I’m not being funny but it is quite difficult to outride anyone on a “bicycle” consisting solely of a frame, forks, seatclamp and front wheel (sans tyre). If I were you, I’d be challening him to a race – NOW.

thats his new build, hes got a gt.

He’s told me I’m the dick when all I stated in the first place was I dislike the build, and he came along and flamed my bike, and I’m the dick. I was only stating an opinion that was no harm to anyone.

However you are 15 and have much to learn about the big bad world.

    agreed.

Not sure if his bike’s better or even if he’s a better rider. But I’d be willing to bet his punctuation is better. And THAT’S what really matters on this forum, my friend.

his punctuation is worse, and he constantly uses shortened terms for things.

Well if your going to fit in here you might need some sandals and a single speed.

I am thinking of single speed and rigids.

All forums have (at least) their fair share of people lacking even the most basic social skills. It is true even of STW.

I wont doubt you on that fact, because it is true, there just seems to be a lot more of them on well certain forums

but its not about what bike you ride, its just that you actually ride. were all one big community, even the family type cyclists, we all ride.

Those must be fake, they wont give you the same placebo effect.

how can it not give the placebo affect, the word placebo describes that basically the band does nothing its all psychology. so therefore a 1.19 one will do the same thing as the £30 one

    wow cheap

there you go, 1.19. i might buy one and see the results.

it doesnt make the computer any faster than it would with the windows one, it just does it faster and also can optimize the system(basicly using usage statistics put the ones use the most at the start of the disk and so on) and i havent noticed a difference in system speed from the windows one and the 3rd party.

download auslogistics defrag, not used the windows one since vista because it was absolute rubbish, it took 3 hours to defrag a freshly installed pc with windows vista and only AVG installed.

made my bike back dual ring, my home made chain device inevitavley failed as the chain fell of the roller every so often on the rough stuff. and basicly did my routene check of all the bolts.

my mates got a large camleback. yet mines smaller, he carries less tools, but more bloody food. hydration packs with some space for tools, money and food are a necessity on a decent long ride. i mean who doesnt take a bag of tang fantastics at the minimum on a long ride? they would annoy me in a pocket.

what type of bodys though, you put dead ones down and then cover them with stones and mud so that you do less digging ;)

riden it all on a 100mm xc hardtail. found it good fun. only bit we didn’t do was the northshore. as at the time it was abit wet and the northshore isn’t massivley well maintained. but my mates have since gone again and riden the northshore too on simmilar bikes. not found any of it difficult to ride. just keep your body realy slack because some of the larger rocks can realy throw you of balance so just soak it up with your bodys suspension.

had this done to me so many times.. but if you resort to pavement riding(quiet ones) people on the pavement moan. so what can you do. some one pulled out on my dad on his commute home from work once(driver not paying attention or maybe thought they had right of way) so my dad slowed down quick enough so he could nudge into the car without going over the bars. rather hard nudge since it dinted there door.

worce time I’ve nearly been knocked of on the road was coming home from lothertonhall. there were 3 of us coming down this road(no pavements) so we were right up against the grass verges. a hgv and a flat bed van came past and both of them were very very few centimeters away from our bars the back of the flatbed actually clipped my bar. but we couldn’t swerve or anything because there was a grass verge in the way.

when he replaced the chain he had new chainrings and cassette too.

    R.lepecha

he broke 1 chain many times, and he snapped a brand new one within a week, thats more than just 1 chain.

    R.lepecha

yes mud makes mroe difference to the time length they last, but in my mates case it doesnt, his chain is degreased with a biodegradable cleaner every ride and lubed back up with a silicone lubricant

i was there when that was happening too, think i heard he had broke his wrist, knocked himself unconscious for a while and broken his nose.
both times ive been to dalby theres been a crash needing an ambulance, we went in may this year too and some one crashed and got airlifted away,
people trying things they cant do.

    R.lepecha

    and

Of course chains can snap, but it’s not really as endemic as some folk seem to think. Shock horror, but 8 speed ones break too. In fact, I see a lot more bikes through the shop with broken 8 speed chains than 9, ergo 8 speed chains break more.

thats probably because the people who run 8 speed chains general dont maintain there bikes and never change the chain in the lifetime of the bike, so therefore it, inevitably snaps.

    R.lepecha
    Full Member

thats also true, i actually have a 7 speed bike too, but parts are so difficult to find for it now.

    R.lepecha
    Full Member

and you saying halfords bikes are all 9 speed, no there 8 speed, the whole bloody lot of them below £400. same in evans, same in any bike shop that sells bikes under £400. never believed 9 speed gets anyone anywhere, i still ride faster on an 8 speed than any of my mates that have 9 speed, point proven, plus they have the full 3 rings up front, i have just the 1.

and well, the chain snapping does stand, my mate snapped a 9 speed chain like 4 times in 2 months, so his new one was fitted by the bike shop and it snapped within a week.

Because it’s seriously old! They’ll keep doing chains and cassettes, which are the likely parts to need. They don’t do 6 speed Dura Ace any more either. It’s called obsolescence.

so are v brakes, there even more seriously old. single speed? older. people still run this stuff, and they still sell this stuff, just not 8 speed!

    R.lepecha
    Full Member

and all the chains that snap every 2 minutes, sounds fun. there making step down type cassettes to run a 9 tooth lower rear cog, rite. so then they might just go 11 speed to accommodate this small cog.

10 is a much rounder number then 8, and 9 is a square number, which makes them better.

good reason, everyone go ten speed!:)
