Gaaah! They’re saying it might take up to a week before they can even look at it. I don’t really fancy commuting 120 miles a day on my Handjob.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll call them in the morning and see what they say.

Did you have the key in the ignition when it was locking itself?

Got one of the cardi type things, it’s fine, hasn’t shrunk despite my devil may care attitude to chucking it in the washing machine.

I’m not sure if they’re 520s or something lower (is there such a thing?). I was out on SPDs today for the first time in ages and found them a great help, hence the question. I have flats already, so as a suggestion it’s not adding an enormous amount to the whole “what SPDs should I get thing”.

Are eggbeaters not a trifle prone to falling to bits?

I’ll mask it off myself, so it should be fine. I’ll have a look at esp and recoat, ta.

    What’s wrong with flat pedals?

Nowt, and I shall continue to use them for occasions where I scream like a small, scared child whilst clipped in.

I’ve used rapid setting Araldite 2 part epoxy successfully. I think it’s either a red or and orange tube. I tried Superglue, but it came away after a few weeks.

The answer to this question is always the same. Bunnahabhain. If you like peaty, or even if you don’t, my wife who has an O-level in whiskey says you need to try this.

Please don’t cross her, she’ll just make me pay.

He’s got watchmen and V for Vendetta, don’t think he espacially took to League of Extraordinary Gentleman. I’ll have a look at Freakangels, Supergods, Batman Prey and Crossing Midnight. Thanks for the suggestions.

I don’t think Specialized are bringing the SX Trail into the UK this year (I’ll probably be corrected in a minute by someone who knows what they’re talking about). The Alpine 160 would seem to tick all the boxes, although the Orange Blood is worth a look too.

I demoed one and found it climbed very well considering the amount of travel and was pretty good fun everywhere else, but I agree on the sizing. I’m 5’7 and the small was anything but. The lack of standover made me discount it as a possibility. The Alpine 160 does most things better.

The Desire HD is quite a bit cheaper, if that swings it at all. I just got one on Orange for 25 quid a month with the phone for free.

But only because I could never afford one of these:

I’ve just noticed that the elevator is made by a company called Schindler, which makes it Schindler’s lift.

I suspect I’m finding that a lot funnier than it actually is.

The restaurant’s not bad and the room’s are above average. Not convinced I’ll get out of the car park in the morning, though.

Intense Uzzi maybe? More or less the same frame as the SS, but less travel and a bit easier to pedal.

EDIT: obviously I typed that before I read your next post.

The Covert climbs just fine, descends well and jumps better than most of the other 5-6″ trail bikes I’ve tried. If I hadn’t set my heart on an Alpine 160 it’s probably what I’d be having.

If you don’t have a copy, this is a pretty good option:

    SolidWorks Student Edition

TBH, it’s not that hard to pick up if you’ve used another CAD system in the past.

If you’re feeling adventurous, Comme Des Garcons (the stuff in the clear bottle), otherwise Micheal Korrs will give you an air of insouciant sophistication. Possibly.

If it costs retailers 500 quid for a CCDB, they should probably buy it here: CCDB

We got kittens a few weeks back. I’m currently being woken up at 3 every morning by one of them biting either my nipple or my septum.

I got a half decent one, then in an emergency I bought a Babyliss one for a fiver from Asda that works way better.

Bought an Orange G2 without trying it and never got on with it. I’ve demoed everything since then and decided against a few that I was 99% sure I was going to buy.

The Remedy is a really good all day bike, it feels like a big XC bike with extra added get out of trouble free. The Enduro doesn’t climb just as well, but it’s still not bad and it feels a lot more planted and confidence inspiring downhill. The Alpine will climb sort of OK, but is the most fun I’ve had on a bike in pretty much every other situation. It’s terrifyingly quick downhill, which is kind of the point of a big like this, isn’t it?

didnt hectiks have some fancy shmancy roller set up that was prone to failure?

    I think that was Corsair.

Tested the Enduro, better than a Remedy, not as good as an Alpine 160.

In fairness, most folk don't ride a couple of DW link bikes, then take their own one out.
