The Handjob has a 67 degree had angle with a 130 fork, so relatively slack for a hardtail.

the Global ones are pretty decent, but you could try Crocket’s at the top of West Nile St or any of the big department stores.

Cove Handjob from CRC. Massively underrated frame, slacker than a Slackline, same weight as a Soul and great fun with 120mm forks.

I really rate my Cove Handjob. Reassuringly slack with a (max) 130mm fork. It’s great fun and everyone who’s tried it has had a total blast. OK, not that cheap, but if you look about (and are a bit flexible on the must come from a shop thing) there’s the odd bargain to be had.

I know them well enough that I’m pretty sure the valve will have gone astray through ineptitude rather than dishonesty.

I’m learning stuff left, right and centre today. OK, Stanley knife and old tube it is.

Ah, I forgot to type the bit that was the whole point of this; it is a UST Rubber Queen. How do I seal the valve?

Used to run Lyriks on mine. They were moderately awesome.

Spesh Deviant helmet is really well vented and can be had off of EBay for not too much cash. 661 Evo pads are the comfiest ones I’ve used (and there have been a few). I can comfortably ride all day in them.

Another one for the Lezyne Micro Floor. It’s been faultless for 3 years now, and as a bonus it’s really shiney.

Dunhill do some particularly nice wallets. I asked for one for Christmas, got Prada instead. I feel a bit like John Terry whenever I get it out…

Antenna emissions are governed by ETSI specs in the UK. The distance from a mast to a building is most likely covered by local planning laws. Network providers don’t tend to turn off a link for maintenance as the value of the data going through it is too high.

Did the same thing to mine a couple of years ago. just carried on riding them with no ill effects.

I’m using a Hope 36T ring which works fine. Rings with ramps and pins to help shifting have a tendency to try to derail the chain when you shift at the back, as I found when I tried to run a Deore up front.

XTR mech and shifter, 11-36 XT cassette, 36T Hop ring, Superstar XCR chain guide and a Race Face Deus chainset. I’ve got a 10 speed XT SLX chain. It all works pretty OK now (the chain guide has worked pretty much flawlessly even with wheels off the ground), but it was a mare to get the chainline right when I first set it up.

At the risk of being bludgeoned to death the next time I see a someone on a Soul (judging by the almost fanatical love-in), I tried one, then bought a Handjob. I find it slacker, more forgiving and more fun than the Soul.
    Paint’s rubbish, though.

How’s the chainline look when you’re in the biggest sprocket at the back? I had a similar problem that was due to the chainline being crap. I had to space the front ring so far in that it’s only a couple of mm from the chainstay.

Carron Valley’s still shut (according to the FCS website). If they fancy a bit of a drive, Mabie might be an option.

You did well. Tonight I should have made pea and broad bean filo parcels with lentils and haloumi. We had a roll and fritter instead.

I’d take the Alpine 160 any day over it.

As would I were it not for budgetary constraints.

Gravity-slave, from your description it sounds like a small Mega is very short when seated and a medium would feel overly long when standing (at least for someone of my diminutive stature). It’s sufficiently different from pretty much everything else I’ve tried to make buying blind look like an excessively risky proposition.

Thanks for the offer, but I’m in Glasgow so a bit of a hike. I’d be after a frame only and I’d swap the bits from the Handjob. I also need to wait six weeks until after my birthday just in case. It does sound very much like a small Pitch would be my best bet. The small Mega looks to be extremely short in the top tube and the medium appears to sit between a small and medium Alpine, rather inconveniently.

Thanks Deanfbm, that rather neatly resolves my confusion over the Pitch. I’ve heard various accounts ranging from a small Pitch is similar to a medium anything else to a small is only good if you’re less than 5’3″. It sounds like small is the way to go. The Handjob was bought after I convinced myself that I would mostly be doing long, natural rides. I very rapidly became bored with this and now the saddle is shoved all the way forward and it is sporting a set of Lyriks. I suspect the seated length would be adequate if I ran the saddle further back than I do at the moment.
Looks like I’ll need to give the Mega sizing some further consideration, as my initial analysis may have been a bit simplistic.

I’m in the Glasgow one. No pool or car park, but other than that it’s one of the better gyms I’ve been to. It’s clean, modern and has plenty of kit.

Possibly not altogether in the spirit of what Cove had in mind, but I’ve got coil Lyriks set to 130mm. I put them on while I serviced my Floats and haven’t been inclined to remove them since. I drop them to 115mm for steep climbs, but for everything else they’re top.

The LastFM and Pitchfork apps for Spotify are good for finding new stuff.

Spotify doesn’t let you keep permanent copies, but if you’re paying a tenner a month you can download the phone app that lets you have offline copies that you can listen to for as long as you keekp paying. There’s also an option to buy (through another site), but I’ve never felt the need to use it. I use it in much the way you suggest, find something I like the sound of, look it up on Spotify and download it to my phone in offline mode to listen to in the car.
Lastfm is good for finding new music similar to the stuff you like. There’s now a Lastfm app within Spotify, so not a lot of point in having them both.

I had this on my Commencal Meta. I used a Cane Creek +5 headset which allowed the fork crown to clear the cable stops.

Best IPA I’ve had is still Caledoninan Breweries Deuchar’s IPA; their 80 Shilling is also excellent. Williams Brother Gold and Good Times are both very good as are Ossian and Arran Blonde and Sunset. Timothy Tailors Landlord is really nice or Oxford Gold for something a little lighter and easier to get hold of.
