Sorry me just being thick and not picking the ride option D’oh!

It seems to have a .trl – TCX convertor direct too

    Rik

Just tried to us GPS Babel to convert a .trl file to GPX and its coming up with an error code:

Error running gpsbabel: Process exited unsucessfully with code 1

    Any ideas?
Or am I using it wrong

Select – Alan Maps 500 (tracklogs) .trl
    Upload file

    Select – GPX XML
    Input new file name/location

    Select apply

and the error message comes up???

    Thanks think that makes sense.

Just need the Garmin to arrive now.

    Wow this gets complex.

So do in Tracklogs save as .trl file – convert to gpx (hopefully a quick job) up load to gamin connect (which stores it for future use anyway) then upload to the Edge 800.

Does the TCX converter do .trl files to TCX missing out the gpx step?

Thinking i need to read the dummies guide. Hopefully all these steps will be easier and fast in practice.

Ah good so I can continue with tracklogs version 1 which I have been using for years and know well and just convert the file to gpx and upload.

    What’s TCX?

What’s the difference between a route and a course?
I just draw the route outline on tracklogs (off and on road) and save with an appropriate name?

Is that because BaseCamp is naff?

Do you get turn by turn navigation using the O/S maps?

    Resistant to dropping mainly.

Depends what your budget is like but if you cam afford it get a

    Chromag Sakura

Light strong responsive decent angles – best steel hardtail I’ve ridden

    Rik

Mattstreet – i love how that photo gets banded around- if the owner will use a 200mm disc rotor on a hardtail!! The point of that is??

Check out Revelate Designs – mountain feed bag.

Not cheap esp with postage from Alaska – so order a few things as Erics stuff is great!

Riding in the Lakes on a big mountain route on a ‘near enough’ fully rigid bike and your mates couldn’t overtake you on full susp bikes.

They must be absolutely shite on a bike!!

On the South Downs maybe a fully rigid works in the Lakes it’s slower in every respect!

BB7s ensure you get the road version.

Make sure you get decent cables and have a full outer cable run though. Just sealed from standard campag cables to jagwire ripcord. Brakes are now loads firmer no squidge at all and loads more power. Recommended.

I think quality control is the main problem various threads on forums of varying wall thickness on seatposts and bars. Get a good one A-OK get a bad one….,,,

May I ask – what type of trails do you envisage riding?

A fully loaded bike for biving – singlespeed on proper trails. Doubt that would be much fun in the Peak/Lakes?

Like the idea as a more versatile cross bike but not singlespeed.

    Funky colour.

But….. Can someone tell me why the frame is super versatile? A Singular Swift looks more versatile.

Its not suspension corrected (very short looking forks) so if you put a sus fork on it will bugger the handling, so 29er is out of the window.
It’s got an ebb, so have lots of other 29ers.
You can put drops or risers on, you can do this on any bike and as Cyni-al states one will be a compromise in geometry terms.
Belt drive capable – well that’s 0.0001% of niche riders accounted for.

Not knocking the bike as I like the curves (although not the singlespeed) but versatile – no not really.

Hope your never seen going slow up a climb on a bike like that…….

Oh..and you’ve forgotten to flick the tab down on the front brake.

That’s not mountain biking, that’s just mincing about trying desperately to be niche.

Austin – presumably that set up uses a J Tek shiftmate as the cassette spacing is different between campag and shimano/SRAM……

I’ve had Royce hubs before but as beautiful as they look the design has flaws and they were not very reliable because of it.

Oooo…..just rung up Hope and the new Pro2 Evo is the same as the road hubs now – so the hope campag cassette body fits on the Evo mtb hubs.

Stans crest on the 29er wheels will be perfect with 32c tyres.

Hope do do a campag body but the road hubs are different to the pro2 so doesn’t fit

    Rik

    That’s what I thought!

Might just have to see if can pick up another 240 hub cheap.

Hilleberg are worth it my nallo gt is 10 years old this year and still going strong!

I paid £380 then which I thought a lot but think they are £700+ now – but I’d still buy another. Worth it if your using it a lot.

My coil CCDB weighs 630g with a Ti spring – so only about a 1lb heavier than a rp23 and far less difference between a dhx air or vivid.

Plus I hope they have improved from the proto CCDB air which was not much lighter than a coil with Ti and the action was no where near as good.

As ‘bodge jobs’ go I think it looks great – I run Campag Ergo levers so I doubt they will ever release a hydro lever so this looks like a great solution for me.

I think you’ll find that will be the base settings for the CCDB – which is how it will come shipped.

Whats the point of having the most adjustable shock on the market if your not going to dial it in to your personal settings rather than than someone else. Who will probably ride different terrain, have a different style, different build, etc, etc, etc, etc.

Why do you think the likes of TF etc ask you all the above questions if you send a shock to them to set up or push………….

    Rik

The ideal set up for them and the terrain they ride on…….., ride it for 3 months on the stock setting then do back to back runs changing one setting at a time.
