I honestly don’t get these wireless audio things. I’ve listened to a variety of them now from cheap to mega expensive in various people’s houses and without fail they a) sound abysmal – no stereo separation, either tinny or bass heavy and muddy sound and b) need regular attention to keep working as the signal drops out or the wi-fi does something weird or another crazy excuse.

I’ve always had the cheaper stuff and my experience is that the gears all shift the same really. If the cheaper chainsets have steel rings it’ll mean they last longer.

Only thing I would look at is the STI levers. When I got my last bike I found the Tiagra felt so much better than the Sora, nicer to hold, less flimsy and a more positive shift. As they can be very expensive to buy on their own, even second hand, I’d go for as good as I could afford and not worry about the rest of the drivetrain.

I know they need the ads to keep running but maybe they could get some better paid ones are they taking over now……

How on earth do you accidentally phone someone when your phone is in your pocket? I actually don’t know how you could do that with an iPhone.

A car is only unsuitable (as far as excess power/speed goes) if it simple CANNOT mechanically drive below the speed limit. Any other reason is the driver.

The other side of the roundabout has markings to suggest you can go left in lane 2 (what I was originally looking at hence the edit). That’s what I would expect on a motorway to motorway roundabout.

However as there are no markings there isn’t a clear cut answer really. If you drive a lot on motorways you’ll probably think it’s ok to go left in lane 2 but if you drive a lot in town you might not.

I think on balance I would be wary at that junction as there is no markings.

EDIT. No markings but I would think it’s reasonable to arrive in lane 2 to go left there. Presumably someone was in lane 1 and went straight ahead without looking?

I don’t really have anything to donate I’m afraid but I’d would like to encourage others to do so.

I used to raise money at school for a local homeless charity and their work was great. You are normally with the small charities like that funding or helping directly at the point of need and anything you can help with really doe go a long way.

    Nice one!

I can imagine a few people on here watching this, ashen faced, as they see this small boy go down that hill faster than they have ever done themselves!

I was finally able to trump confidently today without sitting on the toilet.

It was very satisfying but MAN ALIVE the smell was HORRIFIC. Even I was disgusted, and PeterPoddy knows they must have been exceptional if that’s the case!

Started to feel a bit better today. Pretty much 4 days now.

Had 1 Yorkshire pudding, one spoon of mince and a potato croquette. It was the finest meal I had ever eaten!

I think I can be confident eating now, knowing it will stay inside me for more than a few minutes. No stomach cramps today either.

Yeah it was only Wednesday night I started to feel ill and I started the runs on Thursday so it’s not worthy of a doctor yet. I’m not being a martyr, there’s just no point in going to a surgery with something pretty normal I can deal with myself.

Maybe if it’s still bad on Monday I’ll go.

Will try the Brat thing, thanks, that looks good.

90kg here and I have 203 front and back. Why have anything smaller?

I would say get the proper sized shimano rotors because if there is some of the pad not hitting the disc it won’t be working as it should.

I need to get some sleep so I haven’t drunk anything for a while. Even water passes through me like my mouth is connected straight to my ass so I don’t dare!

All I had today was some maltesers. They didn’t stay in me long. The fish and peas I had last night were a BIG mistake. I may as well just poured the peas down the toilet as that is what it looked like I’d done anyway. Might have saved some wincing at least.

I have a PCS9 and I love it. Same but different head I think. I have a very uneven floor and the three legs work really well.

I’ve been looking at this as I’m moving house next year and I may need to build something. http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/bikegeneral-workshopcabinshedgarage-arrghhh

Brick built I think £3k is very optimistic. Maybe £10k?

I’m wanting to buy an Ipad Air 2 for my wife for Xmas – tesco have £40 off at the moment until Thursday. Not sure whether to buy now or risk the deal being better on Friday. Would prefer to buy from John Lewis really for extra guarantee…

Personally I think if you call your collection of bikes a “quiver” there should be some law that forces you to forfeit all of them. 😉

BTW – was anyone shocked at how long it took the marshals to put out the fire on Maldanados car? They didn’t appear to be doing anything and someone had to run from the other side of the track to put the fire out. I am sure that would NEVER happen at Silverstone. What would have happened if he had been stuck in the car and the fire was spreading??

