It’s a pair of Trigon carbon forks btw.

I presume that the painter would have to air dry the forks rather than heat/oven dry the forks?

Cool – has anybody already done this? What grade paper did you use?

I thought rather than just key the surface of the lacquer, they would need to take the decals off otherwise it would not be an even surface to spray??

Steve the anodiser off here – did a few Hope brakes a while back – reckons he can do a good match on hope team green with very reasonable prices to.

Deserved Si I’m sure-the TRc looks nice though.

Just got a quote on some custom green anodised bits for the road bike.

Any news on when the nomad will be through?

Has anybody have a photo of the 1 1/8th works components headset. I can only find ‘coming soon’ and proto images on pinkbike – but not the actual product?

    Sounds good aP :-)

I know that 9 and 10 are compatable as its the outer diameter of the chain that is narrower the inner is near enough the same.

But 11 speed is a very narrow chain.

I don’t think the hope hub campag cassette body with the pro2s as the road hubs a slightly different.

I’m using Bonty Race Lite X wheels which are rebadged DT 240 hubs which I’ve put one of there campag cassette bodies on.

    Works great but not cheap.

So are you thinking more repetitive strain type injury?

I have not crashed or damaged my hand physically. The pain gets worse after a ride, but improves but then goes worse again. I have full movement and no restrictions but certain movements causes pain. No pain when touching the said area, pain only during movement.
Biking has a long history of wrist type pain – carpel tunnel doesn’t seem to fit – symptoms of handlebar palsy seems fit due to location of the pain.

Hands are near enough straight with my arm if anything they slightly going outrages by a degree or two but only a tiny amount.

    No scar tissue either.

I’ve just swapped my road stem to a positive rise and tilted by saddle back by a degree.

Do you have dodgy elbows, forearms like popeye, dodgy shoulder or a dodgy neck?

    Nope all healthly

Think I am going to go to a sports physio but I’ve got 10 journals to read tonight about bikes and wrist pain……..

Anthony – is that the montane spektr jacket by an chance? I went for the Omm event as I like the fabric.

I’ve got very similar kit to you. Quality kit is def worth the money.

What’s the TN moonlite bivy like in heavy rain? It’s more of a snowcave bivy I thought when I talked to TN.

I use a lightened Golite Lair 1 with Easton carbon poles and a homemade sub 100g bath tub groundsheet which negates the need for a bivy bag in 98% off weather.

Just to let you know the my Royce hubs were not 10 year old models but the current 6 bolt disc hubs.

Like I say Cliff is great but when my rear went back he put a prototype cassette body and pawls to replace the broken one but I was without my hub for over 4 months.

Pain is in the wrist definitely on the left hand side (palms down), doesn’t really go into the hand. I have been suffering from numb hands on very long road rides and pain off road seems to come after a long descent esp if I have been braking heavily.

Mary bars don’t fit with my style of riding. All ideas are welcome though

Think it’s coming from the road bike more than mtb. I’ve read that position has a big effect. Going to try tilting my saddle back, flipping my stem (currently negative rise roadie style) and fitting gel inserts under the bar tape. See if that has an effect.

Paying for a physio is next – but I was just after some info to see if I’m on the right lines first.

Anthony – Great kit list, is that a typo on the pegs? Seems very heavy compared to the other kit. 10x5g Ti pegs from alpkit are cheap and work great. Don’t bother with the terra nova 1 and 2g pegs as they are shite.
You could take another 100g of the coat too but no point if your happy with it.

Brave choice on the sleeping bag I have an orginal Rab Quantum top that weighs 400g (200g of down) that I use with a Rab xenon jacket – but thinking of selling it as it’s not really warm enough for me (although I do feel the cold easily)

Royce seem to be a shrine company on here with nothing but praise from people who have never owned them. they are nice I owned a pair for 3 years but they are not fit and forget both front and back went back with problems. Cliff is a super nice fella and the polish is best finish you can get but they are not the best hubs undernigh. Plus they are heavy nowadays.

    Any luck Al?

Cheers Al – the width should fit in the frame it’s the depth I’m not sure about.

Ned – your right about rim width effecting the measurement but I’m using quite a wide rim (Bonty Race x lite) so hopefully any depth measurements should either be similar or slightly smaller on my rim (obvioulsy dependent on Al’s wheel).

Cynic-al – I’m running 29er wheels on my 26 inch mtb with rigid forks. Tyres are currently road 700x35c with pently of room.

Would like to put on some off road tyres for green lane touring. Got some 32c cx tyres but looking for something a bit bigger but ones that will still fit in the frame.

Thinking the Bonty Jones 29×1.8 might do the job but clearance might be close on the frame (fork will be fine)

Question – what I size width do the 1.8s come up at really? But more importantly what is the depth of the tyre (from rim to the outer of the tyre tread?

Don’t want to blow £40 on tyres for them not to fit.

Cheers (Bell laps are great btw-perfect shape-just need new bar tape as they are so wide :0)

Firestarter – did you ever get my questions about your 1.8 tyres??
