Wouldn’t you be cheaper just buying another bike for when that one gets a bit dirty>

This track is due to have alot of money spent on it. It is going to be used in the Comonwealth games so I think you will see a bluck run appearing very soon.

I thought Cathkin Braes was being used for the Commonwealth Games, not Pollock Park.

If those b*s*a*ds have been lying to me again….

The QR Floats can be a bit flexy if pushed really hard, but they’re significantly lighter than the Pikes. Pikes are a lot stiffer, but are significantly heavier than the Floats. You pays your money…

Cheers ScottChegg, I thought that would be the case as it was when I changed the travel on Vanillas a while back. I was momentarily blinded by the fact that he’s a bike mechanic who knows what he’s talking about whereas I’m utterly clueless.

There today and it was thawing out pretty quickly, although there’s still quite a lot of snow at the Buzzard’s Nest. Electric Blue and everything below that is pretty clear – we did Electric Blue a few times and then the blue and red runs down to the bottom. Good fun.

I’m basing this on zero evidence, but since there are a few Hemlocks at the Bikeradar demo days, Cotic may be willing to ship one of those to your LBS for you to try.

I just got a Formula FX. I’ve only had one ride on it, but it does seem a bit comfier than the Bel Air it’s replacing.

I do mine at 30deg using a mild detergent with no softener or fragrance, then once in a while I use Grangers 2 in 1 stuff to keep the waterproofness um, waterproof.

What is the right amount of travel on a aggressive hard tail? 130mm

Best frame material for a hard tail? Steel/Unobtanium

    Preferred top tube length? 22.5″

    Preferred frame size? 16″

Preferred wheel size front and rear? 26/26

Slack ,steep, or somewhere in the middle. -(Head tube angle) Probably

How much would you pay for a highly specked aggressive hard tail? £1500 absolute max.

Singlespeed or geared? Don’t be silly, I’m not a ludite.

Hard tail or rigid ? See above

Big tyres 2.35+ or small tyres anything up to 2.35? 2.35

Thick tubes or small tubes for the frame? Appropriate tubes. If I can see the FEA, so much the better.

Low BB or high BB? Low

Craig McMartins in Shawlands can get Turner and Intense. I believe Turner are are expanding their dealer network big style this year.

“If you find a Five hard to climb on I think you need more time on a bike.”

Ah, I see. My apologies for implying that the 5 might not suit every single rider on the planet when it’s my fault for riding like a knob. Clearly the same was true of the G2 that I never got on with. Presumably the Commencal which climbs in an entirely acceptable way is some sort of aberration against god and nature.

Despite your obvious marketing genius Orange Steve, I’m cooling slightly on the idea of the Blood now. Can’t think why.

Funny, I thought the general consensus on this thread was that the Blood does indeed look, as you young folks put it, “cool”.

I’ve tried a couple of Oranges and haven’t been keen on the feel of them. Maybe I fall between sizes or the geometry just doesn’t suit me, but I’m always willing to give it another go.

Opt1cal – Brycey hasn’t snapped his has he? He’s broken most of the other bits off it, though.

How on earth did you manage to struggle when pedalling a 5 up hill? If so, won’t the Blood be equally difficult?

I demoed one and granted, it may have been because the shock wasn’t set up properly for me, but I found it wallowed about a bit and was a real effort on climbs. I ended up with a Meta 5 which climbs really well, so I was wondering whether the addition of the extra linkage would make the suspension a bit less liable to compress under pedalling and a bit less reliant on shock technology to overcome some of the inefficiencies in their original single pivot design.

And yes, it does look a bit pricey.

I’ve had both and found the customer service from Sky to be a bit average, but miles better than Virgin. Virgin appeared to be actively trying to lose my business, then when I did switch they offered me more channels for the same money which rather begged the question why had I been paying over the odds all that time. And don’t even get me started on the whole trying to return the box debacle. Whichever way you go, you’ll never watch 95% of the channnels anyway.

Look at the qualities they’re after for the job you want, then work out what you’ve been doing in your current job and your passtimes/hobbies that makes you a good fit. I managed to turn an unhealthy obsessions with LED bike lights into a positive talking point in an interview.

Um, I know it’s a bit off topic, but does anyone have a Duster? Any good? Thinking of it as a (slightly) cheaper Soul alternative, but struggling to get a ride on one.

I’ve found the Meta handles really well, climbs well enough and is a total gas downhill. The 666 is a bit slacker and burlier and should take more punishment. Last years Metas were a bit flexy at the back, but I beleive they’ve been stiffened up for 2009. The adjustable head angle on the 666 might let you get away with using the Pikes until you can trade them in for something a bit bigger.

Does, doesn’t it. The small print says I have to cancel by the 17th of the month prior to the anniversary of joining. When I suggested I would just cancel the direct debit, they suggested that they would pass it straight to a debt recovery agency, my credit rating would be devastated, my wife would leave me, I’d lose the house and end up living on the streets drinking Buckfast and eating domestic pets.

    Or words to that effect.

FWIW the Met Office reckon it’ll be pretty cold tomorrow night. Hora, I was there that weekend and ended up chucking my bike in a bush and refusing to play any more, hence the question.

The single ply 60A High Rollers aren’t too heavy and work fine for me in most conditions.
