Hmm, 13thFloormonk vs. TBC car trip through the streets & byways of Edinburgh to Harlaw; anyone running a book? 🙂

At least one regular poster of pictures on here produces a calendar

Despite / due to the impressive nature of Mr Niches package, might try this for the lay-mans point of view.

Maybe setting up a group etc. on flickr would be the way to go, will have to take a look at that later.

Thanks for having the courage to reply, Trekster 🙂

Would ST Towers be interested in the judging side (Sim?) / setting up a voting thing?
I guess the thing is to gather a heap of photos for each month (scenes roughly corresponding to the month / season), 'pro' or nominated-impartial-forumite to reduce it to 2 or 3 favourites, & a vote for the winning pic.
I guess I could put up a thread in the first week of each month for pics taken in the preceeding month, rather than 1 single thread that would soon be over-loaded (although it may just be you an' me Trekster! 🙂 )
Would have to start it from this month though, to include, say, Nov + Dec of this year & allow time towards the end of next year for putting it together. Purely to get a base of pics you understand, the logistics of putting it together to be thought about later.

If any 'more' interest is shown, 🙄 , will start a thread at the end of this month… But it'd be nice to know how much folk would pay, & how many would be interested. Me, I'd go £10 no probs!

A few relatives were extras in 'Highlander' when filming at Eilean Donan castle, being peasants – they got the job as no make up / costume required 🙂
They also employed as many bearded men as they could get.

GGrrrr, haven't got my lights yet so skipping this one – may venture out with the camera & catch you all giving it rad down white hill! 😈

Had a pair of protection 2.2 black chilis on for the most of the last year, quite liked them until I had a 'let-go' on steep damp rocks (as covered in JT's linked thread above). Will still use them but be very careful on anything both hard + damp!

Can't comment on the 'Knife' – put a £20 spoon on my pitch last March, now have one on my other bike too. Good quality, put up with moderate treatment, right shape for me. Good brand.

JK has a house 3 miles away from my folks, keep seeing him in the pub, he's taller than you think.
Jack Bruce used to holiday near my home, saw him in the pub once.
Shared a plane to Corsica with some woman out of Corrie Farm.

'danger rocks' stuff's ok, if a little fate-tempting, & slightly leaning towards motorbikin'. Heavy cotton, good for winter (check 'grand prix legends' site too, often much cheaper)

As Brian Clough once said, metal isn't a matter of life & death, it's far more important than that.

Probably.

Anyone'd think that was set-up, the way you shrugged that off Mark. A good flavour of the group camaraderie, the way we leapt to your aid… 😀

Good vids NW – Scald Law (Lovers Loup?) seemed rather steeper than it looks there, or was it just me?

If you've not seen it already, have a look at the 'Home' dvd – mostly filmed in south Scotland.

Judging by the participants attempts to monopolise all other Lothian based threads :-), the road ride was successful; see here, near the bottom…

Christmas/Hogmanay Pentlands ride followed by a post-ride drink/night out

💡 Sounds like another winner Kit, hopefully I'll be around for that (always travelling well south -> well north over the hols, but planning to have a bit more r+r in embra this time)

p.s. Kudos to Mr. D for days best Schwarzenegger impression!?

^^^ WTF?! Now that's turned a frown upside down!

Nice grassy trails there sfb; are all the trails self-cleaning down your way? Textbook examples of dressing to the conditions too. Most of our moisture further north was under-wheel / over-back, with cold clear skies.. Take our very own Kit here, for e.g.

(p.s. spot the schoolboy error!)

Best cinematic experience – 'Tell No-One' (when you physically feel your heart beat quicken / strengthen watching a scene, you know it's a winner). Do remember coming out of 'The Matrix' & 'Pulp Fiction' thinking WOW! too, though.

Fave home watch – 'L.A. Confidential' (never gets old) or 'The Lives of Others' (gripping)

Here's a link to the previous post detailing e-bay goodness; couldn't find any quite at £8 del'd, but snaffled a pair @ £15, quality's fine, just a bit of nip/tuck required to the length.

Another pic for interest, GPS profile, not including W.o.L. extra miles. Not got to grips with it yet so apologies for no info., but the figures are:
– 29.95km
– 13.58km ascent; 13.27km descent (?), 3.18km level

(I know, it doesn't all add up – bl00dy technology!)

Think I'll be up for some of these, before work goes bat-sh1t again; hoping to get my bar lights this week. More likely I'd meet you guys near the hills though, getting into ye shoppe would take much more time. Stay in Bonaly anyway so handy for tagging onto Pentlands rides.
Are 'Revolution' bikes ok to be used? 😈
Be using new grips purchased from your good outlet yesterday, boshed the ST subscribers card & voila, 1.60 saved just like that!

Capt. 'Lowside' Kit

Digging my own grave there – shan't expect sympathy for my next tumble 😈

Thanks Mark – I'm not entirely sure, but you should be able to download from my Flickr Photostream – click the photo, then 'all sizes' above it, & it should come up with an option to download / save (above the pic, again).
If not, it's no bother at all to e-mail, can crop the date-stamp out too if you've not got the software.

Was past morning when we got that far Steve, but a fine, muddy ride was enjoyed by 7 of us + 1 guest assimilated into the collective en route. Shame drainage wasn't high on the Harlaw road re-surfacing work…

A few of the pics I got (D'OH! left the date stamp on after using it at work…)

Ians reaction to learning of geared bikes, with front suspension, was a little worrying

A new challenge has arisen:

Capt. 'Lowside' Kit in a rare rubber-side-down moment 🙂

Obligatory 'Gladiator' homage shot;

Many more here. If anyone wants full size copies, give me a shout – will crop out the date too!
Good ride + fine weather, the ultimate combination!

I don't own a single-speed, but promise to only use 1 gear at a time 🙂

True to form my 2 niche-riders have pulled out (already!) so it's just Mr. Monk to take on in the s'speed league!

TJ – do you have anyones number in case?

So far, due to warm beds & central heating, it would appear we have;
Kit
13thfloormonk
Paul Gillespie
AlasdairMc
RobGarrioch

Possibly;
Northwind
Friend of Robs + friends brother, both on rigid s'speed 29rs (Just added by me! Sibling competitive streak will see them keeping the pace hot!)

Any more for any more?

Oooh nice. Got the previous model a year ago, now can only blame myself for the poor pictures. Trying to get a handle on the night capabilities with the darker nights this winter. Time to enjoy case / tripod shopping!

Worry not Paul, this aint a case of the podgy kid saying 'don't really play the guitar much', then laying down some jaw dropping solo riffs
This is proper 'some-gear-no-idea' ineptitude!

Can I propose Ian is restricted to a slick road tyre out the back, to give us half a chance…

You're always supposed to smear the back of motorbike brake pads with cgrease, one reason being to stop howling / squeaking.
Only replaced mtb pads 2 or 3 times myself, always with a little grease on the back, & haven't had any squeal problems (unless occasionally when v wet, & then just once or twice)
