who rides small to small, I’m sure centre to centre would give as gear of a same ratio? small to small is the worse idea ever because it wears the chain quicker.

i always to the same tyres front and rear cause it looks right

isn’t the whole idea that it works better than how it looks?

that chainset looks like it might need a clean once he pulls it out of that grass

Simply stated, bed-in is the process of depositing an even layer of brake pad material, or transfer layer, on the rubbing surface of the rotor disc.

you are very right there, because if you put a new disc on old pads the old pads will wear much quicker than they did with the old disc.

    gearbox

Back in the days of oil bath chaincases it was not unheard of to get 20,000 miles or more out of a chain.

but the oil will add to the weight of the product

enhance the power of walking around with at least one hand down the front of your trousers at all times… apparently if gives you skillzz

and your trousers down bellow your arse.

Now I’m not kidding myself that I’m a good rider yet, I can’t manual, I can’t wheelie and I still have nerves riding stuff that picks up too much speed or shakes me about too much. But I’m riding for longer without stopping and there’s a 2 1/2ft drop that I’ve always avoided… that last night I rolled over in a smooth controlled manner for the second time.

that’s OK, I still cant manual or wheelie my self and I’m at the perfect time in life to learn(yoof, chavs sit and manual and wheelie for ever)I just well cant do it.
But I don’t have a problem with nerves I just get on with it.

being a yoof myself. i hate the bloody idea. its done by straping a belt down tight to your legs it restricts blood flow and movement. i will never buy a pair of jeans like that. its bloody silly.

true progress renders the old technology completely obsolete – and that hasn’t happened for a while.

exactly, I mean octa-link was meant to make square taper obsolete and HTII is meant to make octa-link obsolete, but square taper is still around and it probably always will be along with octalink. the sealing on such square tapers and octa-links are so much better than on HTIIs, and I cant tell the supposed stiffness increase with HTII,

15mm axles are pointless, I agree the industry has peaked with the technology at the moment, there’s no drastic change just trying to fix things that don’t need fixing. 20mm and 9mm QR are all we need and 1 1/8th and 1.5 inch head tubes are all we need. we don’t need tapered and 15mm axles, there pointless, Shimano wanted a through axle that works with splined rotors. why don’t they just make the splines bigger on the QR wheels so that they can take 20mm axles too, centre lock rotors still seem really pointless to me as well, did anyone ever have a problem with 6 bolt? 10 speed is a waste of time in my opinion too.

I get pads to last for atleast 11-12 months with Disco Organcic pads, the power is less when cold but as the warm up they get more powerfull. Ive rode these pads through last winter on the front and they were still like brand new coming into spring.
whereas the current Tektro standard pads in the back hardly last at all.

Just wondering how you adjust the angle the clamp sits at so you can adjust the attitude of the bike?

you cant, i havent incorperated that into the design because its a GCSE project not A-level, i just dont have the time to incorparate everything into the design.

yes it will be curved and its all not exact, it will be a quick release to adjust the height I just couldn’t be bothered designing a qr. and it will a U section, im not having one bent for me.

changed the design even though I cant see it working as well.

true, I’m not changing the design as I didn’t ask for idea’s I just asked for measurements.
I’ve never had a problem clamping to the top tube, yes you cant put new cables on and stuff like that when it clamps there but I’m not bothered.

Have you actually seen folk working on bikes on stands?

yes, they clamp to the seat post, I know they do, but that isn’t the balance point of the bike. where as somewhere along the top tube is the balance point.

What about something that supports under the bb and downtube?

That would get round the issues of tt diameter and odd formed frames etc.

the frame wouldn’t be held flat and the frame would move so the tt diameter would still come into play to clamp it.

    Better clamping the seatpost IMHO.

thats also miles away from the balance point of the bike. so it makes the stand a lot less stable.

I think CRC are having some problems at the moment, I ordered a tyre and it came before it was even dispatched according to CRC.

thats why hes using it on a kona A, the suspension on which pivots around the bb…..

    ah right fair enough.

    R.lepecha

isn’t the whole idea of a derrailleur other than to change gears to keep the chain tight when the distance between the crank set and cassette increases/decreases when you enter into the travel of a full suspension bike? I may be wrong but how the hell is a belt meant to stretch to let you actually use the suspension?

variety is the spice of life my friend, my boy enjoys his DS and PS3, but he bloomin loves his mountain bike even more. And while we’re on subject I see a lot of overweight men on bikes, probably me included.

agreed, had a ps1 and ps2 when I was younger,I never played them hardly.Got a psp, played that more on planes and stuff. Now I don’t play computer games at all, yet the rest of the community is blown away by COD4,5,6 and on. there rubbish.

I knew there would be something!!

So I’ve just spent the last hour trying to get the tyre to seal! Found there is a snakebite through the tyre. One slit on the top & one slit about a 1mm away from the bead!

The air is escaping from the slit just above the tyre bead. I’ve tried putting sealant in the tyre, jiggling it about then pumping it up. The sealant comes out the slit, then the air. Then I’m back to square one, tyre won’t stay inflated.

    Am I doing something wrong?

i belive you need a new tyre then, unless you patch it up like a tube.

Honestly why don’t you like your mates ride? Is it because it’s better than yours or because he is a better rider?

well concidering im the better rider its not that, i dont like the colour scheme or anything, but yeah his bikes better than mine but i dont want it, i like my ride, he likes his. like this charge guy also likes his ride. all of us like different things, none of us are jealous of each other, if i realy wanted to i could build up a simmilar bike but i dont want to.

Surely its just his opinion that he doesn’t like your build and that you’re a dick

only my opinion wasn’t offensive towards him or anything.
