I have a Scandal 29er and did start with the Inbred 29er. i find the Scandal so much better, its lighter and does work better through the twisty bits way better for me. It does’nt seem to feel any harsher a ride as i was led to believe it may be being alu. either.

Yeah, crazy busy drivers, anyone would think they had a lot to do. Maybe more people should use shops and drive themselves eh!

robbieh – St Ives yes? Whereabouts are you parked up – I can’t place it.

Hey, yeah! in the big park at the top where you catch the bus down to the town. I go down to Cornwall alot to surf and this was a daytrip out to keep the mrs happy in the St Ives shops 😀 Van is up for sale now as i have bought a caravan which i keep on site near Redruth, its easier to get a dawn surf in without disturbing wifey and the dogs. Plus more room too. will miss my baby tho as i spent 7mths. solid converting her with a lot of TLC. and a few grand ….

Here’s mine, nowt wrong with old V-dubs, this ’92 2.4D gives around 30mpg every time. 8 trips to Cornwall last year, around 600-750miles each time. never let me down and its got 198,000 on the clock. If you try one, i;ll bet you’ll love it!

Living in the north cotswolds we get rather spoilt, we get a sparrowhawk in the garden, i’ve seen endless buzzards on the shoot that i beat on, kites, and i’m led to believe there are both peregrines and goshawks about

They won’t be around for long if your shoot gamekeeper knows they’re there.

God forbid they let GP’s run it!!! i was mis- diagnosed 3 times last year for different ailments by 3 of my local dr’s. My family has had some very good treatment by the NHS but just last Fri. my 88 yr old mum had to get to Royal Berks Hospital(20miles away) for 7.30AM! for an eye op. that they did’nt do till after 12.30PM. Not great organisation in my book.

Do you think chainlength is the issue on my break then? i was running a 1×9 setup on my hardtail with what i considered enough slack chain on the biggest cog (32) and it broke while on the 26.

Yep, same in our office. I used to do my job on a bike in around 3hrs. I’m now van sharing 2 jobs which now takes us approx 4 1/2rs with all the extras dobiejessmo has said. We start at 6.40 and by the time we’ve sorted the mail and then got our rounds ready we don’t get out the office till around 10am. finish time is varied from 2pm till 2.50pm as set by management. Big difference to when i started 20yrs ago! we were out on 2nd delivery at 10am then, remember them?

Thats terrible mate! sorry to hear that. Sadly its gone so downhill in recent years since the “bonus culture” has taken over common sense management. We now have part timers ill trained who sometimes only last a short while and don’t really care as long as they can just rush round and get finished. Of course there’s always bad posties too in any office.

Postman left me a red ticket the other day saying ‘left parcel in bin’

i’ve got customers who ask me to do that (usually green bin) and other hiding places, they’d rather that than coming down to collect and stand in a queue on a cold sat. morning. But if you’re happy to do that…..

I’ll have been a postie for 21yrs in July and internet shopping has put packets and parcels we deliver through the roof. Thats fine but i wish people would get letter boxes big enough to get their packets through or get them delivered to their work.. we don’t like to carry it all the way out there and then back again especially when you have 550 calls a day like me or more as some of my collegues do.

Same happened to me only yesterday! 4week old X7 mech on my new build 29er HT. I’m using 1 x 9 and its a med.cage. I was at swindon Croft trail for the first time and its fairly flat with only a few slight inclines here and there. I’m not an aggressive hard rider and as it was sticky terrain i was just getting round as best i could. I thought that i had just been unlucky and picked up a strong stick in the claggy mud thats there. Would the mud build up in the jockey wheels cause the chain to jam that hard as to make this happen? i did’nt think it possible but who knows? After reading this thread though, i’m beginning to wonder if there’s an issue with Sram? Its the first time i’ve used their mechs and i’ve never had this happen with Shimano. As i’ve already bought another mech the same last night i’ll see how that goes but i’ll be back to Shimano if the same occurs again.

Hi, i’ve recently (2 weeks) finished building my 29er HT and been out twice on it. Yesterday we did 25miles mostly singletrack through woods and a little on road to get to the next offroad sections. For me its been such an improvement comfortwise over my 26er. The woods sections and one very bumpy part in particular round the edge of a field was the most noticeable as it really did rollover the surface much easier. My bike does look huge against my mates but as i’m 6 2″ and 93kgs. on a 21″ On-One frame i really feel the benefit of the bigger bike. If you are able to? try and get a testride on a 29er to see how it feels to you.

    all the best, Rob.

Hi, i;ve had loads of saddle trouble over the years untill i read about a “Rido” saddle. it looks very odd, my mate reckons its a chinese throwing star!! Anyway, i tried one and it really works for me. The idea is that the 2 pads allow your “sit bones” to find their own ideal place to get padding and for men it holds the perenium? tube from being pressured which causes the numbness, in men anyway. I don’t see why it should’nt work for ladies too. I have’nt got any links but if you google Rido, its sure to come up.

Was just about to get a pair of Beavers! how vital is the weight limit? i’m about 95kgs. will it make much noticeable difference or is it just to cover themselves against comebacks.
