Yes, when I was a kid it was full of military jets zotting around at low-level. I miss that.

Does the £3.6 billion match a soon to be lost source of funding for regions?

(Well, obviously not as it will never be real but just supposing)

On a seafood trip tonight, scallop and chorizo kebabs, grilled squid and Serrano ham wrapped monkfish, washed down with Jim Beam and L&P. I wonder what the poor people are doing!

He’s got a pretty impossible job – keeping the party together while not completely shafting the economy over brexit and somehow gaining enough support to get a majority at the next GE.

Which he created and which would have been completely avoidable. That is the frustrating thing about all this, it is an entirely manufactured crisis.

This article gives some insight into how it might have come about.

You don’t need to use cobblestones with the Cobb. Aussie Heatbeads are good, but a mini chimney starter from a cutlery drainer Like this Ikea one with a cheap, wood-handled barbecue spatula bolted on makes lighting them much easier. 8-10 beads cooks a meal. £6-8 a bag at The Range.

No you really didn’t. The statement would be true, that you, and the population at large read something it doesn’t say makes you wrong, not the writing on the bus.

It’s written to deliberately imply one thing whilst actually saying another, granted, but as with so many things, what’s not said [gross for instance?] is more important than what is.

So technically true, but utterly misleading?

I work for a telesales company, and if one of our staff said that on a call it would be classed as a critical fail and would require us to contact the customer to correct the misleading statement.

A £0.01 switch from the EU bill to NHS funding would make what has been said perfectly true technically true, although utterly misleading.

At an airshow, a young child hesitantly approached the naval aviator, stood in front of his jet. Overcome with awe he says “Sir, when I grow up I want to be a fighter pilot”
The pilot replies “well son, you need to make a decision right now. You can grow up, or be a fighter pilot, but you can’t do both”.

Many and varied but keep coming back to wine gums. Sourcing can be problematic and changing suppliers have led to the relegation of previous faves M&S , lack of white ones rules out Maynard, fortunately Home Bargains are currently doing excellent wine gums for £1.99 a kilo. My stash at the moment is heavier than me, but that may change soon.

I’ve seen British military aircraft of World War Two on as specialist subject twice, and both times I’ve got more right than the contestant, but I’d choose post-war British military aircraft. Or the novels of Iain M Banktto give me an excuse to read them again.

In real life those air intakes look like someone bashed them out with a hammer!

In real life someone probably did! The V-bombers were all hand built with minor (and sometimes quite major) differences between each airframe.

At risk of being accused of something, is that per capita or just total number of deaths? Because it actually makes a big difference

The figure is total deaths for both countries, the US death rate is just under double the U.K. rate. I looked it up for the same reason, as 1500 deaths actually implied a much lower death rate in the USA.

Western politics being influenced by agents ultimately acting for the benefit of the Russian state and its clients? That all seems a bit far fetched and with no relevance to events today🙄

    Sandwich

Kimbers, double isn’t even close. Have a look here for the first 6 Months of 2018.

Roughly 1500 deaths per year (source)

The U.K. has approximately 500 deaths each year from food poisoning Source – warning Daily Mail link, but looking at the source linked by Sandwich, the US actually has around 5000 deaths each year, the 1500 is only those from known pathogens.

China in the 15th Century, when they banned ocean going boats.

Wait a minute Oldnpastit, you’re saying that an economically prosperous nation turned its back on overseas trade opportunities due to a fear of foreign influences affecting what they saw as “their culture”? The result of this being that, unable to influence foreign powers on an equal basis, they ended up getting screwed over?

That’s an interesting intellectual point but whet relevance does it have to current events?
