I think you’ve got to really work out how hard you’re going to be pushing it when out on the HT.

I have both 140mm revs on my Yeti and the 2014 120mm Sids RCT3s on my Solaris. Both really good forks, both with 15mm axle. The Sid is a tiny bit flexier but you dont really notice it as I ride the Cotic for XC and light trail stuff and the damping is still really good. If I want to go ride bigger technical stuff id take the Yeti with Revs.

The Damper is not going to be as good as a pike, but by no means bad. If I were you id get the Revs.

Agreed, I wouldnt bother with travel adjust, oh and the solo air rev is fixed at 140mm. A 140mm fork with lockout wont wander too much.

I have revs and Sids and find the RCT3 solo air to be really good. Xfusion get a lot of good reviews from everyone, so I guess its about the best deal you can get.

If Weight is really important why not look at a 120mm Sid which is really light and can still handle a fair amount.

Puddletown forest is another option, great riding there.

Specialized bennies here. I have a set on two bikes. Cost £60 and they’re great. Fairly big platform good grip etc etc. look better than they do in pics.

I have the ribble one, been great. Have to be a bit careful it doesn’t topple over but not a problem as such.

If they can film Andorra well, they can film this. Those whoops are gonna cause some wild moments.

If you want to buy new, id take a look at the saracen kili 29er, you can get them under £500 and they do a 15″ model. You can always make a few choice upgrades like saddle, bars etc if you feel its not comfortable. Best thing is to go try a few.

Argyle RCTs are supposed to be good, and the lowers are pikes. im sure they can do a bit of everything. Sam Reynolds used to rate them highly and they’ve never slowed him down on the trails!

Lots of good advice, I think I will still consider a later freelander TD4, have a look at the Outlanders, and consider an estate, possibly a Saab or VW Passat?

mm, pretty mixed feelings about them then. I read the freelander 2 cleared up most of the issues found in the first ones, and seems to be a bit bigger inside. Any other suggestions for alternatives?

I have just got the new Sid 120 RCT3s for my Solaris. Only a few rides in but they seem very nice. They dont have the charger damper of the pikes, but the ‘rapid recovery’ rebound, 15mm maxle, and seem stiff enough for XC and trail duties. I have my FS for Hucking the gnar! Got a good deal from winstanleys. Rebas and Sids have the same lowers but different internals. Not sure if they are quite as plush as my Revs RCT3s but they might just need bedding in abit.

If I were you, id be looking at the Kona process 111. The cheaper model is a nice green colour. 435mm chainstays on a med, 68 HA, and fun as hell.

Cotic Solaris for me, on its way next week. Can’t wait.

Im sure they will be fine for trail use, as long as your not hucking about. They are an XC fork after all. I’ll have mine next week so can report back if you like.

Any Sid owners in the house?

I doubt the flex will be any different between Sid and reba..

    robbonzo

I dont believe you can get the Rev 120mms in the UK, and Rebas are RL versions so not OEM but the more basic damping.

Ive just purchased some 2014 Sids RCT3s from Winstanleys for a very good price. Worth checking out. To go on a Cotic Solaris. I believe Rebas use the same lowers but the internals are not quite as good. The 2014 Sids have have rapid recovery and new maxle – the old one is abit rubbish and tends to break so might be worth factoring that in.

Get some Endura MTR shorts, they are slimmer than singletracks, dry really quickly and look Awesomes!

They are abit heavy and look abit sporty spice, but the grip is great and mine are holding up fine. I do want to get something abit less cumbersome for trail riding so im looking at giro jackets and save the Sam hills for DH.

The hubs are the main problem with the std wheelsets as the are abit portly. Some hope pro 2s on stans would be very reasonable for the money.

The HR tyres are great for Downhill etc but if you wanted to make it a bit more pedal friendly swapping out to something a bit lighter like Butchers would make a difference. IMHO.
Id also go 1×10. Im thinking of trying to get a frame only Process from the next batch. Perfect bike for BPW Kimbers. Its very stable downhill isn’t it.

Ive ridden the process – its awesome. with a few choice upgrades, namely wheels and tires the weight will come down to below 30 lbs.

I also run hot and not had a problem with the bell.

I bought a golden eye but sent it back. It was huge, and quite heavy, lots of vents on it but wasnt for me. Went for a bell stoker instead and couldn’t be happier. Its kind of like a Giro feature but with better venting.
