Interesting topic guys and may I make a small hi-jack

I've been racing for the first time this year and love it. It has completely changed the way I think about riding my bike, I’d like to think that I’m now “training” rather than just riding.

I’ve got some books (Friel etc) an HRM and probably getting a Turbo for the winter… But at this stage would some more formal instruction be of benefit to me? Do you wish that you had a trainer early in your racing “career”?

    "Sold Gary Wilmot some GT85"

    Brilliant

I've introduce Barry McGuigan to Tony Hawk.

Barry was super nice, Tony was very quiet and nervous

Oh and give Becks Blue a try… non alcohol beer that's not bad at all

    Keep at it.

I've not really drunk since xmas, no wine of an evening or beer watching football and feel great. Lost a load of weight while still having the same diet.

Just get out of the habit

    Try neat wachining machine liquid.

Worked for me with a track pump when high concentration of washing up liquid/water didn't

But does this bridge actually and more importantly significantly protect/help the mouse population?

Is there good evidence that this will work or is it just a expensive follie.

    Ok you got me

Yep I fell for that one.

A 190k bridge for a mouse, good one you had me there….

    What it's 26th sept not April 1st.

    Absolute bollox

I presume people who are justifying it on here are just doing so for the hell of it.

Which ever idiots signed this off should be sacked.

"Bank holiday Friday? Reading is going to be the least of your worries…. "

Do I have the mistaken belief that by going from west to east I'll be going in the opposite, and hopefully right, direction of most of the holiday traffic.

How about with BMX inner tubes?

    Thats how I've done mine.

I used Schwable ones, as they have a removable core which makes inflation easier, cost about a fiver for each wheel.

"Surely this will be the year when the Spuds overtake Arsenal yet again?"

We live in hope, we live in hope.

I can honestly say I have never been sooooo happy about a football result than when we beat them a few months ago…. (this is not a wind up to arsenal fans, I say it with repect and admiration to an excellent opponent… that's why it felt sooo good)

Ha… yep you are right…. fannying about with the ball in the last third without getting a shot away… just like lots of other Arsenal players

    Today

Picking my phone up in work this morning and hearing 26month old baby Rosie say "ello Daddy"

    A few years ago…

2 foot of fresh snow over night followed by a blue bird morning and that moment you take, for only a few seconds, after you've double tightened your bindings and are just about to drop into a perfect powder field.

How about Songs for the Deaf by Queens of the Stone Age.

A pretty cool concept of dailing (sp) though your car radio and picking up rocking tunes.

Maybe I was a little too quick in singing too the man city fans on saturday

"Thrusday night, channel 5" (too the "champion league, you aving a laugh" tune)

    Nah, we should be OK.

But it's not been the best start to the season.

    Disappointed and frustrated……. what's new.

Don't check your buggy in at the desk, as others have said above, if the line for passport control/security in long you'll wanna strap the rug rat in the chair… mind it's a PITA when you do reach the scanners.

On your tubeless thoughts…. Bugaboos' (SP) big wheels are full with gel these day. Because the UK market (they are made in Holland) couldn't fix the wheels when punctured.

I've been chased by a folk of goats… that doesnt sound right… whats the collective noun for goats ?

I rode pass a thicket of bushes and heard something move, thats sounds quite big I thought to myself, then 20 or so goats ran out towards me. Luckily it was summer and the ground was hard, think I may have struggled to out run them on softer ground. I got to the gate 300 yards away with my heart pounding through excitement more than fear and looked back. The biggest of the brutes was launching himself off a bench and butting his mate standing on the ground as if to say to me "came back here and this is what you'll get"

Thank for all your thoughts… all good

Not defo say no to road in the future, I'm just not at that point of commitment/desire yet.

Going to keep racing my “virgin year” this year and plan to actually “train” for next year and then see what happens. I’m only ever going to be average, time/family will see to that, but as long as I’m trying and improving thats good enough for me. I just really love the competition. It adds a whole new angle to riding your bike

Which is why I mentioned the Garmin 305, I believe to allows you to race yourself around a course/your local loop that you have set into it…. Anyone got one, use this feature, what do you think?

Yeah clubs,I had been thinking about those… but thay seem to involve the darkside… and I'm not sure I like racing that much to go out on the road…. I will however make contact with the local club and see how I get on… good idea.

There are 200 nuggets on his desk… although they are in their boxes… I think they should be laid out on one big plate.

They are macdonald nuggets… he has various dips and is allow to drink water… no chucking but he can p00 ( obviously that will eat into his time)
