Weirdly I’ve been training hard and watching my diet for months an found wasn’t losing any weight. So my back goes and can’t do any exercise for three weeks an now find I’ve lost 6 lbs!!! Probably muscle wastage but I’d like to keep it off if possible. So I’m getting less fit but losing weight. Weird.

The original question ‘how quickly can you unclip?’ is wrong. It should be how quickly can you put your foot down if you need to? And that is exactly the same whether you are clipped in or not as its the same movement. If you are nervous clipped in just practice until it makes no difference. Stop overthinking and start enjoying it…

Merlin have some xtr rapid rise but 9 speed only. Next question would these work with 10 speed cassettes and shifters?

I have one bike with and one without and actually find it easy enough switching. One duff shift each ride then I learn again. I like them and may well change new bike in a while. Much quieter and less clunky

I was always told to check knee alignment drop a line from the front of the knee to the pedal axle at the 3 o’clock position with the ball of your foot on the axle (ish). I thought one of the benefits of flats were that your feet naturally found the right place?

I think the camera might be a bit ott. Have you also put up a sign with informing them they might be on CCTV? The first sign and bag are supposed to be helping them improve their behaviour. I think they were trying to show that protein taken straight after exercise helps recovery, which they did (as it does). Easy access protein is milk. I’ve stopped using recovery drinks once I stopped aching the next day – maybe I’m not working hard enough.
