Edit: that Scott Scale 40 frame linked to above for £440 can’t be real can it? That’s a steal (assuming it’s carbon).

    Oopps! No – it’s alu :)

There does seem to be a lack of architecture with the theme of food and drink here – just buildings where food and drink are consumed; so I give you…

Asahi Beer Hall, Tokyo – “the golden turd” as it is known is supposed to resemble the head on a glass of beer (apparently).

Rob does not appreciate this architecture!

I got some of these a couple of weeks ago:

    http://www.mountainwarehouse.com/mens/clothing/bikewear/adrenaline-tight-fit-bike-short-p3107.aspx

Not crazy cheap but very comfy whilst on the bike.

Whilst standing however… the pad kinda goes into an inverted V shape and gently parts one cheeks 8O

Not all that unpleasant, but not the kind of sensation I’m used to

Had a skip through & thought it was pretty bad

I love a bit of good D&B but sadly there’s a lot of crap out there.

This is a decent source for old-timers:

    @ transporter13

I think Fineshades side should be ok – some bits were steeper than I expected but the main route is nice & wide and well surfaced.

Leisure Lakes? You sure you don’t mean Rutland Cycles?

Certainly do! Couldn’t help comparing them to LL when I was in the shop for some reason & now I’m a bit tiddly I can hardly tell the difference.

    Freudian slit or something…

    Lightworks Video Editor Review 2021

seems pretty good; possibly many more functions than you’d ever use.

I can recommend both Freeride Spain and AQR for the road riding and the coaching. My descending and cornering improved massively over the course of a week in Spain, Simon is a great coach both for MTB and road

Funnily enough I know someone who went on 7 MTB trips with Freeride Spain & learnt nothing. She didn’t realise this until she went with another holiday company and became a much better rider within a few days.

I couldn’t believe she was crying because she was so happy to have been coached over a 3 foot drop.

She is now a repeat customer of the other company.

I have 4 of them, yet to have any issues after some years of use.

No no no I don’t do clubs!

Neither did I until this week – have now seen the error of my ways!

Did wonder what it’d be like riding in a group/chain ganging etc. did my first race on Tues and it was all self evident. And pretty good fun – even scored some points!

    P.S.
I don’t use the drops cos they feel horrid :)

I thought I’d see what ordering some rims & accoutrements direct would cost me – was all very reasonable until the delivery charge of $160 popped up!

I’ve got a reasonable one that’s a 4.7 gig .avi file; youtube said it would take 15 hrs to upload 8O

Should I be looking at compressing to reduce file size or something? Or is my internet connection bobbins?

    I’ve got one of these:

    http://www.kmcchain.com/index.php?ln=en&fn=find&mo=view&id=600

Not cheap, but claimed to be long lasting & the link is easy to undo. Has been fine although using detergent on it is a no-no they say.

The 3 shims are in case you get play (I think!)
Last time I installed a Hope headset I ended up using them all (due to play), but have never needed more than one previously.

Do it! I’ve got a long term aim to push for higher ratios up to (at least) the point where I can ride in Wales in 32:16 without having to stop every 10 mins on climbs for a breather :)

Last attempt at 32:19 was a winner & reckon next time 32:18 will go well.

FWIW I use 38:15 or 38:16 for general near home (S. Leics/N. Northants) riding.

    Have read LotR > 10 times :)

1st reading was followed by The Hobbit, then by LotR, The Hobbit, LotR, then The Silmarillion.

    What a loser!

Love LotR – Hobbit is twee & shite, Silmarillion is desparate (I’d know; I’ve struggled through it twice).

Funnily enough I rarely finish any fiction books these days, must have been scared for life.

One descent on the black is full of jumps and swoopy berms = much fun for me, the rest of it… hope you like climbing :)

If I did it again I’d want to be on an XC bike and then poop myself on the fun descent. Would probably go for the Red & Blue/Green instead really as I reckon it’d be more fun filled as the black is pretty hard work for a not so great pay off.

I was I told shouldn’t have spare tubes & a mech in my hand luggage – but they’d let me “this time”.

    Silly people; if I shouldn’t, then surely I shouldn’t?

Cassette will be unwelcome I think.

I’d get to spinning classes if you’re able – much less dull :)

You don’t have to have a slick on the rear but the noise a knobbly tyre makes is appalling.

I didn’t have any issue with Mr Stein until I watched one of his programmes :)

Absolute muppet/ahole! Not content with getting paid to potter around Asia copying (stealing) people’s recipies this white devil then releases a book full of them. Now he may have given some of the proceeds of said book back to these kind people who were good enough to share with him, but I don’t expect so.

Exploitation that is! Takes me back to the days of colonialism.

Is he running businesses or is he a greedy mofo?

Similar position here; have been with Switchbacks on me tod a number of times, both for a week & just dropping in for a few days whilst in the area and it’s always gone well.

Oh except the 1st time :) Had to share a house with the biggest tosser on the planet for an entire week! He was also a party of one, and in his case it was easy to understand why!

Thankfully that **** didn’t put me off going back, as I’ve had some splendid rides & meals out with a number of fine people over the years since.

Anyway… Tabata run for running and on the bike for biking? Or doesn’t matter you just get fitter? And … on the bike, is that on a turbo?

Shouldn’t matter as, yep, you just get fitter.

    +1 for turbo
+2 for spinning bike – they’re much more sturdy

either is far safer than doing it on the road.

Am coming to the conclusion that commuting by bike can actually hinder training.

Doesn’t sound unreasonable. I ride less frequently than some of my friends as they commute every day & I’m mostly enemployable; I’m generally on much better form than they are on weekend rides.

I give it 100%! I try and push it harder but my body can’t take it!

    Good lad!
