I think we might end up hearing more from Paddy’s side now he’s out of the contract with Williams – i suspect he wanted root and branch changes and/or big financial input from somewhere (most likely they would have to sell part of the team – perhaps even to him) and they said “no” (they being frank williams via claire williams).
How someone can take a team like Williams and run it into the ground and still be in her post i dont know. (well i do, Frank wants her there and he is a stubborn so and so)

a ton of DRS simple overtakes and a wounded car getting swamped on the last lap doesnt make it a fascinating race. total borefest

what happened to the new front wings allowing closer racing and overtakes,!?!?

jeeez compare this to the LE MANS WEC last week……….. no contest – lets see a the WEC race every weekend

every Lewis win is either the hardest of his life or the best of his career – getting bored with everything he says post race now – its like its got to be some mega thing on how “he” has won it every bloody race.

can we please have Kimi in that seat next year ;-)

IMHO he’ll be in at 1 race, the Monaco GP in a McLaren in 2019…..what else is he going to do – even if he leaves McLaren that leaves him mid season with nothing to do.

expect alonso to be back in McLaren F1 this season then, seeing as they are stronger than last year (which is not that hard) and he’s not going to be doing anymore WEC…?

so F1 looking at a Morocco race – just like the last throws of Bernies reign , Liberty are finding anyone and anywhere to host a race that will pull in some flippin great wadges of cash without having any history or (i assume) much local interest in the locals and the race.

it also seems C4 coverage now has to specifically state by the hosts that the F1 race is LIVE ON SKY F1 HD numerous times in all of their highlights coverage.

there is an entire series about Agent Carter where she is single and still pinning for Frozen Cap….so that wouldnt make sense…neither would any clips of her in the original Cap America movies as an old woman .
plus – future-in-the-past-Cap america would just not stand around while all the movies are going on around him, that goes against his entire character/personality.

Captain America in the end of the movie :
    <spolier>

i’ve tried the <spoiler> thing but it doest work – dont read below if you not seen the Endgame movie!

    <spoiler>
‘parantly Russo brothers have said/suggested that Captain America going back to deliver the stones
he then met up with peggy which began an alternate timeline we have never seen*, so how did he get back to the “original” timeline we are viewing..? well they say perhaps he got help for a certain Tony Stark in his timeline.

*this would mean there would be 2 captain america’s in that timeline – given he would have to marry peggy after the real timeline version of him is frozen and then dethawed, and it means we can assume he helps stop anything of the original movies from happening in his alternate timeline.

    </spoiler>

IMHO i think Merc have a secret team order – looks to me like whoever is leading in the first lap then thats it for the race – because although no one seemed to mention it in the coverage (well the crap C4 coverage) why did merc pit Bottas when Hamilton had the big blister on the tyre, and bottas was cloasing at 1 second a lap – he could have stayed out while Hamilton pitted and stayed out with a 20+ second gap and probably win with some tyre management, or at worst, second which is where he was anyway. – although all of that would have been scuppered when the safety car came out, but Merc did not know that at the time of pitting Bottas.

saw it yesterday – i loved all the Cap. America movies more than most of the others, except Infinity War which i thought set the bar really high, Endgame really underwhelmed me, and i felt it lost all momentum and promise of what could have been a great film bogged down in Thor’s (badly acted IMHO) ‘crushed’ king/leader and “back to the future 2” dont interact with yourself or your mum gubbins….and for some reason i really did not like what they did with Thanos…

going to wrap the entire ramble of mine in spoilers (hopefully)

