Can anyone do me a favour and measure their tapered headtube length please?
Thats a dumber question than the first one, hang your head in shame!

What Duggie style said. What next? Measure our gear cable length?

Pedantry aside…all tapered head tubes are different in length depending on the model and size of bike. Are you after the internal sizes for headset compatibility?

Here’s mine looking particularly shiny back in April before it had a hard summer getting treated exactly as Gary Fisher intended.

Glad you agree with me takisawa2

I’ve got a 2012 Rumblefish and it’s mega, so assured, really makes you feel like a riding God.

Just a shame the Elite for 2013 is such a hideous colour :(

The remote in Andy L’s picture is a cable operated fork lock out, not a hydraulic Reverb in case anyone was wondering

I’ve done both of mine and unfortunately had to have both operated on due to recurrent dislocations long term. Each one left me with six inch long scars and six months off the bike.

Every case is different, but what I would say is support it for a few days and stay heavily dosed on anti inflammatories for a week. Then go and see a decent physio, I didn’t for either of mine and regretted it but my dad did his,saw a good physio for a month and got some exercises to carry on with for a good few months after that. His hasn’t come out again despite him being in his 60s.

It might not hurt now but you will have caused significant damage in there and unfortunately it will never be the same again. What you can do is let everything in there settle down and repair itself the best it can. Then you can build strength in the muscles around it to try and stop it coming out again. Don’t let yourself reach for anything above shoulder height and DEFINITELY not over your head/behind you, cos that’s where it’ll come out easily from now on. Mine was coming out when I was wiping my arse or sneezing hard after I’d done too much too soon and wrecked it so what I wold say is be gentle and take advantage of the crap weather and do a bit on the turbo to maintain fitness. Could be worse, you could have done it in June when the trails were dry and dusty!

    Hope that helps

Either you need to tweak the settings or you are already crushing it.
Probably some Carbon Assembly paste would help but not used it on a non carbon interface.

Having the same issue on the missus LTc double Peril of crushing reverb and frame

Your missus has an LTc?! What on earth does that mean you ride…….a gold plated version bonded by angels?!

Thanks for the replies so far folks, just to confirm it’s the older XT brakes I’m running, same shape as Wozza’s XTRs, not the newer ispec compatible ones.

Anybody else got any pearls of wisdom?

Just had a Eureka! Moment……bottle cage bosses. goodgrief we’ve never met but if and when we ever do, I’m going to bloody snog you.

Just done some prodding about and the hose will run through a drilled out lower bottle cage boss and straight up the seat tube no problems.

KS good effort, thanks but no thanks. Reverb Stealth it is.

Now another quandary…right or left….above or below bar :D

    Hmmm…….

Leave the valve core out, FFS! You get a billion times more air flow with the core out. Pump like **** then once the thing is seated, get the pump head off and your thumb over the valve stem sharpish before doing a bit of fast hand movements swappy stuff to get the core back in using the proper Stans tool. Costs about a fiver, no need for a compressor

Mr Plow: because the granny ring location remains the same. With a double the big ring runs on the inside of the outer spider and there’s nothing on the outside. With a triple the middle and big ring run either side of the outer spider with a deeper chainring bolt backing nut

Cat eye loop lights attach to anything using a bungee style loop, I use them on the back of my lid, seatpost, on my Camelbak and on to my jacket when out running, really versatile piece of kit, especially for a tenner:

What wwaswas said..check the shifting with the clutch disabled and if its still stiff, it must be cable related. If not, take the clutch cover off and back off the clutch tension bolt a couple of clicks (do it with the clutch in the off position).

A bit of grease in between the clutch plates does wonders too, I’ve had to adjust mine a few times since setting it up in April.

Ps. I’ve got the same set up and on occasions when shifting with the chain on big front ring + middle of cassette at the back, it can still feel pretty stiff

One blow off on my Arch Ex 29er rims but in fairness I was asking a bit much of them landing cross-rutted with only about 20psi. They are an excellent strong rim, well recommended

    Stumpjumper.

The Stumpy FSR has been about for about 15 years, so I very much doubt it.

More info would be handy, which two years’ models are you comparing? Which model? Carbon or aluminium?

I run 785’s with braided Goodridge hoses and all the factory fittings, they’re mega firm now but took a bit of fettling to get them right initially as the instructions you get with them are absolutely shite. Buy well, buy once. Consider Goodridge stuff to be the cat’s pyjamas

Lightman, I’m away all week unfortunately, otherwise I’d lend you my bike.

Try ringing Eurocycles on 01624 624909, they might be able to point you in the right direction.

Also go to manxmtb.com for rides and a more local forum for you to source a bike from.

    Good luck

Lovely looking piece of kit, waiting for my lottery win before I can get mine, just a shame they didn’t spec some internal cable routing….looks very busy with all those wires.

Easily 30 mins Boltonjon, my ride felt like a 4hr time judging by my pace, and I finished in 4:37. As Bonz said, a second quicker than he did :D.

Andy R: was hoping nobody had seen that, front washed on a rock and I did well to catch it! Mark Tuson and I got impatient after a couple of minutes waiting once everything stopped in the singletrack so got our elbows out and a bit imaginative with our line choices! Don’t think people were impressed!

John Climber: that was Jonny Galbraith on the cx. He punctured before St Johns too, think he came in around 4:50