Big shout out to all the marshals at all the motor racing – something the Brits can be very proud of as our marshals are the best in the world and go to so many races around the world to support the local teams and basically show them how it’s done. Nice to see the British marshal got to give Lewis a flag for the victory lap.

I really like LH now, was always a fan but I’m warming to him more and more. I’m not a fan of diamond earrings, gold chains and tattoos but I think he’s a character – and F1 needs more characters. It has been said in the F1 coverage that he’s easy to market – that might be because his skin colour attracts a new audience but I think it’s mostly because he has a style. You might not like that particular style but at least he has one!! Too many drivers repeating corporate responses – go too far with that and you end up being pretty faceless – Paul Diresta a prime example. Sponsors want something they can market and LH is perfect!

Plus he is turning out to be a really nice bloke now. Yeah he’s had his ups and downs but that’s great – people want to see emotion and passion about the sport which he had shown in spades. Rosberg has shown some real character in the last race and I think it’ll stand him in good stead too.

After watching the domination of Williams years ago I am so happy to see them doing well again. There is something about a team whose name is the team owner/principle, and after handing the reins to Claire I think sets a fantastic legacy in place. I would love to see Massa win the World Championship one year, he’s a great bloke and a great racer.

I have a friend who I asked about this – she’s a professional ?cake maker and she has both – she would choose the Kenwood chef over the kitchen aid any time. One thing she said was that the kitchen aid isn’t as good at scraping the bowl as the Kenwood plus a few other bits and bobs which are better. She didn’t say the kitchen aid was rubbish so if looks are very important it would still be ok but the Kenwood beats it in most things. I think it was the Chef she was taking about – she also has a professional Kenwood one I thnk which was eye wateringly expensive.

You would have to pay me to live in Outlane. I live halfway between the M62 and hudds town centre and drive/cycle through Outlane a LOT. You’d never sit outside your house or have a window open because the M62 is metres, literally, away from the village.

I live in Huddersfield and my work area is Kirklees/Calderdale (used to be Bradford).

It makes a BIG difference where you are working. Really it does. Leeds is quite well connected from most places in W Yorks and Hebden Bridge might be ok but going to Sheffield from Hebden would be a nightmare – no direct train, you’d have to go via Manchester or Leeds really, via Huddersfield is painfully slow. By car it wouldn’t be any better either.

Met one of the blokes from sister shop on a ride last night – was asked if it was that “stumpy little **** with the holes in his ears kicking off again”
LOL, guess you guys have previous ??

I bet that they wouldn’t dare say that to my brother (peterpoddy) face to face.

People just don’t like their dishonesty being revealed, do they?

The thing is that you don’t need to BS customers to get extra sales. Good knowledge backed up with honesty will get customers coming back again and again. Making things more expensive for no reason is just wrong.

I think it’s unfair to expect everyone to fix their own bikes – cars are easier to fix and they require less specialist tools for the common service jobs but not many people fix their own cars.

The thing about Guy is that he loves being a truck mechanic – he has said so many times. That’s what he calls himself and that’s what he will always do.
He has gained fame in the motorbike world for being chuffin fast. He doesn’t care what other people think about him so he still has his own character and persona and doesn’t change it to suit a sponsor or copy other “famous” people. In a stroke of luck that seems to translate well to being on TV too He has since been able to do things with this fame he wouldn’t otherwise have ever been able to do. I would say it’s all worthwhile to say you’ve piloted a Spitfire for a few seconds!

Have a look on one of the online fitting websites, when you put your car in the database it often says if the bumper needs cutting or similar. Obviously the electrics need to be put in too. I reckon the price of fitting is worth it to save the faff – some cars can be easy but a lot of modern ones are a pain.
