The berms are fun (not as big as Lee Quarry though)

Are you sure you're not mixing up the two, the berms I saw @ Lee Q would fit in the first one at Gisburn!??

Don't think it's a box set, yet, but 'The Thick Of It' series 1+2, & 'In The Loop' (to a lesser extent) are brilliant.

Always grow a full-facer for the colder months, winter plumage don't you know (until grey starts to appear). On a long, cold ride you can pretend you're an arctic explorer, snot icicles adding to the pheromones to create an irresistible combination… Don't consider it a matter for chair-idee though.

Something to hide… ok, yes; mainly my face 🙂

Abroad, would love to van it overland to Italy, then catch a ferry to Corsica for a couple of weeks exploring the myriad mountain trails

Or be just as happy doing the same in beautiful Ecosse

As long as said van was in good running order..

Under suspicion that nowt of my photos came up (well, I can't see 'em), and with thanks to them-that-knows, here's a 2nd go of my earlier post. Apologies if i'm repeating…

With a sense of inadequacy (compared to ^^^), have to agree, despite some ups & downs ( :-)), the summer was arguably the best since '08. Started mine with a Pitch Pro in March, + unseasonably warm weather down GT + Innerleithen, followed by a cooler but dry Laggan in April

Then down with a bang at the Bealach Beag ride round Applecross, in hellish weather, in May

The 1st of hopefully many social STW rides up the Pentlands (note; small man with eye-mask & swag-bag about to make off with valuable bike-parts, on left.. :D)

Trying Kenny Wilsons route 41 (?) while up home for a wedding, then initiation rides round Lee Quarry + Gisburn Forest

    Oops..

And another couple of quality rides with the STW south-east Scotland collective

(with thanks to Kit for the above pic)
Bigger ones (!) here[/url] for those that want.
Hoping the heat of last June gets spread around a little next year.

Joined Flickr just recently for posting up photos here, & so far no success beyond the red 'X'; trying the above advice…

    " alt="" title="" class="bbcode-image" />

    Nope, once again..

Edit; ah success, wonder what I did different??? How do you get it to link back then? Oh I'm so thick 😳

    Trying to link-back again..

    Epic Fail!
Thanks, Mr. Pants for the "all sizes" pointer…

I ran over and killed 5 dogs in a park on my bike yesterday

Was it an advertised dog show, that you just happened to fit ice stud tyres for, Grumm? 😈

I'll go with that, though try not to let the weather affect me too much – had a great fun ride in the Pentlands last Sunday in biblical downpour conditions, but really enjoyed it as we had warmed up & had the right gear on (plus time to clean off the bike after!)

Mind you, had enough of getting nauseous thanks to freezing fingers / breaking plastics last winter. Anything under -2 this winter & I'm staying under the duvet!

I fancy putting in some work-hours on the trail sometime, but only visit the area (well, Ramsbottom) every few months from Edinburgh – bit early, but do ya think there'll be owt going on around xmas??

    hmmm…. Guising.

Nowadays comprises putting a 50p mask on; oooh I remember spending hours painting up paper-bag hero outfits etc etc. All for an aged apple & lint covered boiled sweet.

If it's Gisburn Forest you mean, then yes, I'd say so; plenty to entertain on a 1st visit then decide how regular you want to return. Take some butties though, don't know if the cafe-caravan is around through the week just now.

(& try a search in the box over there, tons of threads on the place recently)

A financial expert on 5 Live last night –

"..there's a lack of uncertainty in the market.."

Anti-plain speaking IMO (similar to "I couldn't fail to disagree with you less" – B. Johnstone, HIGNFY episode)

There are some places where you could do a lot of damage to yourself on that route.

George has a v valid point there – do not get carried away, esp. on the quick descents – 'lose it here, you're in a world o' hurt' as a big man once said.

(sorry to be vain; someone put me out of my misery & tell me you can see my pics, rather than a rake of 'kin red crosses – can't seem to get flickr working enough to see my own posted photos! :?)

    robgarrioch

Wouldn't call it harder than GT red – more of a straight climb up / fast descent down. Just keep your eyes peeled for what's coming up, and be careful on the rocky bits 'if' it's damp.
There's an excellent bomb-hole just after a notice-post saying 'skids are for kids' – you'll probably want to section that a couple of times as it's a long climb to the top after it.

Great colours in yours JoJo; Thomzo the perspective on that makes my eyes involuntarily shut tight! RichPenny, those clouds… is it me or does that look like a mouth…? Spectacular!

(In horror that I still can't see my OP pic, obviously ballsed up something, so 1 more try:

    )

    Thank God! 🙂

A small restaurant in Edinburgh (Olive Branch bistro in Morningside) served the best hand-cut chips ever last Valentines day – maris piper tatties cut to small wedges, oven baked at around 170 degs for 15-20 mins, then into a hotter oven (220) for 10 mins. Crisp on outside, soft & floury inside, kinda like mini-roasters. Been back twice now but the chef seems to have vamoosed 🙁

Granted, Layne Staley can't be replaced – 'Junkhead' is my joint favourite song ever, mainly due to the vocals (tied with New Millenium Cyanide Christ, if anyone's interested), & I listened to Dirt pretty much constantly through 4th year at Uni…
However, I'm impressed by the new album – good deep guitars, major chords slightly off-key sound that marked a lot of the Dirt era sound. + when I heard the new vocals, a shiver literally ran up my spine 'cos the guy sounded like Staley…

Seems you're right, by the FC website. There's not a lot to it but it's worth a look – quite a short lap. If you're willing to go a little further, Comrie Croft is well worth a visit, also short but technical as you could get. There was a post earlier with a video from the recent Hairy Coo race, http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/the-hairy-coo-xc-race-video

Really rate the new Alice In Chains album, Black gives way to Blue; not up there with Dirt but waaaay good

Kona_TC ; as Mr Style has hinted, the spelling is 7 Stanes – no doubt many more cleaning suggestions will be forthcoming.

This link[/url] might help re accomodation etc.
As gonefishin says, GTress / Inners are virtually next door to each other, & there's probably 2 days riding exploring both (& their various red / black / DH / FR guises). GTress also has all the facilities, while Inners may, if you're lucky, have some upright portaloos. £3 parking at each too (all day).
But the Dumfries area trails are great too & you could easy do 2 in a day, even with reduced daylight.
