British, steel, hardtail, 26″. What’s not to like.

The colour – like The Stones said: paint it black

The black was shut yesterday, some red was too, but was still great! Not been before and was really impressed. Not much mud, but plenty of puddles – not that that bothered me.

Found what was open of the blue to be featureless & uneventful.

Will be looking for a guide next time I go there I think.

Could be unnecessary braking? Don’t try to go fast, focus on smooth.

Match & index will be functioning in the same way as vlookup for this, why add to the confusion?

Left on it’s own won’t do it as the text he’ll be looking for will be variable length. If cell A2 contains “xxxx 20 January 2014″ then formula =LEFT(A2,FIND(” “,A2)-1) in cell B2 will pick up xxxx regardless of the length of xxxx – but only if it’s the first piece of text required AND has no space before it AND has one following it.

If the required text is “buried” amongst other text then it gets tricky.

Sorry, don’t know SSIS very well so this isn’t really the answer you’re looking but… this would quite doable using Qlikview – it’s shithot for ETL.

How stiff are they? I rode a kona stuff for a year & it kicked my ass

Reading anecdotes on various forums, 20mm is almost universally regarded as noticeably more rigid than 5mm or even 9mm QR

Are they discussing sus forks or rigid?

    From: http://waltworks.blogspot.co.uk/2011/01/trying-new-things.html

Question: What’s the benefit of a 15mm on a rigid fork?

    Walt said…

The benefit is that for many people, their only front wheel is a 15mm one (and they’re not all convertable) so if they want to swap from a rigid fork to a suspension fork, this is the easiest way to do it without buying a second wheel.

In terms of stiffness/performance, very few people need a through axle on a rigid fork, IMO. But it doesn’t hurt anything.

Hi crush, maybe bump into you…

Glad you have been to the croft trail, not too bad is it

You know what? It’s not bad at all. It’s got very obvious limitations but there’s enough twistiness and rocky bits to make it a challenge.

The bastards told me it was the world’s largest jelly worm

    How did it taste?

    RobHilton

Gave the worlds largest gummy bear to a haribo fiend when she left us; she’s ginger and was everso happy we’d gone for the orange one.

    2.3 kilos of puke-inducing nom!

For those who fancy their jelly sweets to have more of a disturbing double intruder look there’s always the the world’s largest jelly worm…

If water has memory why doesn’t it all taste of piss?

Any that hasn’t been passed through an animal will have nicely diluted all that that has, hence increasing the potential to taste like piss.

Chromag are way better than the Salsa ones – no issues getting clogged in mud if you’re using it regularly on a ride. Costly and can be hard to find though.

That tune one looks interesting, they’re quite rated, but look a bit wrong 🙂

Loads of modulation and ridiculous amounts of top end power when needed

Second this – actually think they’re too powerful in a way. Have them on 4x & DH bikes and they makes sense on the DH – on a small bike you can easily endo without meaning too til you get used to them 🙂

There’s been some pretty nifty building going on in places.

North on the canal from the Tame Otter crossing over by the bunker…

Left: there’s a bombhole with multiple tracks ending in it. A couple of ok, but not amazingly well thought out drops into it & one absolutely retarded (nasty landing & run-out), but very solidly made drop going into a step-up. Further up the hill there’s a decent gap jump with a couple of options into a sweeping berm.

All of that was very soggy leafy a couple of weeks ago and hard to ride in control on.

Right: there’s some tracks up the hill along the way as you go round but there’s a brand spanking new one maybe half a kilometer along with some superb berms and a tabletop (that I think should be 3 times as long 🙂 ) Someone’s also stuck a step-down in about 2/3 of the way down
cos they weren’t very impressed with the small drops/jumps to flat (this may have been me  )

Carry on further round and there’s a drop line and a couple of jumps.
Bit further round there’s a bigger drop with a very nice run-out – yet to do this, but so much work has gone into the construction it’d be rude not to some time.

The bermy one: http://www.pinkbike.com/video/343250/ (needs a sweep)

Edit: Tarmac (Lafarge) & MOD own it apparently. Looks like it’s not gonna be quarried for some time to come – http://friendsofhopwaswood.co.uk/

    don’t enter mass start events.

You’re totally right there – I hate riding in groups 🙂 Do like to do the odd event though to prevent me being a complete riding leper. It would be nice if people gave way a bit more (as I do) cos I’m never gonna be a contender.

@SSS – yeah I can see that being an issue 😕

On the Dyfi & CyB enduros (geared) I’ve got fairly racked off with people who can’t even attempt vaguely technical climbs and push on the good line forcing those who didn’t come out for a walk to take the most retarded route up. Having to ask people to move out of the way whilst I’m on the verge of a rectal prolapse doesn’t make it any more fun 🙂