    Spoiler for
First off the bat – Thanos – to me he was never an out and out power hungry conquer the universe baddie, he had an ideal to save the universe from itself, from what i could see he never ruled the planets or worlds he conquered, he just killed half of them and moved on – trying to bring balance to the universe, not power, hence his destroying the stones!!!!………and when done he goes off quietly and enjoys living on a farm – and as he says, it was never anything personal, for him it was as greater duty to bring this to the universe, as Odin bringing order to countless worlds under his reign……..so to have him killed by petty vengance from thor seemed a little much to me and just a “oh shock horror they are never going to get everyone back” , until antman pops out…. and for me i could just see the entire movie plot from then on and lost a lot of interest – especially as they seem to contrive any way possible to make it “fun” to insert future avengers into past movies and characters. (again Back to the Future 2 anyone!)
we also didnt really get to see much with the 5 YEARS AFTER universe , i didnt feel the gravity of what was done by Thanos, apart from everyone is sad and no one is moving on, and yet from the looks of it, there is mostly peace? – perhaps for me a better plotline would be a few of the Avengers saying “you know, we’ve had enough, its done, we lost and actually we are more peaceful this way and actually we DO NOT want to go back to every week earth about to be flattened by some new creature”, in fact i thought Tony Stark was going to bring that in, until after 2 mins he had managed to figure out quantum time leaping….
then we had all back to the future 2 crap which i didnt like
then we had past Thanos come to the future – which he never really had to do ! i almost shouted at the screen “WHY!?!!?”
he has 100% proof he succeeded in getting the stones and winning , but he now has the knowledge that in the future the Avengers will try something after thats done. so he sits tight, does it all how it supposed to pan out, and when he comes to snap his fingers he also kills the remaining avengers that he knows will try and travel to the past. job done. end of movie.
and here is where i didnt like what happened with Thanos – his motivation to go the future was nonsense, which for me then breaks all timelines and stops the Avengers from doing what they were going to do – take the stones from the past and reverse Thanos-snap with their own in the future, without Thanos knowing – but now he’s come from the past and into the future, so there is no Thanos in the past anymore to do what he needs to do.

    now the movie is broken.

big battle, everyone happy to see 5 years people back with them with a nod and a smile…
oh no still going to lose
cap marvel tacked on again (why she wasnt there at the start – ah well lets forget that), yay she can destroy ships – yet somehow cannot destroy thanos without the stones
oh no still going to lose
    little brown truck lives
oh no still going to lose
tony stark – yay everyone lives

so ultimatley the film was from me Back to the future 2, something that failed on so many levels , only we dont have back to the future 3 to save it.

i get the feeling she’s lining up a cut in the workforce and bought in ‘spec’ parts (which is going to be something in the 2021 regs that FIA are trying to push to cut costs anyway)

I suspect Head will become a major player in the team and Clair might be sidelined and a figurehead just because of her surname.

was Paddy “not listened to”!??! thats also the suggestion made – and if not, why not!

Personally i think they are clinging on until the new regs are agreed upon for 2021 and then see where its at.

Williams admits ‘guilt’ in key team change
    Andrew Maitland
    April 4, 2019
Claire Williams has admitted she was responsible for a change in Williams’ team structure that resulted in the once-great outfit’s 2019 crisis.

She said that during Williams’ “four good seasons”, including third place finishes in the constructors’ championship in 2014 and 2015, she made the change.

“In order to preserve our results and even make progress, we changed something in the internal structure and it turned out to be a mistake,” she told France’s Auto Hebdo.

“It was my initiative and I admit my guilt.”

The result is clear to see in 2019, with Robert Kubica saying that in Australia and Bahrain, he is little more than a “passenger” in the Mercedes-powered car.

Williams said: “Believe me, we are not hiding our heads in the sand. We know where we are and what you need in order to win.

    “But it’s a long process.”

Indeed, it is not just a performance crisis at Williams, but a cultural one.

“We are trying to independently produce as many parts as possible, and we have 620 people working for us, which is a lot for the structure we have,” Claire said.

“To create the Williams of the future while preserving our culture is the task we are facing now.”

One part of that has been to send Paddy Lowe on leave, even though the highly respected Briton had been lured away from Mercedes to lead Williams back to the top.

“I don’t want to answer that question at the moment,” Williams said.

