night in and around the local woods, got a clear view of a badger as it ran off, a few rabbits and then a couple of guys with greyhounds ….. maybe there will be less rabbits next time !
Even warm enough to sit outside the pub for a pint before a gentle ride home.

When we’ve stopped there we’ve always had one meal at Sinos, sort of Asian Fusion cuisine … I think.

We’ve tried both Indian and Chinese resturants, not sure which but there’s lots to choose from.

The Granary and Queensway are lively pubs in town …. but we only visit once a year for a couple of nights so I’m no expert ….. :)

Unlike most on here I didn’t ride a bike as a kid, I wobbled around on friends bikes but never had one. One Xmas in my thirties my wife bought me a Townsend Topeaka ….. at that point I had to learn to ride ! I started going to a quiet park to learn to ride, eventually moving onto riding with a neighbour …… then further off-road and it just carried on from there …. 20 years ….. several bikes ….. and many hours riding later I often wonder if my wife regretted it …. probably not, she still encourages me to go out as I’m in a better mood after riding :)
I know I’m not the most proficient rider and I use the excuse of not having a bike as a kid and learning without fear !

Still no success, rounded the hex of the threaded pin now ……

I don’t seem to have anything which undoes the bleed screw and I have tried opening the lever adjustment as much as I can without success.

Patience lost I’m afraid, the bike will be going to the bike shop to be fixed by someone competent.

Thanks for the prompt help anyway !

    Robin

It’s wine o’clock now then as I’m not riding tomorrow !
