Why is everyone stressing over how many Lumens? If you can see with it that’s all that matters is’nt it? I haven’t a clue how many my lights have, I can see in the woods and that’s all I care about.

The satellite Hondas are way quicker than the Yams or has Cal given up for this year.

Yep, Cal’s showing no fire compared to the season start and even Bradley is close to him now

Can Redding hang on and win the Moto2 title?

I really hope so, he’s showing more determination than Cal that’s for sure

Crossmarks are brilliant. The Advantage would be a good bet for the front in the winter if you normally run a Mountain King.

exactly what I have on a 26 I,ve just built, Crossmak rear, Advantage front, found it great the other night on damp roots and trails.

Wind a few elastic bands round the bars, free from your postie! No, seriously if you want to lose weight that badly

hey Moss, your older than me!!! Not something I usually find on this forum. I’ m 63 next week and FWIW I ride a 29er HT and just recently finished building a 26 er for my own comparison. I would base you choice on the sort of tracks/trails you ride. I’ve found I prefer the 29 for open flowing trails and the 26 for twisty stuff which we have locally , it’s a lot of stop start in and out of tight squeezes between trees with hardly any time on the road getting there . Even though the 2 frames have the same geometry, ( both On-One, Scandal 29 And Whippet) for some reason they are quite different feeling to me. The 29 is much more comfortable on my old joints too, and much quicker on trail centres I’ve been to. Hope you find something to suit your riding.

+1 for the ebay specials, just used a Solarstorm 2 for the first ride in the woods, amazingly bright. £20 something if you search about.

Why does no one make a steel thick/thin?

Because they’d take too long to wear out and you wouldn’t buy so many. The price of them makes me stick with a chainguide. Works fine for me thanks.

I could get a dodgy solarstom alleged 5000Lumen beast, but it would mean carrying the extra weight of the battery!

definitely not one of those, far to bright to give a child to aim at other road users. I switch mine off when I come on road from the woods as I don’t want to blind an oncoming car. Superb light.

Useless factoid: his mum was a guest at our wedding last month. Not met him myself though.

Is she funny too? ……people still get married?

You don’ t care how many bikes other people have or how much they cost and what kit they wear, how many trips to Spain they’ve had or anywhere else. You just ride what you have and go where you want and ENJOY yourself regardless of how long or short a ride it was!!!…….oh, and don’t give a toss what size wheels and what tyres you use.

DezB, I had the same treatment without acupuncture which they were about to try next visit but in the meantime I insisted on X-rays. in desperation I’m trying Bowen treatment, having second session later today.

With everything you do, it could just be overuse. I’ m currently off with RSI from sorting mail as a postie, (biking probably does,nt help)my right arm is constantly up and down in the same way and after X-rays it shows impingement and arthritis in that shoulder. mind you at 63 I kind of expect to be knackered 🙄

Bugger. Only two of us in the house so thought something like a vw caddy panel van would be good for shifting bikes.

I Have a caddy, it is £285 fully comp and my previous car last year (focus estate) was £180. The caddy is my “car” and is not used for work at all.

Mine are on their 3rd winter/ dark evening rides, no probs so far, 2hrs + on each ride. In woods then pub/road home, never flattened the batt. Yet always on main beam off road.

Any of you ever killed a dog from making it run too fast and long so it did,nt get left behind? We.ve had lurchers for over 30 yrs and when working them NEVER made then work as hard as some of you seem proud to be doing!

If its what you want and you are happy to pay that much then it’s fine! Personally my £30 P7 led cheapo is starting its 3rd winter with no probs. I,m amazed its lasted so long afer reading all the negative comments on here, but 2 mates have them too as we bought at the same time and only one of them had a batt. Fail earlier this year. I use another cheap torch with a single 18650 cell in on my helmet and this setup has worked really well. Just bought a Solarstorm dual light which is slightly brighter than the P7 as a backup just in case but may put it on my helmet as its so light with the batt. In my backpack. So, I think lights are like bikes, some like to buy expensive, some cheap, as long as they do the job and we all have fun that’s all that matters.

Cheers for the link Bregante, just got mine today, very impressed with the power of it. Awesome piece of kit for the money, certainly don,t need to spend any more. Much brighter than my cheapo P7 light which was £30 2 winters ago and still going strong. It’ll go on my helmet now 😀

yeah, don’t buy fake! Much better to get mud and flys, stones etc. in yer eyes. after all there
can’t be many STW’s that spend more money on the “right” labels just to look cool (they think) so others see the kit they wear can there 😉

recently bought some Barr and Stroud 10 x 25 Sahara compacts, excellent light, small and powerful enough for general use when out and about. they are Rubber coated, waterproof and are gas filled to avoid fogging. Think I searched about and got them for £56 IIRC.
