If you walk up Finnieston Street to Argyle St, there's the Ben Nevis, Gazelle, and Firebird all of which are pretty decent.

They're perfectly nice, but not as nice as POC ones.

Just got a Handjob a few weeks back and transferred all the bits off my Meta 5. Thus far it has proven to be quicker and more capable in almost every situation. This may or may not be related to it actually fitting me rather than being aimed at a 4 year old, which the size of Commencal my LBS recommended to me was.

    PS: Other useful questions…

"Given that the description of the figure of Mary as a "virgin" is the result of a mistranslation of the Hebrew word "Young Woman", how much else of the text is as unreliable?"
Doesn't prove that she wasn't a virgin, or that any of the rest of the text is false

"How did the "Devil" show "Jesus" all the kingdoms of the earth from a "High place" on a spherical planet?"
You assume that an omniscient being sees the world the same way that you do. It's entirely possible that 'a high place' refers to a state of higher understanding rather than geography.

"What is the process whereby a ghost can impregnate a virgin and give birth to itself?"
It flows up her chuff, waits 9 months then pops back out again

"Why is there no mention of any of the New Testament stories in any text of the time from any part of the Roman Empire or Jewish Nation, but only in writings from at least 70 years after the supposed events took place?"
It suited the prevailing powers at the time to suppress the evidence. That would never happen now, would it?

"Why do the four books of the New Testament contradict each other about the same events?"
Ask four different people about the same thing and you'll get 4 different stories. It would be much more suspicious if they all agreed perfectly.

    And so on…

Incidentally, I'm an atheist. I'm just a stickler for a well constructed argument.

There's someone on the closing credits for one of the CSIs called Boti Bliss.

I've just got a Handjob and it's ace. Took it to Innerleithen yesterday and it climbed better than my Meta 5 (predictably enough), but it was quicker down the other side too. Some of that's probably to do with it being the right size, but it's really easy to pop off stuff and feels way more controlled than you'd expect when the going gets rough. Expensive though.

I measured mine as 29.8, but a 30 should work fine too.

I tried one at Glentress for an hour. Really nice bike and as quick as folk have said. It had Talas 36s on it, but to be honest it climbed fine with them at 160, so you're probably as well with floats. At the time I didn't really get the point of a 7" travel XC bike, but the more I think about it the more I reckon that I should stop trying to pigeonhole it and accept that it's just a cracking bike. It does come up pretty big, though. And it's really, really expensive.

The forks are Float 140s. I'm waiting for a spacer to reduce them a bit. Probably.

I want it mainly for playing music, surfing t'internet and a useable camera would be a bonus. I may even make an occasional phone call on it. It looks like the Hero is the way to go.

Craig McMartin bikes in Glasgow have a medium on demo. That probably doesn't help you much, though.

I did say it's subjective. I'm used to a meta5 with a cane creek + 5 headset and Lyriks, so the Soul was bound to feel a bit steep. I've purchased a Handjob instead. OhMiGod! Different people like diferrent bike and you should try them first shocker!

I never used to believe stuartlangwilson on this one, but having had a bit of a play on one recently he's right: reeeeeally steep and a bit scary. All subjective I suppose.

Ran a 2.35 60A on the back with a High Roller on the front. They're OK, but not fantastically confidence inspiring when pushed hard. I swapped it for an Ardent and found that just as fast rolling and a bit grippier in corners.

I had almost exactly the same thing about 4 or 5 years back. Initially got a low offer, the solicitor that my insurance hired under my legal cover (which didn't affect my no claims) recommended I didn't accept it and I ended up with around £2500. It was painful for around a year and took a bit longer than that to sort out.

    GAAAAAAAH!!!!!

DAMN them and their SKINNY jeaned, FloPPy fringed, poncing twatINESS. They keep trying to do weeeeelies outside my flat and then falling on their arses (OK, I admit there is a degree of entertainment value there). Then they act holier thanTHOU!!!!!! when you turn left at a set of lights while they were busy underTAKING and ignoring the highway code.

Also they're all slightly condescending to pensioners, rude to badgers and they buy really cheap pedals.

I feel that was a far superior effort.

Gammy leg, no balance to speak of (due to previously mentioned gamminess), bruised ribs, fat, bald, beligerant, curmudgeonly.

Apart from that I'm a biking machine.

My cat did something similar a few years back, turns out he's diabetic and he'd gone hypo (or hyper, I can never remember which is which).

I'd really like a small Trek Remedy frame, but they don't come as frame only. It's the great regret of my life….

You are all cxorrect, desperately unattractive bikes. When almost everything rides well these days, why would you?

If you mean the XT on Merlin, a bloke I work with bought one and immediately sent it back because the outer chainring was so massive his bike looked like it had 3 wheels.

I was, then I read Brant's description of it and bought a Handjob instead.

A Trek Remedy would be worth a look. Pedals uphill quite happily and it's a total hoot downhill.

If you bought an Alfa Romeo Brera instead, you could fit 2 bikes in the back and people wouldn't hate you as much. And it's prettier.

Mine are great. They can lock the wheel out almost instantly from any speed and the modulation is fantastic. I prefer them to Mono Minis, and this year's XTs (although there's not much in it) – I haven't really tried much else.. I'm running Superstar sintered pads, which seem better than the standard Formula ones and have lasted really well so far. I've found that playing with the bite point adjuster can make quite a difference.
