I just picked up a pair of NRTH45 Wolvhammers. They can deal with -25…. though I had to go to Calgary to get them.
So far, they are warm, clip in easily (despite the thick sole and my need to have the cleat mounted at the back of the slot) and do not irritate my achillies.
Just the ticket for long rides and warm feet.

Tallboy with tribars – I road rode it to Morzine in the summer, took off the tribars, rode it downhill all week and can mount it on the turbo for winter training. It will carry all your kit for expedition riding, you can get up to 9 litres of water on it, and its still fast enough to do South Downs Way in a day.

I use a triathlon saddle – the Bonedge Iron. I was about to set out on a 4oo mile South Downs Way on it, so it had better be as good as it has in training. Longest time on it so far is 20 hours non stop and 6 hours on the turbo trainer.
    They work for my shape.

Did a mini double (missed the QECP to Winchester leg) 3 years back when I was messing and had a day off work.
I’m doing this route because it’s on my doorstep and a whole lot freer than the Tour Divide.

    With more climbing per mile.

And I like going up hills!

Just for a chuckle, I thought it’s time to have another bash at this double game, so, if the weather plays ball, I’m going to have a bash at the double double next wekend.

I think it makes about 400 miles and a few feet of climbing, should be done in about 54 hours.

Bike is in good shape, though last times half distance attempt was curtailed by a busted shifter rather than just a cable. XTR shifters don’t break often, so I feel lucky this time round.
