Under no circumstances get an LG Renoir. I spend most of my time smashing it against stuff in frustration. It's thus far proving to be irritatingly robust.

I know it's not on your list, but better to be safe than sorry.

My wife has the Tocco Lite (the phone for people who can't spell light). S'aright.

Mixed salads often have it. You could pick out the Lamb's leaf and use the rest for something else.

    Or just use iceberg.

I keep reading stuff about it, but I've still not managed to work out what it's for. Maybe I've just reached the age where new technology ceases to make sense any more.

They built my wheels (719s on Pro IIs) and they've been trouble free for the last year or so.

Giraffe. It's the cigarette holders that do it.

I've had mine for a couple of years, only just replaced the first BB on it and I've been pretty happy with them.

I agree with James about Ae. It used to be one of my favourite trails, but as they've tried to repair the damage after logging, bits which used to be fun are now a bit of a slog. The newer bits which cut out a lot of the fire road still haven't bedded in very well and I don't find them a lot of fun. It undoubtedly has good bits, just not enough to compensate for the rest IMHO. However, I fully appreciate that many people quite like Ae. Far be it from me to suggest that this indicates a deficit in either taste or judgement.
Just go to Kiroughtree, everyone like it there.

I've got a Cane Creek S3+5mm, although it's more to stop the cable stops on my Meta 5 from twatting the fork crown.

Dalbeattie's good fun with some nice optional techie bits. Ae is hour after hour of grinding misery. Depends what you're after, i suppose.

I've got a 180 one on the front and it works perfectly acceptably.

Do the skills course with your regular bike unless it's unsuitable (see above), decide if it's for you, then ask advice and then get a stupidly big bike that will both flatter the skills you've just picked up and compensate for the ones you don't yet have.

Glasgow city centre, £50 venue hire, £11 per head for food, tenner a bottle for half decent wine and we got to bring our own fizz with no corkage.

If you can find out who a consultancy has decided you're not suitable for, it's worth applying directly. I've had a couple of interviews and a long term job this way, because the consultants hadn't understood what it was that the employer wanted.

Gah – I googled it and didn't get either of those. Thanks chaps.

I estimated when you were lying spreadeagled after you pringled your wheel at Cathkin.

You are not! 5'11 at the absolute max.

S'alright this end, although no-one rides their bikes anymore. Put on an adjustable fork (ie Lyrik) and the Blood's a gas. Was also thinking of the Alpine 160 as a replacement for the Meta, but can't get a shot on one round here.

I've stripped the Meta and put the bits on a Handjob, which is a whole world of fun and a lot more useful round Cathkin/Mugdock/GT.

How's it working out down south for you?

Y'right Brycey? They've got a demo one at GT, although that's maybe a bit of a hike for you these days, and it's a small. I'm trying to convince Neil that he should take them on now that behind Bars don't do them any more, so there's an outside chance there. I've demoed the one at GT, and it's a cracking bike. Climbs better than the Meta 5 and descends way better than I can. Obviously that's not saying much, but I reckon you'd get on better with it than the 5 given how you ride.

Leek and shallot tart, roast spuds, roast tomatoes and a really quite decent Italian tempranillo.

They sound like a cross between White Stripes and the Kills (which is what they are), but not as good as either.

    BFe/Dialled Alpine/NS Surge/Stiffee/Chameleon/456/Bluepig/MMBop/Tran sition TransAM.

Take your pick, like as not they'll all be fine.

And the Sovereigns down to 500 odd quid now.

I've got a 2008 Meta 5 and it is noticeably flexy, to the extent that the guy riding behind me thought it was broken.

Yup, Terre a Terre. Bit spendy, but fantastic food.

If there the same as X0, then I just replaced mine with KCNC which seem to work faultlessly and come in a variety of colours.

Not overly blown away by Dead Weather. Just sounds like the Kills, which isn't that surprising as it's the same singer.

I've tried the Blood and really liked it. Climbs a lot better than it I thought it would, too. I'll see if I can get a shot on an Alpine although I don't know anyone round these parts who has one as a demo. I'll see if I can get a blast on an Enduro and a Rune too.

Hmm, I wasn't very specific there, was I? I want 6" because I have coil Lyriks to put on it although I'd be perfectly happy with less travel at the back, I want it for the odd uplift and for general trail riding where my Handjob is left a little wanting. The Meta 5 is a bit flexy and a bit short and doesn't climb particularly well so maybe the Enduro is worth having a look at if I can get a shot on one.

Aren't they meant to be a trifle flexy at at the back end? Wasn't terribly blown away by the Tracer.

Meta 6? Ridden and dismissed as lacking.

Although Gear can get Orange, they don't tend to have them in stock. You're more likely to get a demo from Behind Bars and Chris knows his stuff. He also used to ride a 5 so he should be able to see you right.

I'm going with my wife, so I always have excellent company (she probably won't read this, but you never know).

    And yes, yes it is.
