Apparently you get a bike of any weight when you pay for sports equipment.
As long as there's nothing but bike in there.

Good point – I may need to arm myself with that info at the check in desk at some point in the future.

Im my experience it's been costly to go over 32kg combined.
But as some have said it's poss thay won't charge you any extra.

I personally don't fly EJ any more since they lost my luggage on the way out and destroyed it on the way back and only refunded 45% of the replacement costs in addition to charging me excess for the luggage they lost – AAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Ryanair all the way! (until they give me a similar experience – I know its coming…)

I've had it go my way and against me with EJ, but their rules are a max of 32kg (bike & other hold luggage combined when you've paid extra for the bike) without paying excess baggage charges:

Where your total checked-in hold baggage weighs more than 32Kgs, normal excess baggage charges as set out above shall apply in addition to the above fee.

You can have up to another 18kgs of luggage but you'll pay lots for it.

Frankers your wrong, rockthreegozy your right.

    Exactly wrong! (In my experience)

Well I'd recommend you buy mine if you are looking at a virtue :-)
Medium 07 model Virtue One frame with XTR front mech, Fox RP23 and FSA carbon pro seatpost – £400

Whatever you do I'd ignore the hype about the equilink thingy being the best solution to suspension issues – it does work well (as do many other designs) and those bikes climb incredibly well, but (in my experience) are only ok for descents.
I've done the Dyfi Enduro on mine twice and it's a great bike for that kind of riding, but I'm more focussed on flying down mountains and prefer something a lot heavier.

Already got 36 talas forks for AM types rides – got the domains for uplift days.
Am considering keeping them on for everything mind and just struggling on climbs :-)

    £120! Good Lord.
Might just stick with what I've got as I've invested/squandered enough on it already I reckon and I'm unlikely to find a set of Totems anywhere near as low as the price I paid for the Domains.

Re: The Orange 5 – I've got a similar "experiment" going on with an 06 Enduro with CCDB & Domains. Domains limited to 160mm; are your totems reduced travel too?

I'd like to give it a bash with totems so the adjustability of the front is closer to the back (and they look fookin hardcore :-) ), but fear sticking longer than warranteed forks on.

    If they are limited:
    1 How?
    2 Cost to do it?
3 Are you just braver than me?

The way I did it was to select Grab the HTML from the Share This drop down box and copy from the 2nd http to .jpg, then pasted this into the IMG dialogue box.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers RD, you're a genius!

Time to stop sitting around in my pants and go for a ride!

Hmmm… No help whatsoever Gee man – (almost) exactly what I did. Copied & pasted the URL and no dice.

Any chance the size of the image is to blame?

    Interesting – I'll take a look around.

It's amazing what you can find if you do a bit of searching; this is very well hidden in another part of the Dyfi Forest:

    EDIT
Bollox! How do photos work on here then eh? I followed the distructions & everything!
Never mind – it is good, but you'll just have to live without it :-)

geetee1972: rumour has it that there are some 'aternative' ways down just after the wooden berm.

Really? Really, really? Can anyone substantiate these rumours?
I know there's a fun steep track at the end, but have been blind to anything else.

Guess I could always stop and look around next time I'm there…

I've got some Rockshox J4s (adjustable travel) with remote lockout you can have for a tenner + postage.

Can guarantee they'll need a bit of TLC as they've been sitting in my shed for a couple of years; once that's done they'll be okish forks once more.

Switchbacks – if a guide says it is 'definitely do-able' it might not be

(Guide gave himself concussion trying to ride a drop every one of us didn't think WAS definitely do-able).

Just imagine what would have happened if he wasn't confident!
Wasn't the ridiculous thing on 48 stitches was it?

Apparently the climbing's great with freeride spain and the 'freeride' is subjective :-)

Switchbacks rocks! Descent orientated and you'll likely come away more skilled then when you went.

Grab a cardboard bike box from your LBS and cut to size to have inside your bag (make it a tight fit) will give it a load of rigidity.
I've been through a few attempts at this over the years to get it quite right, but even on the 1st go it made a big difference.

it helps protect the bike quite well and stops the whole thing leaning over to one bulging side when you're wheeling it around.

I had a similar problem when changing cleats on my road bike a while back; if you're using road style chunky plastic cleats check they have float – the ones that gave me grief were black look cleats (no float) red ones have plenty and pain went away.

    Is a guide though, innit?

Nope. As I understand it it's about the hilarious goings on in the "underground" (non-touristy) riding scene in Morzine.

James has devoted his life to riding & racing to the extent of mostly living out of the back of a van and sleeping on people's floors to eek out every penny so as to work as little as poss and spend as much time in the saddle as he can.

He posts sometimes on descent world under the moniker of EuroPikey, is a sound guy and can smoke (almost) anyone I've ridden with :)

I saw this chappie fall off on an uphill corner and it all becomes clear now – he was laughing at the time, but seeing as he beat me round I might employ his revolutionary tactic next year…
