Well you just agreed with me.

Not really. If you didn’t feel faint/shitty/puke on your shoes you weren’t doing a tabata session :)

Makes me feel good too! Not straight away, but as you say for the next few days it leaves me buzzing.

With Tabata if you’re able to do all 8 reps in full and then go on to other exercise afterwards then you’re definitely not giving it full gas. Unless you’re an international athlete…

    Agree. Sort of.

Allegedely you get the best benefit from it if you don’t do any other excercise for the next 24 hours (I seem to remember reading somewhere…)

I can do 6.5 reps before I start to feel shitty – and I’m always broken by 8 :) I need a reletively long cool down period – 15 min jog & a bit of a walk to feel normal again; after which I could do other excercise, but I don’t feel the need.

never feel faint or anything like that.

    Then you’re not giving it 100% :)

I do 1 or 2 tabata sessions a week – running. It’s the only way I feel like I can push myself that hard, just can’t manage it on a bike.

And it’s not as far to fall if I do black out :)

Can see it working on a rowing machine as well, but the people in the gym would think I was a nutter

But does it taste like tuna, really?

Go on HtS, get serious and try some (it’s fit for human consumption).

    Why banana milkshake?

In my natural environment I would never come across a banana.

Maybe that’s why banana milkshake tastes nothing like bananas? Possibly the makers are hoping I’ve never tried a banana so won’t know banana milkshake bears no resemblance taste-wise to actual, real bananas; or maybe they’ve never encountered a real banana so they’re just working on their best approximation.

    Like Tasty Wheat.

South Penquite Farm is great is a great campsite.
The riding, I found, wasn’t so good.

The Blissland Inn is a marvellous place for beer…

I also nothing, however I am having something of a complusive eating day; couldn’t be arsed to go out and ride so made a load of pasta and keep returning to it every hour or so for a top-up.

I feel soooo bloated – in a good way.

Really looking forward to having a gigantor poop tomorrow :)

Non that I can think of* – cats are ace! If my GF allowed it I would have 30 of the fluffy buggers and be a mad old cat lady (allowing for ageing & successful gender reassignment).

*Aside from them causing asthma @ age 33 :(
Seems I’ve got it for life now, but I’m not too badly affected.
Allergies apparently most likely with male, dark haired ones – according to my interweb research.

    The Browning Version (1951).
A bit of a slow film, but Michael Redgrave’s performance is truly outstanding.

Wind the clock on a few decades and I really enjoyed Looking for Eric – partly for the entertainment value of one Mr. Cantona, absolutely convinced by his own awsumness & blinded by the sun shining out of his arse – and partly cos it was quite good.

Superstar sintered do me fine, don’t last as long as the Goodridge ones I used to use, but they’re a lot cheaperer.

In the sports round of a quiz of which I was a participant we were told there was a trick question; everyone assumed it was:

Q: What game’s name is four letters long and starts with a T?
    A: Golf

    How very droll!

Turns out that was a red herring – the real trick question was:

Q: What is the longest race run under jockey club rules?
    A: The University Boat Race!!

Might be complete bollox – never bothered to find out :)

    What http://www.carboncyclerepairs.co.uk/ told me:

Basic rule of thimb is if it don’t look broke it probly isn’t.you can tap test it all over with a philips style screw driver or even metal handle of cuttlery and your listening for a constant clunking sound and if theres a definate dull thud compared to a clunk toy have a delamination

The probly bit didn’t set my mind at rest…

That’s why we say ‘salt & vinegar’, not ‘vinegar & salt’.

Often with word pairings the word with less syllables comes first.

Vinegar followed by sugar in my case  not into salty stuff, but sugary is loverly

I like motor vehicles – they’re great for transporting bikes round the country in.

I’d go with Brechfa for fun times – avoiding most of the black unless you like steep climbs* and Nant y for all round great XC.

*The main descent is great jumpy fun, but not the kind of thing I’d want to be doing on the kind of bike the rest of the black is suited to. Mostly hard effort XC v DH/Freeride type descent – bit of a skitzo trail :)

Or does he just want a bike with 9″ of travel each end, and 50 inch discs – just so he can tell his mates? (Serious question!)

    Worth noting this!

I’ve helped out a lad lift his Demo 9 onto an uplift truck as could couldn’t do it himself – I struggled cos it weighed a ton! A fair bit heavier than my mates large size Giant Glory Freeride (think Victorian engineering).

He also couldn’t ride it, poss cos he was something of a beginner or it was way too much bike for his size/strength.

Do you ride some of the huge drops and gaps in swinley on your hardtail?

Almost sure I’ve seen a pic of DTF doing a man sized drop on a HT.

You will never hear anyone with a good bike use the term ‘over-biked’.

I rode Dalby red on an RM Slayer with DH wheels & short stem – I was seriously “overbiked” and had to walk the last 2 miles due to exhaustion :)

Aslong as you have a smile on yer face, who cares!

At the time I definately wasn’t smiling.

Big hits are a good place to start (I do happen to have one for sale  ).

There are quite a few decent looking second hand options that pop up on http://www.southerndownhill.com/forum/ – think you need to log in to see the sales boards?

I like these cos they don’t fog too easily and don’t sit on the bridge of my nose so awkwardly as some

I fancy up Telegraph/Rangers next time I do it as I frikkin hated the push up Llanberris – bit steep!

I know the push/carry up the Rangers won’t be too funny either, but I reckon overall it *might* be better. And more rideable.

I have been told off for suggesting it previously, but not by anyone who’s tried it.

prospect of being stranded in the annual flooding in the Winter

Other way round up there mate, flooding occurs in the Summer in the North (tropical wet season), winter is when it’s rather nice, sunny, warm, blue skies and no rain

    Oops! Quite correct.
