Nibali stormed it – absolutely brilliant, totally in the zone. Geraint Thomas also smashed it at the end.

I for one welcome these stages in the grand tours – Contador et al are just annoyed that they could not match Nibali’s bike handling skills.

Some food for thought here. It’s not that I am miserable (although at times maybe) just that I have not really felt part of the “team” for over a year now and really cannot wait to leave. If one is arranged, all gone a bit quite, then I will go as as some of you have mentioned I do not want to burn bridges/leave an impression of being a dick (more than I already have)

@acid – work nights out are career enhancing, assuming you behave ! You should think of them as part of your job. Just saying.

I spend enough time at work – don’t mind a quick pint after work but a whole evening, time away from work is precious, I love my evenings and weekends!!

It’s a meal 20 miles from home so if I do have to go I was thinking of heading for the meal and then making my excuses. I would also drive so avoiding the issue of drinking but getting the train could provide an alternative way to get out early…

Found myself half way through this game not wanting Costa Rica to lose…they seem to deserve it a lot more than England. Positive, committed, organised.

f Super Mario wants his kiss off the queen he want to try staying onside. Just for the novelty value

Ridiculous number of off-sides in this game.

What are the odds of an all Central/South American semi final round?

The Italy game gave hope. The Uruguayan game gave reality.

One suspects that they perhaps felt that they were going to play a weaker team and that just didn’t happen, as you say Uruguay were determined and did what they had to do, when they had to do it.

    Other 50%:
Should the Uruguayans have been down to 10 men?
Should Roy have kept the same formation that he used against Italy?
Should Ashley Cole have been playing at left back?

There are lots of reasons why Uruguay won last night – the English team being less than 50% of those, and the singing of the national anthem being a tiny proportion of that.

Understand this my point being that they just did not look up for it. Indeed this is my main bug bear – English players don’t seem to want to prove themselves in an England shirt. Too much adoration from club supporters and press. Also agree about trying to get players working together but last night we had five Liverpool players and even they could not work together (apart from Gerrard and Suárez)

I love football and I am in no way a lover of the monarchy but I am in agreement with Mr Woppit here. The anthem is a chance to show how ready and united you are and I did not get that feeling during it. The England players played how they sung – with fear and trepidation.

I did wonder about Gerrardo and Lamps doing their little speech about the pain of going home early from tournaments

Agree – what a way to put the fear into people! Go out, enjoy it, try to play your best and everyone will be happy.

No we are not world beaters but we should be able to put up a good show for ourselves.

Pointless. Bottlers again, in the end star power wins games and unfortunately we just don’t have that yet. And to top things off that dimwit Hart is now trying to sell me shampoo. 😥

    [What’s the over/under on Suarez dives ?]

Highly likely – if he does play I want to see some hard tackles going in on him early.

Loving this world cup so far..keep putting off turbo sesisons as well as actual rides to watch it. First time my kids (9 & 6) have taken an active interest in watching football – they are also really getting into it. My 6yo son loves it – creeps down every night and sits and watches it with me in for 10 minutes goes back to bed comes down again five minutes later for another 10 minutes!! My thoughts are that it only happens every four years and hopefully he will have the same memories I have of watching 86 and 90

EDIT: England 2-0 winners (preying that Rooney gets at least one so that attention can be focused elsewhere)

I subscribe to Hasbean’s In My Mug weekly coffee (you get 250g a week for £6.50). Coffee is excellent, you get a different single origin each week and taste varies week on week so some weeks I get one that I really like whilst others I get some that are not to my taste but still quality coffee. 250g usually lasts me a week (2 cups a day during week 3 cups a day w/e) Overall I love it.

Relieved that there are other kids doing it and adults letting their kids do it!! My 3 year old could spend an age watching Disney Collector if we let him!!Also spends a lot of time watching the various re-enactments of Spiderman – some of good, others are just creepy – always have to be around I-Pad when he is on there.

Thanks again for help and advice. Taken a look at the physio links and spoken to hospital again who say I need none at this time. TBH it is weight bearing and I can walk around on crutches so it’s not actually as bad as some those above so feel the need to man up a bit. Managed to get some chores done around the place today but it took about five times as long and the use of crutches as extendable arms.

Thanks for all the kind words and support. Spent yesterday doing some research around exercise and diet and hopefully I have put a successful plan together. TBH feel more sorry and upset that my wife now has to deal with three children without major help from me for a while as well as trying to sort out our new house!

We are currently in the process of selling our house and buying a new one and are in the haggling phase. How much do people really expect to be knocked off? We have marketed our house at a good price taking into account the little things that might need doing and have come down on the original offer – why should I take any more off? Same for the one we are buying, asking price reflects condition. In the op case surely the cost of new kitchen etc would have been factored into the asking price therefore negating the need to haggle massively on the price unless of course it is widely overpriced and therefore I apologise for making a negative slur 🙂

From my point of view before got my road bike I was getting out about once a month – now I am out three/four times a week due to reasons stated elsewhere – soon as kids asleep I can get out, no driving to trails/loading up bike. Sure its not a s good as getting out on the trails but at least it means I am out getting some exercise and actually quite enjoy it – it helps living on the coast though!

    Hi,

    slight hijack –

Just about to get my first road bike in order to try and regain some fitness – how many miles do you have to put in a week to see any real rise in fitness? How many times should I aim to get out? At the moment I am averaging an off road ride about once a month and am struggling to make them last due to fitness levels!

    Cheers,
    Rich.

I.m a teacher and have had a few family issues this year – miscarriage, wife ill through pregnancy, child having an operation, and a new baby and my head has been brilliant – no questions asked just given me time off. Done the same for others as well. This is one of the reasons that I am staying put, and don’t mind putting extra effort in, despite quite a heavy workload – makes all the difference knowing that if I need family time then I can have it. Its how the world should be.
