I need to sort some cover out too so would be interested to hear some more views. Had a quick look through MSE the other night and went onto a few of the online brokers for quotes. They claim to be cheaper as they take minimal commission as you’re not paying for the advice. Depends how confident you feel in picking your own products rather than getting an expert to assist.

Let us know how you go.

What Frogstomp said. I got a bluetooth reader off ebay for about £20 and if you have a smart phone get an app (think it is called torque). The app picks up the code from the reader and then links through to a web page detailing the diagnosis. Saved me a load of money sorting an EGR valve issue I had that kept setting off the engine warning light.

Thanks for the suggestions, will check out Osmington and Wollacombe. Whats the drive to the north coast like, was thinking south coast as it looks easier to access from the M5?

I got a 24″ cruiser earlier this year, first few rides we just down the park with the kids. Last weekend I finally made it to the bmx track. Absolutely loved it, really felt my pumping improve and started to feel a bit of flow. Need to get back down soon to try and get the wheels in the air properly.

The only down side was the seized up back which hit me a few hours after I got home. Still recovering a week later.

Fairhurst, assuming you’re not just trolling, you should check out some the race reports on last years event. You would see that Chris Akrigg had a big crash and had to retire due to concussion. The course may require a bit more pedal but to get the bottom fast still takes a lot of skill.

Anyway I like it, allows average riders to compare themselves to the elite and realise how slow they are even on a “flat cyclocross course”.

Went last year but don’t think i can make it to watch this time around. Was good fun spectating at the finish line especially with the big drop in for the riders to deal with. Still wince when I remember the bloke who landed on his top tube 😕

I’ve done it a few times and it works well. Just stretch the tube round the rim, then slit it open, mount your tyre adding sealant at the end. Inflate and use some soapy water to find any air leaks, get the wheel on its side and shake the sealant round to seal it all up.

mind you I did have one attempt blow off the rim, that made me jump, the other half thought I’d been shot. Lesson learnt was to go easy on the co2 when inflating.

while we are on the topic and there are some knowledgeable people about….I want to set up a nas for home use linking desktop, laptop, ps3 and smartphones. I already have a couple of external usb drives I use for storage and back from the desktop up that I would like to make permanently available and able to run as a media server.

is there a cost effective way of doing this either through a stand alone box or a cheap nas with usb expansion ports? not got much to spend on this so can’t really afford to buy new storage and would like to use what I’ve got.

I’m okay plugging things in and playing around a bit but have no experience of networks so am looking for as close to plug and play as I can get.

    cheers Rio

Honourablegeorge, do you definitely get the bleed kit and collar at bike discount.de? The listing at that price shows a silver collar version and states no bleed kit, although it does say 2012 manufacture. I’m confused can you clarify any of that.

    cheers

I’ve got a load of this in the loft. The best addition is the booster, a special bit of start line where the controllers plug in, that gives your car a turbo boost once a lap. great for overtaking. Formula 1 has only just caught up with it drs.

I’ve got the alpkit one, it is definately not a bike piece of clothing. I get hot in it just walking about, no need for that level of insulation whilst riding.

The advice above to get a windstopper low bulk one for the bike is right IMO. The Filet is great post ride though.

Same views here, had it for a few years and much prefer it to previous camelbaks. I think a few other bags have moved on a bit since I got it and like clothing it is best to try before you buy if possible. Saying that I doubt you would regret switching to a wingnut.

+1 for the trunki booster. We used them after seeing the charges a car hire company had for renting a seat for a week. For the same price we got 1 each for the kids (youngest 2) – they were on offer at Halfords and gotthem for about £32 each. Whilst not as good as a proper car seat for us it was a good solution.

We now use them for visits to family when we travel by train and get picked up the other end and will use them for other fly drive/coach transfers in future. Should last until the kids have grown out of the need for booster seats.

I got a couple of sufferfest vids a few years ago, I’m sure they were free to download back then. Anyway they are great “Heaven knows I’m miserable now” can be vomit inducing if i really go hard at it.

Anyone got a pair of mediums they want to swap for my smalls? My waist is just a bit too big for these.

Or anyone who wants a pair of the small let me know otherwise they are going back to Play for a refund.

yes, been on holiday there a couple of times and had a days riding each time with a shop/hire/guiding place. think it is called freemotion. met some Irish guys who were there for a weeks riding and the guides had shown them plenty they were raving about.

    Be
en to Morgan a couple of times and had some good guided rides with a place back up the coast at playa del ingles. They even did pick up from Morgan. You get driven up into the mountains and you end the day on the beach with a beer. last time I went the hire bikes were cannondale.
