I work for a business selling fuel. Last results we made £11 million profit, but turned over just shy of £900 million. But of that £900 million over £600 million is also tax from fuel duty. So for that reason, I’m out. Stricter accounting rules would make more sense.

The school in question used to make up part of the intake at my secondary school. I am not at all surprised.

This year I got one of those tins with “Man Stuff” written on the outside. But my mum thoughtfully filed it with the contents of her junk drawer… staples, fuses in an old 35mm film case, elastic bands and an ikea Allen key.

The obvious thing to do would be to throw out the contents, and put your stuff in it, but we all know you’ll then have the nagging worry that you might need an old 35mm film case one day. Best get yourself another one.

A bit more about the bike and the engine. The power output of the engine is about 10 kw. But that power pushes against the air and isn’t linked to the wheels, and this makes the acceleration different. The thrust from this engine doesn’t push you back into your seat and if it did the engine would be much larger and your top speed would be a couple hundred miles an hour.

What if you tried it out on a conveyor belt that goes backwards at the same speed the wheel go forwards?

But, but, I can lock either wheel with cantis*, why would I need discs?**

*certain terms, weather conditions, pad wear, cable wear, cable stretch and brake set up may apply.
** any resemblance to arguments concerning road bikes is purely coincidental.

Should people working for charity be badly paid?

I think the issue is wheter the workers for the charity should be paid, be it operational, support staff or management. They have a job and should be paid the going rate. It is whether high profile trustees, who are already in very well paid jobs, should be paid for work they do overseeing a charity. An analogy is a school and school governors. The staff get paid, the governors are not and should not be paid, I believe someone called it big society.

    Going to one bike. Why?

I know people have the thing about do it all bikes and emptying the garage but honestly, why? I’m not needing the money from selling surplus bikes to eat, it would only end up buying useless consumer items like shoes for the so I’m happy to live with a few bikes optimised for different things. Why this urge to just have one? I have several sets of clothes too.

( currently two bikes, looking at a third)

The flight engineer is mainly their to manage the engines, if revs and prop speed aren’t synchronised the aircraft flies inefficiently and you can get severe vibrations. Flight engineers went the way of navigators when automatic systems became smart and reliable enough.

Buzz Bar on the beach is one of my favourite bars in the entire world, great drinks, food, music, mood and views. Paragliding is a big thing there, look at doing a flight off Babadag and watch out for flyers landing on the beach. Very relaxed place overall but I’ve only been in October for the air games.

Got a two year old Vango Airbeam. 20 minutes from unzipping the bag to fully up with sleeping pods and carpet in place the 2nd time we used it. Had it in galeforce winds last summer and although the beams deflect they spring back into shape, and the Vango has reinforcing straps on the beams too. The down side is the size of the bag when the tent is down but we love it.
