    Well after one steady ride there’s an obvious increase in power and modulation compared to the twin pot caliper, I haven’t ridden anything particularly steep yet so the performance when the going gets tough remains to be seen. But initial signs are positive…. and the advice re required banjo bolt was spot on, so thanks all

    I’ve ridden the t130 carbon very briefly (not off road) and I was blown away by how light and nimble it felt. It virtually jumped out of my hands when I pressed on the pedals. Coming from a 33lbs g160 I understand that everything is relative but if it rides like an ally t130 (ie very well) with that nimbleness then it has to be one hell of a bike

    Massive job?! Remove a pin with a chain tool. Remove chain from bike. Remove the next pin and the outer plates connecting the two. When you put it back on join it using a KMC power link. Don’t even think using the SRAM ones for 10 speed as they’re shite.

    That massive job would take you less time than its taken me to write this

    It’s got an air gap, they all do it. Will be replaced under warranty.

    The air valve is under the saddle clamp.

    The bleed port is in the connection where the hose entries the post, look for the torx head, but I wouldn’t bother if I were you, it won’t fix it.

    The gritty grease like substance is probably carbon assembly paste which I can best describe as being like gritty grease

    I do a fair bit of building and bedding in #enduro trails on my Beta Evo trials bike and I reckon I’d be quicker down it on it than a DH bike, but I’m not a world class rider so I reckon the top boys wouldn’t be faster on anything other than their DH rigs

    I’ve got some, excellent things. Use them for commuting at night on the droppy through to summer mountain bike rides, transition from virtually clear to fairly dark is very pronounced, highly recommended.

    The Charge is superb on the front in all conditions, the Roam is woeful in most conditions. Not tried the Charge on the rear, would expect it to be pretty draggy

    I’m in the Isle of Man, which is pretty blooming hilly but doesn’t have the length of climbs like a lot of the UK or Alps. Longest climbs are typically 25-30 mins max.

    I run a 30t chainring with 11-36 on Strictly Endurow 27.5 wheels and never have an issue. I used to be a lot fitter than I am now too. I tried a couple of expander set ups but my passion for 100% perfect shifting couldn’t deal with it. I run the above with an XTR shifter and Zee mech and it’s absolutely spot on

    Wolftooth 30t ring with Zee mech and 11-36 XT cassette here.

    My bike has ISCG05 tabs and also has a direct mount front mech plate. I use the E13 XCX direct mount top guide that easily goes down to 30t. In fact it would cover the chain ring better were it not for the chainring spider not being so prominent and the guide having to clear it (XT M775 cranks) I dare say with a direct mount chainring like the new RaceFace offerings you could run the guide with a 28t also.

    Never dropped a chain on a ride using this set up for over a year, I race the local downhill series on the same bike and fit a DMR lower guide for that extra bit of security but it’s for peace of mind more than anything else.

    Local rides leave the car park at the back of the Police station in the centre of town at 6.30pm every Tuesday. I was there on holidays in May and had two incredible rides with some lovely folk. First one was along to Threlkeld then up Blencathra, the second week took us up Grizedale Pike, over Whiteless Pike down towards Buttermere and Crummock then back over Big Wreck Rigg Beck. All natural, big terrain, hike a bike and techy singletrack. Well worth linking in with them

    I’m a veteran seasonnaire but haven’t been out since 2011 due to work and family commitments. Very lucky to be going to Val Thorens in March with mum, dad, wife and 2 boys aged 4 and 18months. Back to my old stomping ground :D

    Ran a Mudhugger all last winter, nowhere near damage like that over 4 months. But I do benefit from a unique gift called ‘foresight’. I know many other adults who share a similar gift, most of whom can read, write and bathe themselves too!

    Cosmetic damage to mountain bike component subjected to continually being sprayed with grit and water caused by user error.

    Had exactly the same issue with a Zee mech a few weeks back. I emailed CRC a photo and they sent me out a new one FOC saying they didn’t even want the old one back!

    Kept an 11 year old boy alive when he’d collapsed in the street and was in cardiac arrest in january. The local GP and I gave him chest compressions and rescue breaths until the closest ambulance arrived which was closer than i’d been but then couldn’t find the boy and his mum until i’d radioed through the exact location.

    He survived then spent four months in Alder Hey learning to swallow, move his limbs, talk then eventually walk again. He’s now back home and planning to go back to school in September.

    My Sergeant and I were planning on how to investigate his death after the ambulance had left with him and his mum but thankfully we never had to :-).

    Being a local bobby has its moments at present whilst there are big changes happening but this day sticks in the memory somewhat.

    Service kit: ebay or direct from tf tuned.

    Oil: from a motorcycle shop. Don’t get the Fox stuff unless you want to remortgage your house. The float fluid comes with the seal kits, just get the correct suspension oil of the right weight from your local motorcycle dealer

    It’s endless. We’d be here for days describing it if we tried.

    Buy an IGN map when you get there and go exploring. The Super U and Intersport on the way out of BSM towards Val D’Isere sell them. There’s excellent stuff linking the villages in the Ponthurin Valley (the valley in between Les Arcs and La Plagne) back to the ski resorts on both sides like Montchavin, Les Coches, Vallandry and Plan Peisey.

    A surprising amount of what seem to be sneaky walkers trails are marked on the maps and quite accurately reflect what is on the ground. Use the local buses with bike racks on the back, the funiculaire and the ski lifts if there in July or August to get up high early and explore to your hearts content.

    I guided there for two seasons then took the wife back for our honeymoon two years ago, I’d say I know barely 10% of the stuff. Enjoy. It’s an incredible place.

    I would think so but it might take some jiggery pokery.

    I’ve got a G2 version RLC fork with the same set up as you’ve described above – blue lockout with black threshold dial, red rebound adjuster on bottom.

    The internals with both forks are sealed units which which are fitted from the top of the uppers. The lowers are all the same.

    Follow the guides online, there are some very thorough ones through Fox themselves which breaks everything down step by step. Once you’ve stripped everything down from the non G2 fork you should be left with hollow uppers and the damping and compression cartridges removed but left complete. I wouldn’t start trying to dismantle these, just remove the circlips at the bottom of the uppers to remove them. Swap the internals over in to the G2 CS assembly including the damper rods

    Remember it very vaguely then I started trials a few years later.

    Amazing how time changes your perception….those Whitehawk 80s look and sound like they wouldn’t pull the skin off a rice pudding but I remember mine nearly tearing my arms out of the sockets when I was 10! The new Oset a Electro bikes we an absolute revelation in weight and handling these days. Can’t wait for my eldest to get his then have an excuse to get an old gasser or the like to chase him round on!

    Had 2 rings from Wolftooth, not been charged for customs either time. Took ten days to arrive on both occasions. Their 88BCD ring to suit those cranks really is a thing of beauty, I’d be ordering right now if I were you

    I’m using 1×10 (11-40 and 30T chainring) in the same location and use that lowest gear at some time on most rides.

    Nice riding on Sunday Rob, sorry (or glad?) I didn’t enter – plenty of people better than me got their arses handed to them on a plate, that’s for sure.

    Cheers Andy, the general feedback has been very positive. Round two will be closer to home for you, based in Ramsey I think…you should definitely have a go, it’s not all about winning!
