It was when I’d bought a tin of Amy’s Kitchen Lentil Soup while camping. It had that indescribable ‘full’ taste reminding me of a sort of Irish stew. Completely delicious. It was expensive for tinned soup (but great quality, organic etc) so I was determined to cook the stuff myself. I found an ‘Amy’s Kitchen Lentil soup copycat recipe’ online and was surprised again at how few ingredients there were. Basically bay leaf, soffritto, balsamic vinegar.

By far the best tinned soup I’ve ever had! I’ll be trying the recipe you linked to.

1 question – Are the big tube structures motherships or inter galactic gateways of some form?

Heighliner? Fly your ships in, guild navigator gets wasted on spice & folds space. Before you know it you’re a million miles from where you started.

Why does he syncopate his speech like that. Makes him sound ridiculous and attention seeking. It detracts from asking searching questions of politicians to hold them to account which is his job.

His mum was a speech therapist, you know.

“Pan fried” is mainly used where “deep fried” would be an option. I haven’t seen pan fried eggs on a menu. Yet.

    It’s mainly used *everywhere*
I’ve deep fried eggs; it’s an experience.

    Pan fried = fried
Street food = our premises are located on a street
    Pulled pork = barbecue sauce
Singletrack = there exists but one track

Perhaps plants aren’t just sentient – maybe they’re cleverer than us. Like the Eloi and the Morlocks the twist in the tail might be that as advanced and sentient as we thing we are its actually us that are being farmed -we’re the crop not them.

Kinda like the mice in HHGTTG experimenting on us.

And mice have tails; plants don’t.
Or is that just what they want us to think??

I’ve got the achey bones variety with occasional shooting pains. Bit headachey.

Currently in bed and staying here! -ve LFT yesterday no chance I’ll be venturing out into the cold for a PCR test for a few days.

Also, would the artificial propogation of plants via cuttings, grafting, etc, be ethical? We villify anyone who does it to animals. Witness the reaction to the dog head transplant experiments by Vladimir Demokhov.

He who breaks the law goes back to the house of pain.

I rate Lato over Knossos for an archeology site to stumble around.

The museum in Haraklion is great.

I can prove that plants are sentient; the word you’re looking for is sapient.

Rob: how long did the marker pen last?

    Longer than the tyres :)

    A couple of years

I used one of the extra stinky, highly toxic marker pens to change “Specialized Ground Control” into a variety of words – some rude :)

No noticeable effect on tyres or dying in ball of flames.

It’s the soap / washing up liquid which kills the bacteria not the water temp.

I’m pretty sure detergents help wash away bacteria as opposed to killing them – unless they contain a disinfectant.

I have a fairly major “dink” in my head (post knocker incident, self inflicted dont ask how) and it even deals with that.

Similar here with a divot I’ve got from having a cyst removed. I was really surprised how well it doesn’t just skim over it.

I’ve got a motorised roller door but it might as well have been a velvet curtain when it came down to it.

I want to beef it up before I replace the bikes.

A beef curtain won’t be much use either

    From their FAQs:

If we think you’ve got more credit on your energy account than you need, you’ll be able to request the excess back as long as you’ve had an energy bill based on real meter readings in the last 14 days. To ask for your credit back, just hit the little button underneath your balance on your online account dashboard.

If you think you’re due a refund but you don’t see an option on your online account, just email hello@octopus.energy to talk to the team. (Make sure you’ve given up-to-date meter readings within the last 14 days.)

    Max £500 at a time, I think.

I find it a good way of saving money – but then I’m shit with money…

Although I’ve never won even a quid on their meter reading wheel of fortune.

You missed out! For April fool’s day everyone won at leat £1.

As above, really easy to deal with and get refunds from for overpayments.

I believe that asafoetida is used in Indian(?) cooking as a substitute for onion and garlic.

It’s not a substitute in the sense of a an analogue; more that (strict) Jains don’t eat anything that grows underground.
