What did you do to bend them? It’s all about reversing the polarity- if you hit them off a rock on a descent, you have to ride back up that descent at the same speed and hit the same rock from the other side.

do you have to ride up backward for this to work or not? 😕

Going on honeymoon to Canada and staying in Banff for 5 nights! So will keep an eye on this tread.

But what’s a good trail for the new mrs to do! She only rides now and again, done a few trail centres, reds at dalby grizdale sherwood! Not and epic all day one! Just a few hours Xc stuff

well, i went in to my LBS

me: have you got any square wheels
    LBS: errr
    me: you know square
LBS: well i’m sure all our wheels are round, work better that way
me: yer sorry, i mean with a….. er…. forget it

had to leave and go back an other day, felt like a right bellend 😳
my mate worked in there part time and the next time i saw him i may of got a slight ribbing!

i wanted a square edged rim for a bmx with rim brakes, if that makes sense

^^ the last one round my way ended in a death!

i stick to off road 😉

i could be wrong, but i think this is make you cross the slip road, before it joins the road you are on. so you are then on the slip road and join back on the road. if thats makes sense 😳

so the joining traffic wont cut you up/knock you off by not seeing you.

i think it’s just a personal choice of do you prefer sram or shimano? both work well as far as i can tell.

i’m going X9 coz i have XO shifters already 😉

i do on my HT. i run a 32t up front so i can do most climbs locally. i’d struggle with long steep climbs, but i would with 10 speed also. top end i only spin out on long down hill fire roads, the boring stuff. i don’t thing one extra gear will make any real difference.

works for me and getting me fitter 😉

i do have 2*10 on my full suss tho for all day stuff

    yer now and again.

took a saw out with me and cut up a fallen tree. was to big to push and has been in the way for a while

    robhenry85

i did the same on friday (day off) took the HT and not even a pack or drink, a few glasses of water before i set off 😉

less then 100m on the road then lots of cheeky stuff, had a great time. had no plan/route in mind just made it up then i got to a junction! found lots of new stuff within a mile from the house which i normally just ride by.

some times you forget how fun “just riding” a bike is 😛

glad you gave it a go 😀

like i said recons are just a spring in a tube, simple but work and will last forever with a bit of tlc every now and again

i’d say your more then capable, look here http://www.bike-components.de/bedienungsanleitungen/2011/rockshox/forks/rockshocks_technical-manual2007.pdf
or just google for a service manual, there is prob a youtube vid of how to do it, but its very easy

if your anywhere near Leeds i’ll give you enough oil and ipa and right size socket to do it 😉

    robhenry85

recons are very simple inside, the lowers are just a spring in a tube. drop them clean them up change the oil and seals. that will make them as good as new 😉

i took my 456 ss into my LBS to get a headset pressed (also bought from on-one)

he was just recommending a 456 to the other customer in there as i walked though the door with it. asked if he could show the guy it and was saying how great they are for the money. It’s not a good highly recommended LBS for no reason 😉

because i’m from yorkshire i went 1*9 to save cost 😉 less bits to buy and replace when they wear

I’ve got a full suss with 2*10 which is great for all day in the peaks/lakes etc

but my hardtail has one ring up front because i was on a budget at the time. manly used as a winter hack for a few hours paying in the woods and local trails and it’s great for that. makes be attack the hills more and i have never NEEDED a granny ring yet, i have wanted one a few times tho 😳

i think you have done the 1st step, you WANT to get out and ride!

and as root said find people to ride with.
get an os map and explore, it often gets me out
i find the more i ride the better i get

    robhenry85

this is where i fell off, far to much speed as needed to clear the rubble at the bottom! landed it and then got spit off to the side and i skidded on the broken tarmac, yep it took skin off my arm and back 😳

the worse thing was i was going up the road and was waiting for my old man to catch up and though i’d take a ride down. fell of right in front of him 😉

if you come at it from the flag stones route up from the north, it’s pretty much straight on from the top. i’m not sure if it’s even on an os map (it’s not on the bing os map thing)

edit – put 53.381857,-1.704683 into google maps and it’s the path where the green arrow pops up

that decent from WLT is the footpath 😉 that zig zags down behind the pub. it’s easy to take it by accident as i did, great way down tho
