Ask the ebay seller to tell you where he bought the bike and go direct to them in the hope that they won’t be too ‘by the the book’ and might be able to help?

Yep, exactly the same chainset here, no issues in a Shimano BB

I ran that very same chainset in my press fit Shimano bottom bracket in my Rumblefish for most of the year before going 1×10 and it wasn’t an issue. It’s a slightly tighter fit than a regular Shimano 24mm axle but once it’s in, there was no issue

Manx MTB club winter xc series round 1 in Archallagan plantation. Bone dry and dusty, 6 laps of techy singletrack and heart rate on the red line. Think we’ve been spoilt, don’t imagine the remainder of series’s I’ll be quite so blissful :D

Cheers guys. Wish I’d have known that a few months ago when I snapped a bar clamp on one lever/master cylinder assembly, replaced the whole lot, then the next ride out, hit exactly the same tree and bent a lever blade!

Just in the process of swapping all the good bits on to one assembly and will then pop on to the forum to sell. The consensus at the time on here was that it was that the blade wasn’t replaceable

    If it’s a 650b I’ll take it

I’ll be intrigued how you get the lever blade out, I’ve bent two and ended up having to buy new master cylinder assemblies on both occasions. Please enlighten us if you manage it

Pretty sure it’s a 24mm axle on a Mega Exo, same as a Shimano so shouldn’t be an issue.

There are as many PF variations as screw in, ie BB30, BB91, BB92 etc etc. it’s a bloody nightmare

I’ve got an old Reverb that I’m stripping bit by bit as I use up parts, it’s still got the top plate from the seat clamp and one bolt and captive nut left. Email me on robinarnold69@hotmail.com if you’re still after one

Not familiar with this specific cassette as I’m a Shimano man, but have you missed a spacer when reinstalling it?

Make sure remote adjuster is turned completely counter clockwise for the bleed, in particular the last part.

Take the saddle off and check the pressure in the valve, should be 250psi.

Check the seat clamp isn’t too tight, needs to be done up only tight enough to hold it. Use carbon paste.

Otherwise fit your old post for tonight and send the Reverb back. Mines been back 6 times since April :o

My sister in law has just got one similar on cycle to work, seems solid yet lightweight and stiff. They used to get a bit of a bad rep but I can’t see anything wrong with it, sure kicks the ass out of my 3 year old aluminium Allez for weight and stiffness

We bought a Spesh Hotwalk for my lad when he was under 2 but he didn’t get on with it. It was too big and heavy so we got rid and then got him a Haro 10inch version for his second birthday which he got on with like a house on fire. He’s now getting a 12 inch wheel Hotrock for this Christmas aged nearly 3.

I think we were a bit early with the Spesh in terms of his inclinations for riding it, strength and height. Fortunately we didn’t push it and it didn’t effect him once he got on the smaller one. Worth thinking about.

I think brakes are not necessary, no strength in their hands at that age and their feet are down anyway.

Standard hoses are massive, shouldn’t be an issue unless it’s a xxl 36er frame :)

Had the same issue with an FSA last year, fitted a Hope and saved myself about 3mm with the same stem

I was before I went with a General Lee adaptor so had to get a longer cage mech.

Worked brilliantly, not a single chain drop and virtual silence, good combo

Full on pine wardrobe in my garage with all mine and the wife’s biking and outdoor gear in. Garage is integral to the house so doesn’t get damp. Washing machine is through the door to the utility room a few feet away so shitty kit is all looked after without having to get dragged through the house and making a mess. Works a treat

It’s preferable running a single ring on a triple chainset rather than on a double, that way you can put it in the middle ring position bang in the centre of the chain line rather than on the outer ring on a double which is further out.

No experience of those specific cranks but run one on a M770 chainset. Is that what you meant by your question?

    Hope that helps

I’m 14st in my birthday suit and pretty rough on wheels. Had Crests on my Rumblefish but they were bending at the merest sniff of an impact so were quickly sold on. Arch Ex next which were tougher and stayed straight better but I could still feel them flex and had to true them up three or four times over 12 months.

