I expect PwC will give you a laptop and a bag to carry it in so no need to worry about buying one

I got one when we started the family, great for keeping some fitness up when you get a few.minutes spare but need to be on hand.

Child seats and trailers are great when they get a bit older but only useful when the little one is awake and not in the evenings.

I just picked up one on offer at Decathlon, your after quiet so I can’t recommend the model I have. Think fluid ones are quieter but best finding out from someone who has used one.

    Congratulations by the way.

Got a roadrat that has sat unused since I changed jobs last year and had to start commuting by car instead of bike. Probably time to move it on.

Never had a BMX as a kid so perhaps I’ll replace it with one.

I’ve got a flat barred RE for sale. Full xt group set including discs, full mudguards. Great for commuting and the xt works well if you take it off-road. Can’t recall the size but I’m 6ft.

Let me know if you are interested and I can sort some pictures.

Thanks everyone car is now back on the road. Had to get a recovery 4×4 to do it in the end and he only just managed it. The front end looks a mess, looks like I’m sucking up some insurance pain for a while to come once the claim goes in.

Definitely a life lesson learnt! Main thing no one was hurt.

    Cheers

Garth it might, if I can get it moving I may be able to get some traction. I’ve got some old carpet to get under the wheels. Don’t suppose you have a towing rope, I’ve got one but it won’t be long enough to reach the road.

Thanks for the advice and words of support. I’m hoping not have to use insurance, high excess and impact on renewal cost means it will have to be a chunk repair bill before I call them in.

Still looking for a friendly 4×4 driver

    cheers

A normal car with some grunt might do it with a long rope. it is a few metres away from the road so a 4×4 would be best. Car is a mondeo estate so not the lightest.

    Any help would be fantastic.

    Thanks

Hewitt and May – had a few from them, pretty good quality and they do a slim fit option. Often have 3 for £90 or 4 for £100 offers on.

You can always plug in a USB hard drive or stream to it if the internal disc gets full. You can get a 320gb HD in the new ones so plenty of space

Zangolin, I'd be interested to hear how you get on with a conversion. I have a solstice HID and I think the bulb is starting to dim so may try an LED conversion too. Hopefully I can retain the battery as the HID would last over 5 hours so I should get great run time from an LED set up from it 8)

Oh and I mean bridleway obviously (I blame Swisstony, he did it wrong first)

Pook, it is the bridalway that drops from the A625 straight down the hill into Blacka Woods. If your coming up from town it is the first left into the woods from the road.

Ayatollah thanks for the offer your guided tours seem to come highly recommended but unfortunately I think my window of opportunity away from the extended family will be Saturday/Sunday. I'll just follow my nose and see where it leads me.

    Thread revival alert ❗

I have the same request as the OP, I'm heading down to the FOD over the BH weekend and it would be great to have a route from local knowledge so if anyone has something on their GPS they can share I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks

Congratulations. I've always fancied doing something like the Transwales and you make it sound like something a non-racer can take on and sort of enjoy 😀

MrNutt I'll say thank you as the second idea you gave might just work. I'll try the chopped up crud catcher first though 😀

Cheers for the reply. I think I'll just drop the wheel out and measure up the crud catcher as best I can and get cutting. I'll post back here the results.

I clean it every couple of rides and don't tend to givet he chain any special treatment. Just rinse of the muck quick wipe with a rag let it dry then apply lube

I use a co2 cannister to get mine inflated first time. I have heard you can use a strap round the tyre to reduce the volume so that the bead takes and then gradually release the strap as it inflates. Good luck

Good call – looks good, shame the one that fits the bill best doesnt seem to be in the UK store. I'll check to see if they can order in from the US.

I nudged a wing mirror this morning whilst filtering past stationary traffic at some lights. I stopped and said "sorry" and the lady in the car replied "don't worry no harm done". Then we both continued our journeys.

I bet she shook her head once I was out of sight.

I had eratic speed for a few months earlier in the year. Spent ages checking everyting my end. Once I knew it was them I phoned every night to complain for a week, got a big credit on my next bill and whatever the problem was it got sorted pretty soon. Annoying to deal with but when it is working it is a good solid connection

Try Motogrip trainer – get them from CRC. Basically a palm sized rubber ring that trains the forearm. Good toy for the desk too
