A cheaper car? But he want a nice car NOW and everyone is ripping him off just because he’s very likely to have a crash and kill someone in the next 5 miles!!
That’s discrimination and another sign of “Rip Off Britain”!! 🙄

I do like a lot of these woodburners pictured but can’t help thinking how clinical and uninviting most of the rooms look. White or cream walls, stone or wood floors etc. Am I the only person left who loves a nice carpet in the lounge?
AnthonyB”s lounge looks really cosy though!!

I wouldn’t if its 3/4 way across. Thats probably about as bad as it could get without it completely shattering. I’d hate it to break completely and make the car undrivable when I was on a motorway or back road miles from home in the snow etc etc.

Don’t forget you’ll lose some modulation too.

    Err no you won’t.

If anything it’ll be better as you won’t have to pull as hard to get the same braking force, making it easier to control.

205mm discs front and back for me always. Miles better!

I stress, the point again…The idea was to see what experiences had with wiggle. Not to have a rant or a moan.

Well maybe you should think more before you type then, as it read to me, and obviously others too, like a nasty unjustified rant.
    Grow up.
EDIT: It was your 2nd and 4th posts which were the problem after you weren’t getting the answers you wanted.

It won’t have helped, will it?
Probably the long period of stop start driving, lack of food/water, having to keep awake may have combined with poor air quality to give headache. Can’t have been stress free!

A friend of mine has let me know Bradford is a car park at the moment. He’s coming from Guiseley and it took him 4 hours to get to Bradford, but no through it.

It will depend a lot on where you live. In west yorks its rocky in summer and rocky and wet in winter. Not much in the way of mud really. I use the tyres my pitch came with, Spesh Eskar and I think they are really good.
However I’m from Notts originally and I remember it being reasonably dry smooth and dusty in the summer but very muddy in the winter. If I still lived there I could see a real benefit in having 2 or 3 sets of different tyres to put on according to the conditions.

I suppose the HC is guidance on how to comply with the law.
In my work we have to make sure people don’t break the law but we don’t give them a copy of the legislation and say get on with it. We issue official guidance and advice first. It helps you understand what you have to do. The guidance isn’t legally binding but if you flouted it then as it derives from the laws in the first place you can trace what they have or haven’t done back to the relevant law.
So I suppose the HC issues guidance in the same way. It can all be linked back to a relevant law (possibly?)

It makes a huge difference round here. I always clear all the snow off the car including the roof, as when you get to a certain speed it starts flying off backwards in big chunks. Happens a lot on the motorway as you pick up speed, I’ve had a windscreen full of snow many times before on the way to Leeds. And how dangerous is it when it slips down onto your own screen when you brake?? Can’t see the point of clearing your car and not doing the roof, very inconsiderate at the very least.
Tip – use one of those water blade things which you normally use for drying your car after washing. I have an AutoGlym one which is ace as it clears the car in seconds. Every time I used it someone will notice and say they’re getting one too.
Clearing your lights too – very important.

I get a voucher from work for it but there’s no way I’m volunteering to get stuck in the arm so it’s stuck on the fridge door

I have quite a bad fear of needles, always have. I nearly ran away from the doctors when I went for my tetanus jab even though my mum cam with me. I was 18 years old!

However, I’d do anything to not get flu again. Please go and get the shot, you’ll regret it if you do get flu, for the whole 1-2 weeks of pain and agony you’ll go through.

I heard a saying that if you have a bad cold you’ll struggle to pick up a £20 note you find on the floor. If you have flu you won’t give a rats ass about it!

When I got it over Christmas I couldn’t move out of bed for a week. Horrific headaches, sweating, shivering, sickness etc etc. It was so bad I got quite scared and was hours from calling a doctor out to my house but it started to ease off a bit.
This time hasn’t been as bad, but its been pretty nasty and felt like the same thing.

Pah. You don’t know good food you two.
There are occasions when a Rustlers is not a viable option, say an embassy party or maybe a yacht club. But give them a chance and you’ll see.

Give me a break anyway, I actually went down the fruit aisle of Sainsburys today. I’ll be honest, it scared me but I did buy grapes bananas and oranges. Not sure what to do with them yet.

I usually agree with TJ but when I dont I can see why his style really annoys/grates other people. It is not a court and he does often miss the big picture to focus in on one single point ad naseum.

Evo magazine tested some winter tyres on a 400bhp Jag XF (RWD) and it beat a 4WD car with standard tyres around their test track by 30s. 🙂

Winter tyres use a softer compound to grip better in lower temperatures, and have a different tread pattern to clear more water and extra “sipes” to claw at the surface which is what makes them better in snow.
They actually last longer than standard tyres in the winter as standard compound becomes brittle in the cold and wears faster. Generally good for October to March as they are designed for temps less than 7 degrees average. Get a spare steel wheel set and go for it.
Interestingly it is very common to buy a second set of steelies and winter tyres on the continent when you buy a new car, and summer/winter tyre sales are about 50/50. Strange how very little people have them here.

There was a bloke on the radio who said he set off an hour early but his normal 1hr 12 mile journey to Farnborough Hospital had taken him 6 hours so far. He’d only got 8 miles IIRC.
    Easier to walk?
Not many problems up here but I did move the car to the front as it gets trapped in the drifting snow round the back of the house

Elf, this just goes to show how posts can have different effects on different people. I personally can’t stand TJ as he appears on this forum. I’ll admit people will be different in real life (Hora is actually a great guy who I’ve met) but if you only have their forum posts then you can’t assume they are any different.

Why are you such a plonker binners? I merely asked you to provide some evidence for your assertions. I didn’t even disagree with you.
However as you were unable to provide any evidence you have to behave in a childish manner to attempt to justify yourself..
Guess who looks stupid now? You do realise I have been laughing AT YOU

TJ, you really don’t help yourself you know, you do sound very pompous and legalistic all the time, picking out tiny statements and making a big deal out of them instead of “getting” what the person is talking about.

EDIT You do realise this is an internet forum which people use for fun, not a law court? Lighten up for crying out loud!!

If someone handed me a sick note for stress and anxiety they would jump to the head of any P45 queue.”

I would agree. If it was my first year in the job I would move heaven and earth to make sure I did the best I could, worked hard and worked through sickness if I could. That’s the sort of person I would look for if I was an employer. Work isn’t a right, someone is paying you money to do work for them so if you’re not up to it you’re going to stand out.

Stress and anxiety? Used as an excuse by loads of people who can’t get their job done or can’t be bothered to make the effort. Not all cases though.

Unfortunately in the real world you can be dismissed for many valid reasons (and no mention of the real reason) perfectly legally. I’m afraid you haven’t been discriminated against, you just haven’t been as good as the other people and you stand out as being a potential liability. Sorry, this sucks but it happens.

I have done this before and there is a certain amount of bodging required. I had to space out the seat stay bridge as well to get the guard to sit close to the wheel enough.

If you don’t already have the frame why not get a Kaffenback instead. Same sizes for BB, seatpost etc and more than capable off road too.

I’d recommend the World at War DVD series

Very very good. Gives a whole picture of WW2 and you could start with it then delve deeper into bits after you’ve seen it. The video footage is unique, when it came out on T V originally most people had never seen anything like it, it was shocking. My mum is a history teacher and she recommended it to me.
The books might be good but the World At War series gives an excellent overview.

On a practical note unless you have some sort of steering wheel controlled Bluetooth system then anything else is a bit of a faff and therefore not really that safe. I wouldn’t like to use the free handsfree that came with my phone as you have to have it in your ear, you have to still handle the phone for some/quite a few functions. And it doesn’t mute the stereo either.
