Getting a full refund doesn’t erase time and memory, does it?

Did that already, but the only 2 threads are for one for sale and another one where the link doesn’t work, don’t know why. Might be my ancient computer…

I had them pay, and had withdrawn the funds by the time they came round. Told you I was paranoid.

Doesn’t matter if paypal side with the buyer, they’ll take the money from your linked bank account/payment card that you transferred the money to.

StirlingCrispin – I bought one of those on behalf of a friend recently for £75 on eBay – bargain!! I rode it and really didn’t want to give it to him once I had serviced it – it rode beautifully. You made a big mistake selling!!

You could just pay them by paypal gift if they insist. Then they get their cash where they want it and they dont have any comeback just like cash.

The top tube length really dictates the type of riding you do more than how it fits you. Longer top tube are generally best for racing, maybe dirt jumping. You need shorter really for skatepark /street use and even shorter for flatland.

I am 5’7″ and last rode a 18.5″ frame for flatland/street/park use, but if I was buying one now if probably get a 21″ for razzing around the streets on and going to the BMX track as my body simply can’t bend as well as 15 years ago to do flatland!!!

Do they still charge you for the substituted items?

This sort of thing puts me off on line groceries.

I have that problem in the toilet too……. 😀

If my wife wanted to be “high up” in a car I would gracefully ask her to sit on the roof…. 😉

Thankfully she would never want such a car as she is a great driver and likes good handling cars – the current Picasso we have a free loan of she said “feels like the steering wheel isn’t actually attached to the wheels”, hence it being nicknamed “the PlayBus”. 😉

Carry on as they are doing. Did the right thing by going to the CAB and following their advice. Can’t see what else they can do.

I would recommend they don’t hire a car expecting to get the money back from the garage, which some might do.

Pretty deep cable groove on the crown there too.

    Poor maintenance to blame surely?

The bike he is using at the moment has some butterfly bars on it – he seems happy with those but I want to make something which will fit better. I have ordered some more butterfly bars to fit on this bike which I might try first before I buy anything else. If he doesn’t use them I will – wanted to try some for a long time!

Would a longer fork steerer with two regular ahead stems, one on top of the other not work?
    POSTED 2 HOURS AGO # REPORT-POST

Yes that would be ideal but I can’t find any suitable replacement forks for my budget.

Just in case the stem becomes loose.

Basically I am building a bike for someone who had one arm a lot shorter than the other. If I had loads of cash if just get something made up to fit but the budget is non existent.

Anyway what I plan to do is have a normal headset/stem/bar setup for the “normal” length arm and then use a quill adaptor to extend the steerer a bit (yes they do work and types they are reliable) so I can mount another short stem on top pointing backwards.

Each stem will have half a riser bar on it and one brake/gear lever.

If the headset needs tensioning after it’s all done it would involve taking the quill adaptor out, installing a star nut and top cap, tensioning it back up, removing the star nut then replacing the quill adaptor.

I’d like some forks that have a steerer long enough so I could fit 2 stems on but I need about 250mm of steerer to do that.

I want to be able to adjust the headset afterwards if necessary without taking all the gubbins off the top that is in place of the top cap.

I was thinking this too – the midges are the worst thing for me as I am allergic to their bites and come up in big (6″!!!) itchy lumps when bitten.

Is the midge season pretty easy to define?

I remember when me and my now wife moved in together. I had a job in a shop earning £560 a month net, she was out of work. She couldn’t get any jobseekers or housing benefit as I was “earning too much”. Being as our rent was £300 a month and bills £100 (late 1990’s) it was a pretty lean time I can tell you.

Most non-disc MTB frames are pretty tough and would be ok with a disc adaptor.
I would think the same on a road bike would risk damage to the frame. It might work ok but I don’t think I’d bother. Also the adaptors generally need a largish flat dropout which most road bikes won’t have.

For us – live in a small terrace and want somewhere bigger. We could stay put happily and pay off the mortgage in 5 years time but by then we would have to go for a 20y term rather than a 25yr term which would make payments higher. I think now the interest rates are so low that a mortgage on a house is a good thing – property prices will probably go up long term. And in 5 years the gap between what we have now and what we want might be too much for us to afford anyway.

On Retrobike we send a lot of stuff over the pond and a bit back there was a serious change in the shipping rates – it has killed a lot of the frame/bike purchases from and to the USA. You used to be able to send a frame fully insured for less than £50 without too much bother but now it’s double that and more in most cases.

The problem is the package size, a frame even sparsely packed just extends enough into the size ranges that are expensive to ship.

    Result!

Wife bought a new swimsuit after a long consultation process…..

I got some £5 handlebars, some ace running shorts which have cycling type shorts underneath and a microfibres towel.

We were there 2 hours and I could have bought so much more stuff. Seems like decent quality gear too.

    Thanks all for the advice!!

Marko – if you’re going to be picky then be my guest but I posted twice very quickly so you could say they were both my first post – the link to the £80 was in my second post.

Dear me this forum is very useful but can be a right chore sometimes.

Went to Decathlon last night and picked up (literally picked one up, not bought) a 2.75kg tent.

    Errrrr, no. Too heavy.

B and B’s for me I think or maybe YHA for the time being.
