Same advice here too, the World Cup course is just passed Dixons Hollow jump park, off the side of the field opposite. Gee is right about the wet, you can do a set of pads in a wet lap of the red! still fun tho 😆

I too was ‘taken out’ out on 5th Jan, white van man didn’t see me, stopped at jucntion then pulled out with just enough time for me to do a rolling stoppie into the drivers door, fortunately i joined Brtish Cycling purely so i was covered by their lawyers whilst commuting, I must say they have been spot on. Bike wasn’t too bad as I overtook it so 300 quid damage to a £2500 bike and £300 quids worth of cloting trashed. What you can’t put a price on in my mind is the fact I have missed out on playing with my kids and changing nappies/bathing them etc as well as 3 months of training and longer term problems which could mean this year is a write off as far as competing goes. Defo keep a diary, i did and when i went for the medical this monday i could clearly pass on my problems.
Although i suffered no broken bones both knees took a twatting along with head/neck aches, dead arms etc. I thought I was getting over it and getting back into training when my right knee flared up last Monday, another week off sick and a week of desk duties (I’m a chef)and loads of greif from work!! My knee is still like a tennis ball so with next week off the bike as well I’m gonna miss more North East and National events meaning I won’t score at enough events to qualify for league points and any chance of getting the title i won in 2009 is well and truely gone…..What is a fair ammount of compo for that??

    Rant over.

(I too was happy to not be badly injured at the time but as the injuries go on I want to hurt that man more!!!)

    Keep a dairy

A mate was talking to the trail warden and he reckons the trails won’t be open for a few more weeks due to all the trees that were brought down by heavy snowfall.

Bailed today due to blizzard conditions, heading out in the morning again, got my Schwalbe spikes on and they rule.(5.45 commute so not many cars in Leeds to run me over hopefully)

    Spikes….it’s the future!

Gary_M some of us live in villages with hardly any public transport, especially in this weather, I can use the car the odd day but I wouldn’t be able to get it off the drive. I do my 11mile commute almost every day, What you to do, walk??

Glucosamine sulphate, less than 9 quid for a years supply. All my joints used to click, wrists ankles the lot, been on this for a few years following advice from the doc, no clicks at all now, job done.

I loved the course, a nice mix of fast twisty singletrack and tight and twisty stuff, As i was solo i knew the best lines round and it was funny to see some of the others lines (especially where the saplings were)but all in all spot on, sooo different in the dry, nice one Pat and crew.

I have a full gpx file for the ride, tried it in one go earlier this year unsupported and trust me, carrying a bike and a 17lb backpack is not funny, especially up black sail. Read more at enduranceracing.co.uk, some pics on there too. It's the reports by Rik and not Rich as he was doing the Welsh C2C. You'll enjoy it, just be ready to push/carry as when i did the recce rides it was really staring to get on my t1ts!! I too used some pipe lagging, works a treat.
For more info read Rich Rothwells report but it may scare you a bit!
