Anyone think speaking about how your bikes are locked on a easily visible internet forum is a stupid thing to do? What if some one knows where you live and they now know what they need to knick your pride and joy(s), your bikes.

Looking at the BB prices it’s becoming clear I should be changing to HT11 as they are stupidly expensive these days.

compared to a HT2 BB octalinks are cheap.. plus they last longer.
Not sure where you will get a new cup though. Has it just cracked down the mould lines? It’ll be fine if it has.

you could argue it work hardens until it’s brittleness causes failure, if you were a metallurgist….

That’s true but generally unless your frame flexes loads(I mean massive amounts), then a steel frame can easily last a life time.

Ti is just as likely to break as any other frame material. However it won’t corrode or lose its ‘springiness’ as much as steel or aluminium.

Steel does not lose its ‘springyness’ does it? It just fatigues so flexes more and more until it snaps.

Surely that sort of graft is a bit mental when you can get a grinder really cheap? Then you’ve got it for all sorts of other stuff.

Get a grinder with a grinding disc, a cutting disc and a sanding disc. Never need to use a file or a hacksaw again..

Pump them up to 60psi! Bit bumpier, but NO punctures

I tried this once, When running WTB Velociraptors. If I went above 30psi I got punctures no end. Below 30 psi none at all..

I heard this would never happen because you can get steel 25.4mm bars which the dirt jump kids with rigid forks use because 31.8 stress and snap…

too much fluid in the system, not allowing enough flow back into the reservoir to let the pistons sit far enough into the calliper.
Not a bloody clue how you sort it cos I dont have hydro’s. I’m just pretty much sure that’s the issue.
You could take the reservoir cap off and push the pistons back which should push the excess fluid out possibly?

Well my dad runs a 9 speed derailleur with a 8 speed shifter and that works fine, so I would have thought it work work the other way and with 10 speed, no?

I got one, went on a day to Gisburn, me and 2 others. Half way round one of my mates snapped there chain then split it to try make a single speed, but forgot to feed back through front derailleur.

    So that failed.

We carried on with him riding a chainless bike. Obviously me and my other mate took off as we couldn’t be arsed waiting, Stopped after ever ‘checkpoint’ and waited for him. Got to one and he came round and went oh now I’ve got a flat tyre(he brought no spare tubes, and I had already had a flat) So we said OK, go back up through the fire roads and up to the start we’ll meet you there.
We reached the start and there was no sign of him for about 20 minutes, We had no signal on our phones.
About 45 minutes later after going back through all the forestry roads in the car he returned to the pub after getting a lift from the lake at the bottom.

    Was a long day.

When you put the rotor on without locking it down does it move on the splines? or if not that, The discs are riveted to the aluminium carrier, maybe there’s play in the rivets.

    6 seconds too late.

sure its not brake pads moving in the brake caliper?

I very much agree mark. My comments were offensive. Although if I was banned for it I would not follow it up, I would just move on.

you know travel, meet people from different places/backgrounds…

I know people from down south, many of them. My girlfriend lives on a council estate.
Some of my friends are from council estates….

Generalising from limited information and limited experience is one of the most common sources of misconceptions and one of the most common expressions of ignorance.

    Agreed.

Although I would have thought the the views I stated, the southern softies one specifically is more known than people who ride with SPD’s are gay, so it is more likely to be taken as a joke? is it not?

if people reported him for taking the piss, maybe i should of reported the R.lepecha for abusing southerners and people who grew up on council estates? but found his adolescent indignation rather funny!

I was not offending anyone on council estates, I was merely stating the information I have concluded about council estates from my years of living.

Although I was offensive to southerners. Though that is also info I have gained from my years of living.

If some one starts ranting at you, ride faster 🙂
Although I’ve never been ranted at. Oh maybe once, though that wasn’t a footpath.I was doing a little trail maintenance and they didn’t like it.

Madison Flux shorts are better than Endura Humvee’s IMO. The liner is much better. Not sure about gloves though.

I cant see how its a problem in the wet but not the dry. The majority of the trails are sand. Wet sand goes hard/compact and doesn’t really stick to anything. In the dry it gets thrown up as dust to the pads etc.

Or are my thoughts wrong? well they must be since everyone else has problems in the wet.

Never knackered any of my cables in Dalby? Your braking and shifting too much. Go singlespeed and you wont brake as much. Problem solved.
