If there’s a bit of GT that I’d like to see get a bit of TLC it’s probably Spooky Wood. It can’t be easy to maintain a bit of trail that sees that much traffic, but a lot of the jumps are pretty eroded and don’t have much lip left on them. Maybe using rock for the take off as they’ve done on Good Game would be an option. Some of the features that have been mentioned as missing in action could maybe have been left and chicken runs put in as, depending on your point of view they had bedded in quite nicely. One of the good things about Glentress is that it’s fast and flowing, but a wee bit of variety is nice too.

Granted the red isn’t too steep. I took it down the Bitch and a couple of other bits of the black and it was no end of fun.

Woah – that pinching your neck thing actually works!

    Jedi, I’m suitably impressed.

I’m 6’8″ and a small fits me fine.

    Ooh, beer!

Trek and LaPierre are both at the Bikeradar demo days. Well, they’re definitely at the Glentress one in a couple of weeks so I assume they’re at the others.

Jimmy, I met up with you at the top of Cadden Bank. I was with Rock3Gozy.

I met Smee at the New Year ride at Inners. He was perfectly pleasant.

I got the 2008s as standard on my Meta 5. They’re OK, fairly plush, but a bit flexy if pushed hard. Quite easy to service yourself if you’re that way inclined. I swapped them for Lyriks and although they’re nearly a kilo heavier I’m a lot happier with them.

Still debating whether it’ll be Ben Lomond, Ae, Glentress or Dalbeattie.

    Possibly too many choices…

Craig Hill’s a screamingly camp stand up who, it turns out, isn’t desperately funny.

On the up side, in bed watching the Matrix, drinking wine and plotting Sunday’s ride.

Not long back from seeing Craig Hill live. If you get the chance, I probably wouldn’t bother.

Why would I bother when I can just drive 60 miles to a trail centre. This is the 21st century, maps are soooo 20th century.

Ton, based in Glasgow, met you on the STW New Year trip to Inners (I was the one in the comedy pads and full face).

Yossarian, the Sovereign is dropping in price to £550, but it will be Reynolds 520 instead of 853 if my sources are correct.

Make me do half my own repairs using their kit.
    Never charge for labour.
Witter on constantly so that if I go in for a washer, I’m still there 2 hours later.
    Go riding with me.
    Give me cake.

It might make more sense to have a custom seatpost clamp made up. If you can get a friendly engineer to draw it up for you, it would probably cost around £150 to get it machined up.

Incidentally, I’m an engineer and I will work for beer.

Uncle John and Whitelock. I know nothing about them, other than they sound awesome and their cover Robert Palmer’s addicted to love is genius.

Ton, if you want some vaguely edible veggie recipes let me know. That sounds vile.

I tried to buy new ones for a Canon recently. I was £5 cheaper buying a new printer (same model), which came with cartridges.

Man, I looked on Skiffy and didn’t see it, then looked again and there they are; saddle washers.

Nope, not a bike part, it’s a washer for an M10 bolt and I need 200,000 of them.

I could buy a PA for less than it would cost me to get to Surrey, but I thank you for pointing it out nonetheless. Now If Dialled could just send a small demo PA to my LBS…

In as much as they both (allegedly) go up pretty well and descend better, are both steel, will both take a 100-130 fork, I don’t reckon it’s a bad comparison. I’m leaning towards the Soul as I have a Meta 5 for the times where my skill level isn’t up to it, but I’ve always been strangely intrigued by the PA.

I’ve been veggie for 19 years, but having met Ton – just have a nice lamb chop and you’ll be fine in the morning.

No, they’ll charge you a fortune for being desperate.

Sounds fine. The bearing seals stop it from rotating too freely, but it’ll be fine once you’re riding it.

Drumlanrig was in pretty good shape on Sunday.

Smooth it down and ride it. If you start seeing oil leaking from around the seal then you need a new stantion and seal kit, if you don’t it should be fine.

A mate just got a Commencal Meta 4X. Plenty strong, builds up pretty light and a total gas to ride.
