Coming back to the original question it can put people off a house.

When the house next door to a friend of mine went up for sale he hung a flag out the window and filled his front yard with empty beer cans. His best mate ended up buying the house, apparently there had been very little interest after first viewings.

Thanks everyone sounds like it will be a good option for the next year or so until he has the stamina and skills to be towed along. Good tip on protecting the kids bike with an old TYRE :-).

Mr Hoppy, I need to pick one up today for a ride tomorrow so unless you’re in Sheffield, I’ll have to head to JeJames to pick one up.

A other yoga recommendation. Mine flares up every now and again, yoga always sorts it out. Should really do the yoga as preventative measure but always seem to slack off it.

Interested in this thread as we are also thinking if going next December. Those who had great experiences can you share who the tour operator was? Seems a real mix between great and just okay, for the expense involved I want to make the right choices.

I’ve tried Flavourly and Beer52. Both on intro offers and using credit from mates signing up. Quality has been pretty good with the odd duffer in a box.

Should add the PPF only steps in when the employer goes bust and can no longer make the necessary payments to the DB pension fund.

I think you are right that it only guarantees 90% of the benefits accrued.

You are also right the most DB schemes are in significant deficit – Brexit hasn’t helped that position.

To my knowledge the PPF only covers defined benefit schemes. The employers contributing to these schemes pay a levy each year which builds up the fund – it is a kind of joint insurance scheme.

If you invest in a DC or money purchase scheme your investment is held by a fund manager and your pot builds up like any other investment – ie S&S isa.

Not sure if this thread makes me feel better or worse about my lack of MTB riding. Haven’t ridden regularly since third child came along over 3 years ago.

I lack time, motivation and energy. Last time I got a few hours spare and set iff after 5 minutes on the first down hill I discovered my brake calipers had siezed. £100 and a few hours later the bike us fixed but I’ve not been back out on it.

I need something to get my mojo going again!

No need to feel guilty. I’ve spent my life trying to mimic Antoine’s facial expressions. A true legend!

If you are down at Kelham Island – Milestone is nice for a spot of dinner, Depot bakery does great donuts.

Got one to revive my tivoli model one radio. Think I’ll get a few more for multiroom.

Has anyone tried one with a wireless speaker with battery and usb power output as a portable option?

We are 3 years into this, and only look enviously at friends with one or two children occasionally. Yes it costs more, everything family wise seems to be planned around 2+2, holidays, days out, cars etc.

On the plus side we don’t seem to be experincing middle child syndrome (yet). It may be because both me and the other half are middle children and both with the other 2 siblings of the opposite sex. The bickering and arguing do get on your nerves but the kids seem to put up with us just fine 😆

We even chatted the other day about having one more, but that option is cut off to us (literally).

Do it, whats the worst that can happen?

Toyota verso works well bit like the Touran ie dull but practical. The 2 pop up seats in the boot are really useful for occasionally taking kids friends along

Razor is a Muhle Vivo closed comb. Just getting used to it now so planning to resist the urge to start looking at vintage Gillettes for a while 🙂

I’ve been following this thread with interest after getting a DE razor for my birthday back in December. Since then I’ve had a bit of a love/hate relationship with it. I love the lathering up of the soap and brushing routine. But I’ve struggled getting a good shave without lots of cuts and razor burn. So much so that I went back to Mach 3’s for a while. I’ve tried Muhle and Derby blades that came with the razor and was not impressed with either. Then, perhaps foolishly went on to a Feather after recommendations on here. First shave with them – that was blood bath!

So after a few weeks off i thought I would try again yesterday. Hot shower, some cheap shave oil from Home Bargains, then the soap. First time I had soaked the brush and the lather I got was so much better than before. This time I started on my neck as this is where the problem usually is. It was a shaving epiphany. Everything just worked, no cuts, no burn, smooth finish 😀

I’m now a convert and to celebrate have ordered some more pre, during and post shave products recommended from all the chat here.

One recommendation from me is Arko shave soap. Looks cheap, is cheap but works great. I just squashed a stick of it into a old hair gel tub.

I can still remember the look on the surgeons face as he stood over me holding the anesthetic syringe -“you might feel a small prick” I said to him. Anyway he wasn’t laughing when I goose stepped into his face as he rummaged around in side a bit too vigourously.

They don’t seem to use stiches these days,I was just to told to “pinch it together”. We’ll that didn’t work, my other half found it hilarious when I asked where she kept her panty pads :-). It only wept for a couple of days and no pain to speak of. Root canal filing was far worse.
