we were all set to sign on the dotted line for thermal store option, when out of the blue the EnergySavingTrust came around and told us the best thing would be PELLET STOVE with fancy timers/controllers to give us central heating when we want it and hot water (still via a tank and will *NOT* give us hot water pressure – so possibly need an electric shower install)

a quick google shows pellet stoves are BIG, small ones are still quite tall (and not especially nice for a main room replacement of our nice old stove) but there is a GRANT available (950quid cashback + interest free loans)

sooooooooooo who has a PELLET STOVE?????????

sorry – were you wearing a softshell and a waterproof over it?

one of the main issues with this setup is that the softshell is probably very breathable so removes your sweat to its outer layer, but if there is no wind (i.e your wearing a waterproof) to remove the sweat off this layer it will stay trapped (as it wont allow it back in/trap it) and you get a sweaty-bag effect.

i find that a breathable softshell + unbreathable waterproof/windproof is actually a WORSE combination than a normal riding shirt + waterproof , because of this trapped moisture.

in his other Train program to be fair he did say he
“didnt realise the sheer disaster to the local communities his government policy’s on closing the mines would have”
yay lets all like him again…or maybe you should have bleedin well gone and taken a look instead of living in your lovely home-county house fuelled by cheap European coal before making huge policy decisions that affected YOUR country and YOUR people eh mr P!

tomlevel – thats one of our primary concerns is keeping the system running while away in winter, without having to drain the system. so the solution must run a central heating on a timer, as this cannot be from the stove , there must be some electrical influence somewhere.

dont panic, its crap, 10% RRP to 20%

i suspect this is the start and things on a per-shop basis will get progressively cheaper as it comes closer to closing the store

also most stuff not in the store will remain in the warehouse for potentially on online fire-sale at some other point in the future.

    ressurectify :

no chance of gas or oil, just too expensive when its all factored in.

looking at existing STOVE to heat THERMAL STORE, with electric immersion backup. THMERAL STORE will run central heating too = hot water + heating + hot water pressure

    OR
Pressured hot water tank + small electric boiler = hot water + heating + hot water pressure, downside is cannot use the STOVE with it (apart from heating the room its in obviously!)

dunno why – its policy, army peeps are covered , but civvy peeps are not, there are civvies who use it at the moment, they are not trying to stop us, must just be the law.

is F1 running its luck out with these ‘almost really bad’ accidents involving open cockpit/flying cars.

i remember how much luck F1 had in 94 before it ran out with bad results….

webber after all his spouting about inexperienced drivers and needing to calm down showed his true colours when it came to HIM passing!!!!

vettel drove a great race, although helped out quite a bit by safety cars.

yeah they are big employers, shame the business model never really changed with the times – yet more empty units in the out-of-town shopping center….well until a poundland opens up.

could be some big bargains instore too!

having done a few fire roads on a cross, a roadie and a mtb, i’d go mtb with fast 30+c tyres – you can spend a decent amount of money on sturdy roady wheels and tyres but the fork and rear triangle are just not designed to cope with the often mishap over a boulder, rock, ditch, drainage pipe etc, and more often than enough you’ll end up truing the wheels up all the time.

good an ya, all that ride in the winter!
its been cold up here in inverness way , these past few mornings – fog has been pretty dire in the evening ride back, and shows up the problems of the lights i have , just ordered a new brighter one,
    for me, its glasses

i cannot stop mine getting steaming up or smeared up in this grizzly rainy/fog – and of course wearing winter gloves means its hard to clean them, if i dont have them my eyes run!

    hmmm lots of interesting options.

all i have is a led TV :-)
    no speakers, no amps …nothing.
i know a little about speakers , frequency ranges etc, but is there something specific to think about if its only going to be hooked up to something that can take vinyl/ PHONO sound?
and as kind people have stated above, i’d need to watch out AMP wise about if it itself can take vinyl input too

@bear, water heating is offpeak 24/7 so no need to heat a tank that i might not use.

i cannot find out where a gas line might come into the property without buying some sort of map!

    2 bed small terraced house

its defo 8.24p i confirmed it twice.
for us gas/oil would also require the cost of a tank, a roof flu install, and if gas (which is prefered) is rental of the gas tanks too.
the quote i mentioned previously is 3200 WITHOUT any of that too…..

didnt realise an electric combi would cost so much to install.

umm do you want hiviz – cos i got a nice P/Izumi one for sale that has a stowaway cycle hood and a stowaway rear back flap and front pockets…. its a relaxed fit rather than tight roady.

    well well well

after speaking to Scottish Hydro, seems i can install an electric combi boiler and run it on the offpeak rate 24/7 ! that means water and central heating all at 8.24p per unit.

need to look at how much an electric combi is to install, hopefully a LOT cheaper than gas boiler, pipe, tank etc.
