My family and I were there to do the Sprint Relay event…I did the bike (surprise surprise)with my On-One 29er Rigid, some of the course was alright, apart from the lethal bridge early on(injury magnet if ever I saw one),lucky my wife had a pretty good swim so I didnt get trapped on the singletrack.
Overall we enjoyed it but the event seemed a bit low key…or was it just me?..

I seem to be missing the 2nd half of the Tandem article…..it just stops…or is this just a way of fitting in more pages of bike design tosh?

Ive heard it described thus…Instead of technical bits linked by fireroad as most trail centres are ,the Marin trail is fireroad linked by technical bits….ridden it and tend to agree with this.Sorry.

They are what they are….use them in mud and they need lots of maintenace..on my ones the rear cone kept coming loose, loctite cured that..my road commuter I havent touched for nearly 2 years, still running sweet.
Done a couple of freehubs on MTBs too,(Dusk till Dawn kills em quick!)dead cheap from CRC etc, sometimes cheaper to buy the hub!

Anyway,it gives you something to fiddle with doesnt it?

If you find the ones in this country a bit too H+S ,go to France and look at some…..same principle and basic safety gear but the hieghts are Bonkers!…my then teenage children, who up to then found all these things pretty tame, were well freaked out with only the bravest undertaking the tallest routes….a local french lad “froze” highup, could not go forwards or backwards…i found a member of staff who then Freeclimbed the tree, at least 50ft,to help the kid carry on…only in France!

I was on the first feed station…Hats Off to everyone who gave it a go today, that was really muddy out there ,with a bit of extra rain thrown in for the later riders too!
Interesting to see the amount of 29ers…more popular than you may think.

Did the last 3 Trailbreak CX sportive things, used a 46×20 gear setup on my Pompy…..right on the edge of usability with a 60/40 road/track mix.

    Will try a 44 tooth next time….

Early shift..up at 3.45 am,breakfast, ride 20 miles, shower, work at 6am….nice ride home in afternoon at 2.30……Lates means afternoon ride in for 3pm,home by 12.45 am.
Do this 3/4 times a week..sometimes just too tired so stay flexible,as above the trick is getting properly organised at home and work..reccomend it for getting(and keeping fit) plus you start work all energised…the days I drive always feel much longer!

Pat on the back for everyone at STW..this is much more like it,Iceland photos simply superb….just want to go and ride now.

Degreaser?..useful to some but can these sort of tests be compressed a bit?…and Matt Hart is past his sell-by date too….

Hey ho..prices go up..thats the way of life and as a business you have to keep moving..but with price rises comes a degree of elevated expectation from your customer…maybe Im alone on this but if I felt the mag content was being watered down in favour of the other viewing meduims then ST would be dropped like a very hot thing..however much I may miss it……Already starting to have suspicions…..
    A bit of a balancing act?…..good luck..

I was going to rant about not having the Editors Choice article (one Ive enjoyed over the years)actually in the mag to read at leisure instead of hunched in front of a screen..but having read Marks Bit I feel like one of those dinosaurs who didnt pay much attention to the light going a bit dim…
    Please dont forget us…

By the way, have I told you how much I hated the Scram sales pitch?..hang your heads in shame..

Magazines are like everything else, sometimes good, sometimes bad..for the individual reading it…..for me the good outweighs the bad…but the Scram feature nearly got launched across the room,I work in a German owned factory and have to suffer this propaganda b*ll*h*t every day, vetted interviews with selected staff, what about the assembly associates(mostly temps who were building fridges last week if its anything like our place)..why not quiz them on their love for bikes and how much free time/money they have?….10 pages for christ sake!!!!

Yep..really enjoyed that, even the white knuckle descents….first time out on a crosser..are the brakes always that bad?…(on-one cantis)..if so I need to take more Brave Pills!

Will be back for more next year…

Did it in early march..p***ng rain and cross wind..singlespeed…eastbourne to QECP(thats where my lift was waiting)….very character building but all rideable, just break it down into small chunks……never ever on a CX bike tho!

Yep…2x bikes and camping kit(bit sluggish uphill tho)…..can even get my 18 inch Inbred single speed in without taking the back wheel or seatpost out…theres more room than you think!

Seconded…..On- One sent me the wrong fork for my Pompino build..just human error…one phone call to their Returns Dept, spoke to a very helpful guy who sorted it out there and then…no problems.
    Thanks guys….

Totally agree..you had to feel for the organisers, they did everything right and nothing was too much trouble only to be knocked back by the weather which I guess, ultimatly, had an effect on rider numbers…..think there were more marshals than riders on the saturday!
Still,as above ,great riding in a interesting area, looking forward to returning!
