Si, how is it that you go on and on about Chumbas I have no interest in and as soon as there's one I might actually fancy, not a peep?

Gaah, Associates. How could I forget the Associates? I've got everything they've ever done. On vinyl for Pete's sake.

We powdercoat 8ft diameter, 2mm thick reflectors for antennas and they maybe move 0.1mm as they go through the ovens. I'd be surprised if a bike frame distorted by a noticeable amount.

I was thinking about the new XTRs, but having seen a non-press-shoot picture I'm not convinced they're pedal of god I was expecting.

I demoed one at GT and it's a really nice bike. Climbs well, descends in an entirely acceptable manner and looks really quite attractive. It does have a very low bottom bracket, though. To the extent that I smashed my toes into rocks and stuff.

That would be CS50/45, but I'm after CS50 normalised. Thanks for having a look, though.

I've got The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula LeGuin and The Road on the go just now.

    I liked the 3rd Policeman.

I had a Spesh Deviant and found it very good. Relatively light and well vented in comparison to pretty much every other full face I've tried.

I used to struggle in interviews, mainly because I didn't understand what the the interviewer was trying to get out of it. In frustration, I bought a book called "Killer Interviews" by Ball & Ball and found it really useful. It helped me focus on what I was good at and get that across in the interview. It also helps a lot to understand how an interviewer thinks it should progress as this allows you to turn it rouond if it starts going badly. I went from not getting most of the jobs I interviewed for to almost always getting an offer.

I'd be interested in a test of the current crop of posh shocks. Maybe CCDB, Elka Stage 5, Bos Stoy and Fox RC4 all run on the same reference bike to see if they really make that much difference for non-downhill-mentalist riding.

Dalbeattie, then Kirroughtree, then Drumlanrig, then Mabie.

Someone may be along shortly to say that they've fixed the last rubbish bit of Ae, in which case it probably doesn't matter which one you choose as they're all fun.

engineers (degree qualified, experienced, capable, skilled) as a rule, don't get anywhere near £40k.

    You need to renegotiate.

    I'm pretty sure I do.

    Meh.

You can work out how to put up pictures, or you can build pretty much the perfect bike.

Clearly, pictures should be your priority.

I had one made at work for a mate. I've got the drawing somewhere if you want it (although it's at work, and I'm off next week). A machine shop will charge you £25-£40 to make one.

Nylon is fairly inexpensive and has a reasonable range of properties. Something like a PBT or PPS would be stronger, but more expensive. Up to 20% glass would help, much more than that and and the threads can become brittle.

Alpine 160 if you're less worried about it climbing well, Transition Covert if you want something that will do most things well.

Where do you buy 2ft long stems?

I've been running 140 Floats. Not fantastic for climbing, but not disastrously bad either. Good for almost everything else, though.

Saying that, I've just spaced them down to 120. Haven't ridden it yet so can't offer a comparison.

Incidentally, I'm 5'7 and ride a 17.5, so I suspect you'd be better off with the 19.5. I've not ridden a Hustler, but the Handjob has bags of standover compared to a Hummer if that's any help.

Thanks for the comments, initial panic over. The damper is now in.

Unfortunately both the lockout lever and rebound knob are jammed solid.

I'm giving up and going to bed.

They've always been pretty good with me, but I ordered some pedals on the 16th and they're still showing as "Processing". Starting to see a bit of a pattern here…
