    I’m 6’3″ and have been riding a 20″ Large X3 since Nov 09.

I’ve kept it pretty much stock – swapped the saddle before MM 10 for long day out comfort…

Bike fits very well, although felt short compared to 21″ Lucky Strike.

I do like to have my backside a long way back – and the one thing that I didn’t like about the Anthem to start with was that my bum and hips seemed too far forward compared to the bottom bracket and the cockpit. This did deem to shove my weigh too far forward for comfort (and control) when riding

Adjusting the saddle as far back as it would go (and then slapping it back some more) sorted this little foible after the first ride. Nothing more I’d change now, get on really well with this bike, quick, energy efficient, sure footed…

Did a bit as a farm labourer 20+ years ago.

Quals? – we’re obsessed with the bloody things these days. It takes some brawn, some common sense and a good “feel” for the materials.

    Strangely rewarding though……..

Out of interest I contacted a few papers a few years back with a story.. I’d been accidently e-mailed the entire customer database of a large Manchester brothel.. had doctors, university lecturers etc listed as clients.. several papers were v interested, and offered a lot of cash but decided against selling – would have broken up a lot of marriages and caused a lot of misery, ain’t worth the cash..

Was funny reading though, especially the girls “comments” section about each client..

That would make a good thread – suitably redacted of course…

…oh, and you were on the mailing list, because…?

Wireless bridge ? Plugs into your ethernet LAN port and connects to your wireless network

Just searched those on amazon – damn they’re not cheap!!
Ethernet ports on my Netgear n router have packed up, so it only works via wireless (without the desktop 😕 ).

New router would be cheaper for me

Cheers folks – some great posts, esp aracer & STS.

What I’ve always wanted to do is cover distance – through the woods, uphill, downhill, etc, but not on the silly skinny competition skis that you see in the Winter Olympic Nordic events.

Funnily enough, I’ve always been really good at “skating” my alpine skis – often to the annoyance of group companions when it comes to getting a quick start or avoiding punting accross flat sections. Always put it down to being long legged and relatively strong.

Fair enough if he calls himself Gideon.

But is his chosen name, George, a political deception?

    As for…

Get into what he’s done not where he comes from, it’s not particularily hard to do.

Please enlighten? SFA comes to mind, except political croneyism and belong to an elite club (much the same as most of the career politicos TBH)

There have been claimed links to Alzheimers, possibly now de-bunked. It’s a pretty reactive metal, but that results in a “skin” of oxide on the outside.

I wouldn’t leave any acidic food in an aluminium pot for any length of time – eg pickles / fruit juice.

The secret to woodburners is to “turn them in”.

ie, when the wood is burning, turn the airflow (or top damper if you have one) as low as possible without putting the fire out.

The wood will then just smoulder away – almost getting to a pyrolysis reaction, giving out a large amount of heat over a long time period.

However, as everyone else has commented – season your own wood. You do need a covered log shed / store.

think the GPS is more accurate than a wheel sensor, unless you are having particularly bad reception problems, which I certainly don’t get.

I can believe that for a road bike – where the pace is steady and the course is smooth and straight.

Find it harder to accept for a mtb on singletrack. I suspect that we change direction and speed far more frequently than the GPS accuracy can accomodate

ETA – added to which all this twisty , turny, uppy, downy, slowed down by rocks, accelerate down chutes stuff often happens under, or in and out of, tree cover…

Hehe – I tried tuning my AC Cobra to get through the historic race car event. Power was ample (- 780bhp?), downforce and and any semblance of control totally absent!!

ETA – Yes, in GT5 you will see the AI loose it without any input from the driven car…

It does give you a more accurate distance as well as cadence!

Does it also use the wheel distance to compute speed? One of my previous reservation on GPS computers was whether the GPS based speed sensor was accurate enough

patch it but dont expect it to last

Don’t need it to last – just dont want to pay out for pads, tyres and exhaust all at one go.

AI is still a weak point in the series, especially the way that they bash you up if you get in their way (I think this is why damage isn’t implemented in the GT Mode career – AI isn’t smart enough).

However, it seems to me to be improved on previous iterations of the game. The AI will now make mistakes and get out of shape themselves.

Have a look at Club Med. They are very good at offering ski holidays for families with young kids (certain resorts)

However, I’m not sure that their kids ski clubs go as young as that!!!

