Single – Ghostbusters by Ray Downey Jr

    Album – Bauhaus 1979-1983

Clearly, I lack a certain amount of continuity.

Getting the Pikes Pushed to suit your riding might be an option. A mate had his done and said it completely transformed their performance.

SX Trail, Commencal Supreme/Furious, Orange Patriot should all be within your budget.

I’ve got an 06 1.9 TDI. As has been mentioned, 50MPG is easily achievable on the motorway and it’s a nice enough cabin. However, I’ve spent £1500 getting various faults with the electronic handbrake fixed and if it does seize on you’ll need a tow truck as there’s no manual release.

I’ll get there before 6, so I wanted to know if I need to park at the gate or if I can still use the car park.

its only £20 a pop to change bearings in the hope when the inevitable happens.

So about the same as an XTR from Rose. I got 18 months out of my last XTR (although remarkably I got 2 years out of a RaceFace before that), just got another one from Rose.

Currently the Vivisector by Patrick Whyte, which is very good. I’ll then be moving on to Underworld by James Ellroy.

You could always ask her what she wants – that usually works for me. Failing that jewelery, perfume, a Kindle or an IPad depending on her taste/your budget.

I considered a lot of the same frames. I found the Soul bit steep and ended up with a Handjob. I usually ride a small, but I got a 17.5 hj, so it’s a decent length and still has plenty of standover
    . It’s cracking fun – I’d wholeheartedly recommend it.

    It doesn’t make any difference.

I’ve got an 06 Passat and I’ve had nothing but trouble with the electronic handbrake. It’s cost me £1500 in the last 6 months and if it seizes there’s no manual release. It’s also not that big. I’ve tried the Insignia and found it uninspiring to drive and the interior a bit cheap looking compared to VW and Saab. I’d be looking at the Mondeo or Accord estate.
That Hyundai looks quite nice, though.

    No.

Having swapped a full suss for a hardtail I find I’m not pushing myself nearly as much. Yes my Handjob is better for riding up and along, but for the bits I really enjoy I wish I had the skill/confidence compensation of rear suspension.

Unfortunately I can’t afford to go back to a big bike or I would currently be riding an Alpine 160.

The Scratch is pretty short, so isn’t particularly well suited to climbing. I tried a Scratch back to back with a (non-Evo) Enduro and preferred the Specialized across the board, despite finding it a bit Meh.

Assuming the cylinder wall thickness is around 2mm, i.e. the piston diameter will be 15mm, that would give you a force of close on 50N.

I was up there yesterday, and you can get all the way through to CV (I guess it counts as local acess).

I’ve seen finishes like that before, they’re usually down to not cleaning the parts properly prior to painting. It needs to be degreased and then ideally pre-treated with iron phosphate or E-Clps. There’s a risk that it will start to peel off, at which point you’ll need to get it re-done anyway so you might as well chance it and tell them you’re not happy and want it done properly.

Low Anthem, White Denim and Tom Vek on rotation. The new ones from Tune-Yards and Gang Gang Dance are pretty good, too.

I got a Bell one from Asda for £13. Works fine.

The cheese should reach the edge of the cracker, but no further as that would be untidy. Personally I feel that any more than 2mm thick is unreasonably decadent.

Lots of caffeine and ibruprofen based pain killers. It was on radio 4 so it must be good.

The Kingston used to do a nice lunch and a decent pint (it’s a few years since I lived there). Punting is a good call and the Fitzwilliam is mildly diverting.

I got a Bell something or other from Asda for £13.99. Thus far it has performed admirably.

You’re describing a Commencal 4X. I’ve got a mate with one and he uses it for pretty much everything, he even raced Innerleithen DH on it (and placed fairly respectably). 100mm travel at the back, up to 140mm at the front and pretty slack.

I’m 5’7″ and had a small Meta 5. It was far too short and I ended up trading it for a 17.5″ Cove Handjob. I also found it annoyingly flexy at the back, but the Super 4 has the old-style triangulated swing arm, so should be stiffer.

My family’s originally from Barra, so I’ve been a few times. As has already been said it’s stunning when the weather’s good, but don’t count on it, especially in October although you might get lucky. There are a few places to eat; Castlebay Hotel, Heathbank, Isle of Barra Hotel and Cafe Kismul (which does a cracking curry). I’d definitely take a car if you don’t want to get stuck in one place.

Funnily enough, I got a really hard time from 2 women at GT because they were standing in the middle of the trail on the blind side of a jump looking at a child who had completely recovered from having fallen off 5 minutes previously, but I had the damned cheek to be riding my mountain bike on the mountain bike trail, so I’m an unfeeling swine.

Pitch maybe? Long TT, slackish head angle, so it might fit the bill. Trek Fuel is worth a look if you don’t want quite so much travel.

Craig McMartin (Freeflow) in Shawlands are good. The new manager Stevie is very good and I’m sure he can sort you out if you give him a call.

I’ve got the leather version, haven’t found it at all hardwearing. Leather + lots of mud and rain aren’t a great combination unless you’re willing to give it a bit of TLC. It’s now held together with gaffa tape. I previously had the synthetic one and found it a lot more practical.

Cove Handjob? Slackish with 120mm forks, plenty standover (I’m 5’7″ and ride a 17.5″) and can build up pretty light.

In the city centre, I’d second Gandolfi. Also the Italian Cafe, Brutti Ma Buoni or Fratelli Sarti. In the west end it has to be Stravaigin.

Apparently, there are bare cables on the wiring loom that are shorting out and causing the problems, a fault so rare that VW are willing to pay for half the repair. Sounds a bit fishy to me, but I’ve got no way of proving it one way or the other.

I did ask for a courtesy car; none available. No wonder there’s an ‘I hate Arnold Clark’ page on Facebook. Think I might add my name to it.
