What a great days racing, congrats to Maverick really pleased for him. What a **** Pol is binning it when he did’nt have to try so hard. fantastic scrap in Moto GP but now I’m wondering what Cal will do next year after binning the Yam so often and now going to a bad handling Ducati. does Bradley have rear view mirrors? He seems to move over whenever someone gets behind.

    29er here at 19.5in. I.m 6ft 1/2 ” 34 leg, could have gone 18 I think. I’ve ridden Thrustys 18″ 26er and it felt fine.

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago. I took the cover off the pack and inside was a small PCB connected to the 4 cells. With my meter I found no power coming from the wires on the PCB to the plug but all 4 cells had voltage. I have disconnected the PCB and soldered the plug directly to the cells. Obviously now I have to be carefull how long I use the lights as I could over discharge the pack. As soon as it dims I change to a spare pack. You may just have a duff cell but you’ll need to test with a meter.

That makes good sense thanks. Not having that steep a hill round here, it had’nt occurred to me about the speed factor. Also, here the cycle paths are shared pavement with only minimal road shared which obviously I wouldn’t ride the wrong way on.

Here where I live we have cycle paths on just one side of the road. Does this mean I have to cycle just one way on them as I’ve never heard of cycle paths being one way especially as they are shared with walkers who go both ways!

I’ve made aspare couple of packs up by using the batt. Holders with a plug from Maplin and cells from a broken cordless drill. Inside the Li-on packs i found 5 Samsung 18650 cells, in each pack so I can just change them over when I’m out as I charge them with a 2cell charger from Torchy. Cells are only 1500mah but hey, I’ve got 10 of them!

My own X2 is is in a black housing, and it switches low to mid to high without a strobe mode, is this the same as everyone elses? there seem to be a couple of variants floating about. Is it true as posted elsewhere that the Red anodized X2’s actually switch High to Low with a Strobe mode?
Sounds like they assembled different production batches with different drivers, what colour was the one sent to smudge?

My X2 is red and goes low, mid, high then strobe if you hold button on, so they are’nt all the same it would seem.

    I liked the foraging article.

“If everyone started doing it then countryside would suffer”

    Let’s not panic yet then.
. If they did’nt keep showing bits about foraging on various program’s, maybe less people would try it! Not to mention the countryside that gets demolished to build on.

Don’t see why not. I’ve just fitted a new 3×10 front mech(cos it was cheap) to my 2 x 9 setup and it works fine. I have’nt a clue what is different between a 9 and 10 sp. mech?

How are you guys building your own batteries with the individual cells?

I bought individual 18650 cells from Torchy and a 2cell charger. Then a 2cell batt.holder from ebay, finished with a suitable plug from maplin. You can just change the cells when flat or use 2 batt. Holders and 4 cells I.E. 2 holders wired together doubling the power supply but still with 7.4V.

Im thinking about buying one of these lights.. but would probably buy charger and battery’s from torchy.. just out of curiosity where did you see just the light for about £ 13?

I’ve seen this too from one of the Ebay sellers

Torchy is a top guy to deal with. I pm’d him last week through ebay asking his advice, he got back to me in the hour With help! I’ve bought several items from him and always quick arriving and quality gear. The Senybor batts. I got 3 winters ago are still great performers and will get some more soon to make up a new pack for my Solarstorm which is a fantastic light for the money.

    Nice Robbieh real nice.

Think you’re wishing bad on the wrong people.
maybe. lets see how the share prices go after a week or so. Funny how RM won’t let it’s employees sell for 3 yrs. I’ guessing they’ll be worthless like the last lot they gave us.

    robbieh

What many don’t realise is that RM’s profits look good because they have’nt given us the rise we should have had on April 1st and they’ve sold a lot of buildings plus not replacing staff that have left. Offices. Are now running on a shoestring helped by the lower volume of mail in the summer months, that’s changing now with Xmas approaching and they won’t cope much longer. Glad I’m getting out.

    bloody leeches!

. I’m with you mate as i’ma nearly ex postie getting medical retirement. makes me laugh how all these rushing to buy shares which could go horribly wrong very quickly, are probably the first to come on here whining on about how long it’s taken for their latest bike bit to come and that we’ve probably stolen it or lost it somehow….hope they all lose a packet.

Ok, had a read through this thread as I want to get some knee pads just for general xc as I’m too old and brittle and incapable for gnarr riding. Falling off last week in the woods gave me 2 weeks of very swollen knee to ankle fluid retention. From what I’ve read here, am I right thinking XL G Form would be correct for my 16in. Round the knee measurement?

    Cheers, Rob.

So what is Enduro then? Is it just doing some uphill then downhill so it’s not just a downhill (DH). Race, and Enduro is racing right?

I live in Newbury and I’ve heard rumours of some good, but short, trails behind Natwest(?) and behind the Nationwide Stadium.

    Anything else worth checking out?

I live in Thatcham, have you ridden all the trails around Greenham, Burghclere, Bucklebury and Cold Ash, I have been to the Croft once, it’s a great effort by the club but we have all much the same here, now Swinley on the other hand……

helmet light will let you see exactly what you want to see when you want /need to. But 2 lights is better.

Choice of batteries on hobby king is massive, excuse my ignorance but what voltage and MAH rating would these lights need to up the run time?

2200mah seems to be a reasonable price and they come in various voltages, C ratings as I’ve learnt are voltage ratings

    Every days a school day
    .
I use to be into RC and the batts I think you are referring to are LIPOs, if so the problem with these is they are fragile as they are not in a proper hard case like the 18650 cell packs. You can buy cells from Torchy on ebay and make your own packs by soldering 4 cells together in a 2 parallel then 2 series formation. I recently made a couple of packs up from cells from a cordless drill I had when it packed up. The LION packs had 5 18650 Samsung cells in each pack so I took them apart and re-assembled them.