Surely, there can be no doubt that Labour presided over one of the most stable and benign economic times any of us can remember?

Whether it was merely their good fortune to do so, a squandered opportunity or down to astute financial management by Brown will be debated for years and will inevitably be coloured by political opinion.

You get some nice’ish cars.. I did the Licences first, to get a feel for the tracks and types of cars.

Granted, and you get cash and experience points.

But the tests are pretty much identical to the previous releases.

I can’t see any point to the licence tests now that they don’t unlock access to the higher levels of the game.

Rubbish, given time and budget it could easily match or surpass the flying scenes.

Really? I can’t see it with current tech – where it has been attempted it looks, at best, like a computer game.

Clearly rendered graphics rather than real objects – the sweeping scenes of the invasion fleets in Pacific are a good example.

Too ordered as well, the randomness of “real” filmed scenes is missing. Again, the scenes in the Pacific that use cgi to recreate multiple assets that are no longer available – too ordered.

The cgi in Memphis Belle, for example, is crap (too old to be comparable), but one of the most realistic looking scenes is the B17 crash at the beginning. Unfortunately they crashed a B17 during a flying accident, and happened to have the cameras rolling. Can’t possibly advocate that sort of thing as planned, but it demonstrates what can’t be convincingly done in a virtual environment.

I can’t see any way that the Dambusters could be re-made today. Same applies to Battle of Britain, 633 Squadron, Cruel Sea etc.

They were all made at a time when the aircraft (ships etc) required were still available in sufficent numbers to make it look convincing. Yes, the special effects were pants compared to today, but no amount of cgi could conjure the flying scenes in any of those films.

Previously have wondered what all the fuss is about, but admit to having been swayed over the holiday period and keeping in contact with friends / relatives who are further away (combined with skype).

Can’t quite work out the business model though…? Presumably all the revenue is from advertising (and the Govt payments for data mining….)

I think it is very dependent on tyre choice. A high powered rwd car, designed to use race tyres, will be very slidy with sport tyres.

This is the problem with the Lotus on the TG Challenge. IIRC it has comfort / standard road tyres, and drives like it’s on ice. I don’t generally use traction control or skid force recovery – but there are times when these need to be considered

Currently more HD channels on FreeVIEW (no C4 on Freesat for the forseeable future) but long term potentially more HD channels on Freesat (Freeview unlikely to ever have many more than the 4 it has now).

Freeview isn’t an option. We went satellite when we moved to our current house as the terrestrial reception is non-existant

    rkk01

You can change front / rear brake balance, which can be useful on FR / RR cars.

Which car? The Lotus Elise on the TG challenge is a bitch to control and more front brake bias is supposed to help stop the back coming out under braking – but that doesn’t sound like the problem you’re having…

All driving aids off except ABS set to 1 seems to be a common setup – possibly to reign in this behaviour?

it really jerks my gherkin when a seemingly benign film ends with a big religious message about how god looks after certain people. like at the end of that post-apocalyptic will smith film. urgh

Watched a Nicholas Cage DVD last year. Three quarters or more through it went from sci-fi (ish) thriller to god squad nonsense.

We’ve got an old dish from when we had Sky years ago, and have used it to watch free to air satellite channels ever since we stopped the subs.

Now, it only has one aerial feed into the house.

If we go Freesat+, can I use a splitter to provide two separate coax input feeds for simultaneous HDD recording / watching, or do I need to get a separte feed from the aerial receiver?

dambusters was made in 1955 i suspect it would be difeent if it was made now.

Of course, it is a product of it’s time (and our cultural outlook). Don’t forget, US films of this sort of era (ok, maybe 10 years later) would have had John Wayne running around winning the war single handed.

If anything, recent (post Platoon?) US war films have come more into line with our outlook – futlity, failure, less whiter than white characters.

Although even last year’s Pacific had the sugar coating of following most of the men through to their everything will be ok in the end post war survival (and I don’t mean that to take anything away from the USMC survivors that were portrayed). This is one area where Band of Brothers was probably better than Pacific. BoB was far grittier in this respect.

ETA – and of course, US films almost always have to have that easy to digest, unequivocal, white vs black , good vs evil, us vs them message. US films do that to this day, whereas British films don’t tend to follow this rather sickening format