Stumbled across a deal with Wicked Cycles on eBay where Pro2 Evo hubs on Flow Ex 29er were £279 for the set. Sold my Arch set on here and bought the Flows. No regrets, very stiff and have stayed true over the past 10 weeks despite some tough riding. The first ride out I had to drop my tyres down to 20psi from my normal 25/28 because they felt rock hard down to how stiff the rims were. Ever so slightly heavier but doesn’t matter to me, it’s stiffness and strength that I value over weight.

    Hope that helps

Good news. How’s the shifting on the SRAM version? I have the Shimano one and it shifts like a pig on and off the general lee but perfect once on and on the rest of the cassette

Can you run a spacer to take up the slack? BB spacers or an old 6 to 7 freehub spacer will do the trick behind the largest cog

The only involvement Franklin had was putting the Garmin in my bag at the top then getting it out again at the bottom. After I’d been sitting waiting for him for five minutes eating and rehydrating :D

I missed my target time of 4 hours by 45 seconds!!

    Gutted!

to be fair, the track at the side of sloc was one of my local trails when learning to mountain bike

I grew up a few hundred yards from Jon only a couple of miles as the crow flies from the Sloc trail, I’m in the vid coming barrelling through at about 17m 45s then getting held up on the boards themselves. The two lads who had just euro-tripodded down that section did a great job of getting out my way though, it was much appreciated. I caught another lad another few yards down but he too leapt like a gazelle out the way as soon as he heard my pro 2 hub clacking away behind him!

I was pushing on as I knew my target time would be tight and my watch was telling me I was getting close. In the end I had to go easy over Ballarock suffering with my usual cramp, passed another half dozen through the fields but came in at 4hrs 3mins. I improved on last years position by 30 places and had a great time in the process. Don’t think I’ll ever beat my PB of 3hrs 36min again from 2007. That year I’d come back especially from guiding in the Alps with Bike Village for the weekend so I’m was somewhat fitter and about 2st lighter than I am now working shifts and running round after a 2 year old with another due shortly!

It’s a great event and one that I’m proud to be part of every year, particularly as a local, it really helps put IOM mountain biking on the map.

Is it me or are there only 9 cogs on that Trickstuff cassette?

Another vid from a local lad here:

A lesson of how not to ride the sloc from quite a few riders and some good prangs! Let the brakes off people for God’s sake!

Email Madison about it. They replaced mine in the same circumstances and told me to return it through my LBS with a proof of purchase. Turnaround was about 2 weeks. Warranty@madison.co.uk

I’m convinced that it’s simply due to the B-tension setting required to keep the jockey wheel off the big sprocket, the mech is too far from the sprockets in the middle of the block.

This is the answer. I’ve just been out and tried slackening the b-tension right off then shifting from the original cassette on to the General Lee. Worked faultlessly on these two gears but the b-tension is obviously then too slack to stop the top jockey wheel fouling on the top two gears. I’m running a GS mech, my dad has a SGS on his Superfly so I might try that and see if it shows any improvement

I’ve been running my General Lee 28-42 adapter for about three weeks with a 32t Wolftooth thick/thin ring, the rest of a new XT cassette and a XT GS (medium) cage mech.

The chain retention is perfect and the gear range all I’ll ever need. I am, however, slightly disappointed with the shifting on and off the adapter. Going from gear 4 (biggest cog on the original cassette) on to gear 3 (smallest on General Lee) the chain simply won’t shift with just one click of the rear shifter (M980 if anyone is interested to know). I find that I have to overshift up to at least to to gear 2 or even gear 1 then drop back down if I want to actually pedal in gear 3. It’s a bit of a shame and my only gripe. I’m an absolute stickler for crisp shifting and meticulous set up so it gets on my nerves and only time will tell whether I can tolerate it or whethe i cut my losses with the set up.

Tried everything; filing the teeth down on the General Lee to assist with chain pick up, making a thinner spacer to run between General Lee and cassette but nothing seems to really help. B-tenision and cable tension are optimised to make the shifting across the rest of the gears as slick as I would expect. The Trickstuff cassette looks interesting.

    Any thoughts anyone?

It hasn’t, but it sure as hell will solve it and save you countless hours of frustration and ruined rides with seized pistons and rubbing brakes in the long run

Same as most high end Trek and Lapierres of old. Same as THIS. Takes a standard 24mm chainset axle
