I’ve had a FF helmet as my hand luggage with a couple of tshirts & smalls rolled up in it. Was a bugger to find anywhere to put it down 🙂

Surprised I didn’t get hauled over by the check-in Nazis for that.
    I could have worn it I spose…

You got a valve core tool you can tighten them with?
Dab of locktite so you can never get them out agen?

Or maybe Edinburgh Bike Co-op pump?

I like tubeless for avoiding thorn punctures (often link-up bits on canal towpaths). Otherwise I’m yet to see any great advantage, although I’ve defnly avoided a couple of snakebites.

The downside in my mind is that if/when it goes wrong it could be game over and a long walk home.

Why not put them in the bike bag?

Cos it’s full of bike & armour and would go overweight. Spares & stuff now go in the hold & my clothes in my hand-luggage.

refusing a tube is very odd

It could give you a good old slap 🙂

Was told I shouldn’t have inner tubes, mech and tools in my hand luggage, but they let me through – “this time”

    Brown acid?

Wasn’t the only one who thought so then…

At least he had a good time, don’t imagine the next couple of days worth of emotional rollercoaster would have been worth it.

What shade you after? I’ve got a pair of Specialzed branded hubs in very shiny light blue from a 2010 Big Hit. Can takes pics if you like.

Rob – I’m in Melton and I’m pretty decent with wheel building if you’re interested?

Cheers schmiken, may well be in touch. Stuck this in my favourites for future use – currently ok as the bobbly wheel is on a frame I broke a couple of weeks ago in another ill-advised, unconnected, incident

    Go for it I say*.
It took me 2 months to build my 1st pair – it turned out to be less fun than I expected, hence I wasn’t too motivated.

I killed the rear one on ride number 5 in an ill-conceived drop to flat incident, got a rim swap at my LBS and it turns out my month wasn’t totally wasted as at least mine was round! **** LSB effort is all bobbly!

Anyone know of a decent bike shop in S. Leics? I fear I’m gonna have to resort to building my own agen and I’m not looking forward to it.

    *My advice not always reliable.

Would agree with you Ton but I’ve just gone and got myself a frikkin job!

Is pretty bumpy in places so if you’re still on a hartail you could suffer a bit.

    Also… BIKE RAPING UPLIFT!!

Looks like fun. What’s the deal with the uplift there? Can’t seem to fine details online.

Should be here, I reckon – but no info at the mo. Different website since the last time I went there.

It’s a fun track, but be warned – the uplift is a bit of a bike raper!

I use one of each and swap them regularly so they wear evenly*

A superb set of 25 albums including very little filler.

Sadly it lacks any Oscar Peterson, but as he released about 100 albums you’d have no trouble finding some 🙂

Would you give your left nut to ride a bike?

I nearly did a couple of weeks ago!

Slid down a bank and hit a tree, prising the saddle from it’s rails using my left bollock and rolled around on the ground for a while sqealing like a little piggy.

Pissed blood for a couple of days, but still came out of it better than the bike 😕

Try hanging the tyres on the radiator for a while before fitting?

You could stick the wheels outside as well (not that it’s really cold this time of year)in the hope they’ll contract slightly.

ride uphill more. Get a singlespeed and aim to do it on that.

Go on – punish yourself!! I used to do load of hill repeats when I was in marathon (running) training mode – **** brutal, but it made the distance running sooo much easier.

I was, then, much more all round fit than I am now, but am now more bike fit than ever thanks to putting in the effort on a singlespeed over the past couple of years. Took about 3 weeks to stop thinking it was crackers and about 3 months to really notice the difference in fitness.

    Or…

You could stick to what you’re good at & love doing? Training for an event can be good in that you have something to focus on but it could suck the fun out of your hobby.

My experience so far has been…

Maxxis LUST are heavy & expensive but easy to fit and suck up thorns like nobody’s business. Have decided to stick with HRs after trying:

Rocket Rons which were horrible to fit and deflated slowly at random moments.

    Tubeless rims not necessarily required.

Low pressures not a great thing if you ride rocky/droppy things 🙂

Just get everything in black, makes life much easier.

Until you decide your bike isn’t stealth enough and resort to peeling off decals and scratching logos off parts.

Actually, it’s a slippery slope either way.
