    Having one harder part in an otherwise easy trail is generally a pretty bad idea

    I see the sense there Andrew, & I guess the stair was a bit of a departure from the preceeding mile of trail. I think it was well signposted though, & it was a decent climb up some twisty s'track before a section of fire road to get to it. Could, however, imagine a few 'offs' occurring; sure I did a stop & look before tackling it the first time.

    Any chance you can sort this text out – I've nearly got 100 here!

    Only did a few laps of CV once but that staircase was the one 'challenging' section. Dumbing down of the highest order.

    Weren't they doing something to 'runway' as well, presumably to slow down the air-hunters?

    Has the text in this thread gone all weird for anyone else??

    Once yer warmed up it's a great laugh. Bike / gear wear rate through the roof too, with all that washing, but it's worth it.

    Somehow remember seeing this on that '10 Years Younger' programme, tiny red spots that stay with you for life. They zapped 'em with a laser to break them up & they dissipate over a few weeks.

    I'd guarantee any bike borrowed by me would be returned cleaner than when received.

    But I do have a cleaning fetish… oooo, muddy bikes! (rubs knees a la Vic Reeves…)

    I enjoyed 'There Will Be Blood', but 2 guys walked after 10 mins after laughing uproariously at him falling down the mine-shaft….??

    Might have been the complaints from the rest of the audience, mind.

    haha, that's a great shot postierich

    +1 Postierich – that is absolutely superb my man! Chuckling to myself. Once in a lifetime shot that. The expressions from both riders are wonderful

    there really are some awesome photos here. The winner for me, every single time, every day of the week is postierich's shot of his daughter 'racing'

    Echo the comments above; can we start a petition to get that published in the Mag?? 🙂

    Back again;
    Still haven't tried out the LUU on-bike, took a walk out the back last night with it and my Fenix TA21 torch. 1st impression was not bad at all, not super-nova but definitely adequate. My fenix has 9 strength settings & a much more concentrated spot, it seemed not to visibly add any light to the LUU's 'pool' until set to 130 Ln.
    Also bouyed by this thread posted by Trout who knows his onions on lights (ok, it's Nukeproof again, but the LUU is essentially the same light)

    getting older and wiser

    I think / hope so. My drinking has virtually stopped, compared to my twenties. Just doesn't form part of the plan any more. Still have the odd couple, like, but prefer to use time constructively now instead of wasting it with hangovers. + got less time to waste…

    Jam bo; that's interesting – got Casino DVD few weeks ago; the 1st half is boring as…., then it picks up a lot in the 2nd half. Have you watched the whole thing since?

    Strangely enough, I just called Lumi on this for my LUU light this afternoon –
    Elite = 120mmx70x45
    Pro = 180x70x45
    Enduro= 220x70x45

    Think he means the main bolts affixing the caliper to the mount – loosening them a little + squeezing on the brake lever probably lines-up the pads with discs.
    Had rubbing problems with mine for 1.5 rides (with some extra braking for good measure), now the wheels spin rub-free.
    Will have to remember your tip about the 'ramp', cheers.

    I've had a quick look & can't find any actual measurements of the light emitted – On-One's details clearly state 900Ln (as posted in this thread).
    I have no experience of other lights, or appreciation of how 900Ln should look / be, but it sounds like your light's a bit shy of that, Dunc. No way I'm going out £180 if the product doesn't match the description!

    Edit; we can now blame SFB! 🙂

    jamesca – we should form a self-help/harm group – the dis-illuminati! 🙂
    Still, haven't even got mine in the house yet, so keeping the chin up.

    cookeaa – I'm a bit dubious over 'combined' effect of 2, or more, lights too. A lot of the sites claim 2 lights = double intensity, whether this is 'lumens emitted' or 'lumens landing on ground' I've no idea. A bright fixed light (bars) + moderate moveable light (helmet) seems to be the recipe for success!

    Thought daveplanetx would've been here by now…

    Changed my Juicy 3's pads last weekend, can never remember how-I-did-it-last-time either.
    Jemmy'd pistons back with big screwdriver on old pads, took the 'spring-clip' (shiny outer clip) out, bent it a little so its middle was closer into the caliper, cleaned out the caliper inside, little copper-grease on back of both pads, slid both pads in with separator clip, 1 pad resisted a bit then went with a little reciprocation action.
    Persistence is the key 🙂

    Been seeing a few this autumn around the house (at foot of the Pentlands). One wandered right along the road past me 2 nights ago.

    Did a fair amount of digging here & elsewhere before I plumped for the LUU's; seemed like the best bang for your buck after the popular DX jobs. Considered most major brands but didn't want to spend >£200 on something I may only use 1/2 a dozen times a year. The Luu's seem good quality & ready to last a while.
    Hopefully I'll get to try them on Friday, just a wee run to see what I think. Not having night-ridden off-road before I hope it'll be just fine.

    Top fun-bike that innit, won a few group tests + Bike mag's bike of the year. I think it's ok to get a fairly quick / powerful bike after DAS provided you're 'sensible' – had a '98 Fazer 600 after doing mine, best time I ever had on a bike. Quite fancied one myself but have progressed onto mountain bikes / bits now instead ( 🙄 ) & need a bit more practicality for pillion / long distances.
    Can you get an insurance deal thrown in? Suspect it's fairly high grouping 'cos it's desirable.

    Hmmm, I'm tempted to take this seriously, if just to see the rich variety of life as recorded by the avid STW observers… 😈

    Mr. OfNiche – seeing the quality of your pictures, I couldn't match it if I carried a tripod, took the decent camera & knew how to use it! I'm talkin' bout those chance photos that capture the mood of the ride (which yours definitely do). My own humble example

    Like Mr. Opponents contribution above, I'm not sure there's legs in it ( 🙂 ), but watch this space.