“It’s very difficult for me to talk about Paddy and his role in this.”

She will say that other engineers have picked up the slack for the now absent Lowe, adding: “I trust them completely and believe that we are moving in the right direction.

“Patrick Head has returned to us as a consultant and to support the engineers in such a difficult period.

“He has so much experience and has the sort of character that they really listen to him. His advice will be very valuable,” Claire Williams said.

Part of the problem, she admits, is that while the subsidiary Williams Advanced Engineering once generated income for the team, that is no longer the case.

“It was created in 2010 to support the racing team and in response to the drop in sponsors’ interest. But it now contributes little to the financing of the team.

“Our funding is almost entirely dependent on sponsors and F1 income,” she said.

So Williams warmly welcomes Liberty Media’s efforts to better distribute the revenue and drive down costs, especially via a budget cap.

“Everything that is now being discussed is moving in the direction that we need,” she said.

And so, Williams says, the famous team her father established is not giving up.

“We’ve been racing for 42 years because it is our passion,” she said.

“Yes, we are at the very back of the grid now, but I know that returning to the positions we deserve is only a matter of time. I would not be talking to you now if I wasn’t sure of that.”

Ross Brawn was on about getting rid of DRS as his ultimate goal, yet they just keep putting in more zones because FIA are scared of no overtakes and boring races. it makes it all seem a little false to me seeing drivers unable to defend against the massive difference in speed.
it also means once a driver is passed he can go off into the distance pretty quickly – in the old days he might be stuck behind for ages and be desperate to lunge/pass in order to not ruin his race or get up to the next driver in front.
they want close racing, yet they allow drivers to easily pass each other!

…jeez how many DRS zones can you fit into 1 circuit to “spice” up the show………..
imagine how crap F1 would be without them , started out as 1 zone, now every circuit has them at the start of every straight………….

Vettel is finished IMHO – he cannot handle pressure any more and he’s got it not only from merc but now his own teammate – if history of this guy is anything to go by, he’ll try too hard , make mistakes and throw wobblers – ferrari wont take anymore of his mistakes with a driver like LeClerc able to perform !

Seems F1 getting a bit of stick from Human Rights campaigners this weekend (see Guardian / Daily mail reports)

Also no word yet on the teams reactions to the new 2021 regulations – they have until June or July to ratify them or throw them out.
I wonder if Liberty will give up if this does not go through and just put it up for sale? they have certainly tried a lot of things , most of them blocked or ignored, and its ended up being a few new graphics on the TV, an online streaming service for countries without a current TV contract …. oh yeah and that new front wing that made racing so much better in the season opener (!)

Those Sky restrictions are crap, and its until 2024 too

F1 chief executive Chase Carey, incidentally, is on the board of Sky UK.

i know Formula E isnt any F1, but its not too bad a watch – what i dont understand is how the BBC is not promoting it or giving it any real air time – its all hidden away on RED BUTTON – despite them getting the rights of C5 (or was it QUEST) from it last year. bizarre.

its free on SKY ONE (well not actually free, but for non-sports subscribers) this for AUS GP and depending on how the season ends they usually stick it on SKY ONE when the title is over.
Also i think they do a full length repeat on SKY one on mondays

i saw on a different forum a cheapest way of using NOW TV passes combined with C4’s coverage due to time differences etc when like this weekend its on at early hours-o-clock.

the fact that Sky one gave a highlights package to C4 (well C4 paid for it i guess) suggests to me they are also scared about the drop – lets face it, if the season turns out to be a corker battle at the top, more people are likely to pay NOW TV or SKY to see it live as the season heats up , if all they are seeing is it in the papers or online headlines with no access to any coverage , then they wont get pulled in – a canny move from SKY i think.
Also i cannot see how sky can afford to make so much loss against the coverage, because they really must be doing so with the figures as they are – perhaps now they have it exclusively live they will drop the investment….
